Mark Arbour Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 I just wanted to give you all a head's up that posting will probably slow dramatically for a bit. It's summer (in case you didn't know that), and I'm on an extended vacation with my family, so I'm not sure how much time I'll have to write. Sometimes these trips fuel my motivation and I swamp my staff, while other times, I just enjoy the time off. I'm feeling more like the latter this time around, so I wanted to give you some warning.
Westie Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Hmmmm, I'm sorry Mark but your request for a vacation has been denied. Our policy clearly states that we require 4 weeks written notice of an intention to take annual leave.... Oh wait.... You don't work for me... Damn In that case have a great time! 3
methodwriter85 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Your son is like what? 16 or 17 now? It's important that you spend time with him before he goes off to college. Have fun.
sat8997 Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 Vacation, all I ever wanted, Vacation, had to get away. Vacation...oh, wait. You're not a Go-Go. I don't know about the rest of those yahoos, but I am not, nor will I ever be, staff. Just saying... 1
Gene Splicer PHD Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 He's dressed like Belinda Carlisle right this very minute. 2
centexhairysub Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 He's dressed like Belinda Carlisle right this very minute. OMG, I will not even go into the images pouring through my mind right now... Mark, you really deserve some time to recharge your batteries and spend some time with your family... Enjoy your time and we will be waiting when you return...
Mark Arbour Posted June 8, 2012 Author Posted June 8, 2012 He's dressed like Belinda Carlisle right this very minute. I'm so much hotter than she is!
methodwriter85 Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 (edited) Yeah, it's really hot in the Tropics, right? Anyway...here's my send-off to you, Mark. Edited June 8, 2012 by methodwriter85 1

GLH Posted June 9, 2012 Posted June 9, 2012 (edited) Size queen... Have a great vacation Mark! Salutations and greetings from Jackson, Tennessee, where it's painfully obvious 'zoning' is something you do after smoking a big fat hooter. Edited June 9, 2012 by GLH
Mark Arbour Posted June 9, 2012 Author Posted June 9, 2012 Yeah, it's really hot in the Tropics, right? Anyway...here's my send-off to you, Mark. I love this song. I'm looking for the beach in this video. If I wanted to hang out with animals, I'd go lurk in the Soap Box. Right now I'm typing this while gazing out the window from time to time at San Diego bay. Yet another naval vessel just sailed by. Seems the fleet's in town. If only I were 25 years younger. 1
Mark M Posted June 13, 2012 Posted June 13, 2012 Ohh so this explains it. I was wondering what the heck happened! but i'm glad you did vacation! Have a Great Holiday :)
Daddydavek Posted June 14, 2012 Posted June 14, 2012 Enjoy the beach and all the eye candy. Something about the ocean and the waves is always relaxing. So unwind. Recharge and enjoy a couple of Margarita's!

Recharge and enjoy a couple of Margarita's! Well, that time is over. Now I'm in Phoenix, where it's scheduled to get up to 112 next week, but it's only 103 today.

PrivateTim Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 (edited) Dude, you were like 3 when the 80's ended, how could you miss them? Edited June 15, 2012 by PrivateTim
methodwriter85 Posted June 15, 2012 Posted June 15, 2012 Dude, you were like 3 when the 80's ended, how could you miss them? I was four, actually. I consider myself an half 80's/half 90's kid.
PrivateTim Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 I was four, actually. I consider myself an half 80's/half 90's kid. 4 years and 10 years makes you 28.571428571428571428571428571429 % 80's and 71.428571428571428571428571428571 % 90's.
methodwriter85 Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Well, you got to remember that culturally, it was still the 1980's until Nirvana's Nevermind album was released in 1991.
PrivateTim Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Except of course that culture is also very regionalized and it also depends on the crowd you run in. No one I hung with liked Nirvana. My friends were much more REM and U2 with a few liking the old classics Beatles, Beach Boys and the Who, and when the mood struck, James Taylor and Billy Joel. 1
methodwriter85 Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Yeah, but in any event, the grunge era ended the 1980's pop boom/hairband boom and the like. Pop stayed around, but in terms of dance music like EMF's Unbelieveable and Real McCoy's Another Night. We didn't get back to full-blown pop until the release of The Spice Girl's cd in late 1996. That what separated the 80's from the 90's- the mood of music changed overnight with the entry of grunge/alternative rock. (REM was having a boom in popularity in the early 90's, and they were kind of the alternative to grunge.) In any event...it's kind of funny. There's this Youtube comment war on videos about 90's kid nostalgia, over whether or not people born in 1995 and upwards can actually call themselves a 90's kid. I kind of say they can, as I consider myself a mix of an 80's kid and 90's kid.
JimCarter Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Hey Mark! Just how long are going to have to endure this infernal vacation? Not that we don't want you to have a great time, but some of us are selfish pricks! (not me of course, these other selfish pricks) 0 1
methodwriter85 Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 4 years and 10 years makes you 28.571428571428571428571428571429 % 80's and 71.428571428571428571428571428571 % 90's. I bet you can do a better calculation than that, Tim. Calculate how many days there were between December 7, 1985 to December 31, 1989. Then calculate how many days there were between January 1, 1990 to December 31, 1999. You'll get a more accurate percentage there. 1
