rec Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 In today's (11/6) Wall Street Journal, there is a fine piece about how 11 authors find plots and develop their stories. The following shortcut may work for nonsubscribers of the WSJ: Click here
Libby Drew Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Great article! Thanks for sharing it. It just goes to show you that everyone has their unique routines.
David McLeod Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 Good article; thanks for the link. Maybe we don't need the Muse, after all. Nah.
Tipdin Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 How people work and what inspires them is always interesting to me. Often times, I claim that my computer wrote the story, I simply sat down and started pressing keys on the keyboard with virtually no idea what was going to happen. I once wrote 300 pages without any forethought at all. Granted, the whole thing was a mess and needed work, but I ended up writing 300 pages of a love story when I in fact sat down to write an email to my boss - about a website I was supposed to be building. (For medical insurance laws!) When it's time, it's time!
JTRandall Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 Its funny, I was just thinking earlier tonight about how I used to write in notebooks and how much easier it was for me to write like that. I was irritated at myself for not being able to simply sit down and type it onto a computer, but after reading that article I dont feel so bad. It totally gave me a boost knowing that just because I have a hard time typing on a computer, doesn't mean that my writing skills have fled. THANKS!

W_L Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 I write when I am excited and motivated in stretches. It makes a really odd writing schedule, I can write 100,000 words in a day or 100 words in a month.
W_L Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Did I happen to say that my next chapter is about the length of a book? Lucky I break them out into days.
