I am guessing he did pass fairly peacefully. He was on fentanyl patches, morphine, and lorazepam at the end to keep him as comfortable as possible. Before I went to sleep, I helped the hospice CNA give him a breathing treatment as well. I think it might have been the fluid in his lungs (aspiration) that took him. We did all we could to keep him comfortable.

Sorry to hear about that. I know the struggle of our own hospitalised for longer time and never survive. Sometimes it's better this way than suffer more. My condolences to your family. And may his soul rest in peace...
