Weekly Wrap Up (Dec. 4 - Dec. 10)

I will tell you off the start, I had some fun this week  I had the pleasure of stepping in to do the Ask An Author for Aaron this week. It was kind of nice to give him a much needed week off. Still not sure the reason for his absence, but make sure you check out the blog and hazard a guess . So what is new and exciting in my life this week? Well a whole lot of nothing. I'm in what I call the 2 weeks of hell at my real life job that happens every year. Luckily that is done and over with

Ask An Author 3.0 #23

OMG, where is Aaron   If he lived up here, he might have got hit by a snow plow, but down where he lives that is not very likely. Or is it?   Someone told me that he was stocking a shelf when the whole aisle collapsed on him and he was by himself. Then they say he saw all the spilt liquor and couldn't bare the idea of all the good spirits going to waste. So injured on the floor he started slurping up everything he could get. Luckily he was lying at a low point of the store floor so all

It is past my bedtime... I think. So does anyone want to come over and fix my painting job at my condo? I've never painted a house or such in my life, and everyone seems to have suggestions, after I've f'uped and it has gone to shit. Well, I'm done the most difficult wall and pulled the tape off around the door frames and unfortunately took off in some spots a couple of layers of paint too!  Krista suggest to bribe someone with cookies, that most men will paint for cookies. November CSR Discussion Day: A Soldier's Guide to Single Parenting by Dodger

Welcome to our November CSR Discussion day with GA's newest Signature author, Dodger! Did you have chance to congratulate him before? If not, you can do so here, plus share a thought about his featured story, A Soldier's Guide to Single Parenting, or my interview with him! Enjoy! What are you wearing (and no fibbing!)? No fibbing? Okay. Only sweatpants and a t-shirt, which, like their owner, have seen better days. I just got up, and it's my day off, so I'm probably going to stay like t

Weekly Wrap Up (Nov. 20 - Nov. 26)

I hope my 'merican friends and their families of origin or found  had a super Thanksgiving holiday. Did you eat too much? I think TG is one of the mandatory 'pass' days that you get to eat what you want, how much you want, and for as long as you want. It is surprising that with New Year's resolutions that people make those far stretched promises to themselves to stop smoking, go to the gym, stop drinking alcohol and such, that there is nothing for Thanksgiving. Maybe there should be promises to

November Signature Feature: Dreams Can Come True by CarlHoliday

Ah, November. The longest and shortest month... As far as seasonal changes go, the weather seems to settle in for a hearty change, and you're either stuck in rain, snow, or heat for days on end... yet that can suddenly change. Or maybe that's just my neck of the woods, world, whatever? The holidays are also coming but aren't here yet, but in a second they will be and you won't be prepared! Sometimes I feel like I'm endlessly chasing some goal or dream, wondering if I will ever get there, much li

Has anyone seen Valkyrie?   Oh, there she is   So the folks in Western New York seem to have got over a meter/yard of snow over the past few days!  Here, we haven't got rid of the snow from Nov. 3 yet  Saw pictures from Nova Scotia where the doggies were playing on the green grass! I'm sure you Floridians can make me jealous in just one picture! Do you hear me? No more than one picture  First come, first served! Now not to often I encourage bad words to be used here, but I r

2023 Anthology Announcement

After taking into consideration the results of the polls I conducted about the anthology, the team has reached a decision about what we’re offering next year.    In 2023 we will be offering two site-wide events for authors to participate in – one anthology and one secret author contest.  Stay tuned for further details on both!   People overwhelmingly voted to have one theme for the anthology, and the majority wanted a committee to decide on themes, but also wanted to v

Featured Story: The Purple Door

With the weather changing with people looking to more indoor activities up north, why not consider a home renovation? Aditius from the Review Team did up a great review for the November Featured Story which may or may not have a home renovation in it. Enjoy!     The Purple Door by Valkyrie Reviewer: Aditus Status: Complete Word Count: 5,616 November is the perfect month for a ghost story when meadows are shrouded in fog in the morning and it gets colder and darker, a

Weekly Wrap Up (Nov. 6 - Nov. 12)

In case you are wondering why we have two blogs up featured at once, don't continually hit your refresh button to try to make one disappear  Or am I the only one that would do that? I remember back in the olden days, when a author would generally post a new chapter on the same day of the week around the same time of day, I'd sit there constantly hitting refresh until I got the new chapter  This was back in the eFic days long before even the idea of post dating   Now where was I? Oh, so due

November CSR Feature: A Soldier's Guide to Single Parenting by Dodger

November and the months keep rolling by toward the end of 2022 already. Life is what happens when you're not really paying attention, and sometimes things change suddenly and then you have to try and make them work. Well, in this month's feature story we're going back in time and to the summer months to see how this newly single father handles all that life throws at him. I couldn't believe I hadn't already featured this story before, but now you can for this month's CSR. Don't forget to come ba

Ask An Author 3.0 #22

Another month has come and gone. Over here in Kentucky, we're actually getting some autumn weather for once. I'm used to going from intense heat to severe cold within a week. No need to immediately break out the heavy coats. However, I am getting used to coming up with innovative ways to freshen up Ask An Author. No questions came in this past month, so we're switching things up.  We're going back to interactive. When we didn't have questions last time, our authors and readers asked and ans

Weekly Wrap UP (Oct. 23 - Oct. 29)

Sooooo, that should kick off the mood of this weekend  Not really sure what is more scary, the song or the facial expressions of Bobby Pickett!! I had a certain European food and chocolate company send me a whole bunch of Halloween candy mini bars due to my current job! I have boxes and boxes of mini chocolate bars, not the best for a lifelong diabetic  I know that Krista is expecting some but I think the UPS fee to send them to Kentucky might be a bit excessive. So what should I do with th

Weekly Wrap Up (Oct. 16 - Oct. 22)

They say a picture is worth a thousand words  This is what it looked like in my next of the woods after 3 days of temps in the mid 20's C, (77F) which were records, to dropping down below 0 overnight (32 F) and getting around 15 cm (6 inches) of snow  Just so you know, even though I'm happy to see some much needed moisture and the first snow fall of the year, I blame this 100% on @Krista   She wished this on me for like the past month and a half.  Now rumour has it snow has been spotted bel

October Signature Feature: Let the Music Play by CJames

Sometimes it feels like life is just a grind, with no way things will change, much less for the better. This time of year can feel that way, right? Before the holidays really hit it off, when we're all feeling the drag of our routines... just like Brandon before he got an unexpected turn in his journey. I admit, looking for a good visual inspiration sucked me back into this story and I couldn't stop reading until late, or early, depending on how you look at it. CJames never disappoints, so give
