So enjoying the time at home. 4
Popular Post kbois Posted November 11, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2020 Update...went to bed, still no delivery. Woke up...nada. went to work, started a chat session and now we wait and see. New delivery set up for between 6-7 tonight. Totally frustrating because the store contracts out for delivery service and the right hand has no clue what the left hand is doing. More frustrating because I was out of coffee creamer which should have been delivered so I had to stop at Dunkins drive thru in the pouring rain from this hurricane parked off the coast. The wind made sure the rain slanted into the window 😡. Final frustration....the customer service rep never once apologized. There's supposedly a feedback tab on my Walmart account....going to have to calm down before I even attempt to write anything. Ugh. Hopefully everyone else has a good day. 5 1

Whoa....back up tim. Not all greatness is achieved by taking risks. It takes greatness to give yourself wholeheartedly to another person like you have with Michael. It takes greatness to deal with the challenges that face you everyday. It takes greatness to express yourself through your poetry in the beautiful way that you have with words. It takes greatness to admit that you'd be lost without your safety measures. Don't sell yourself short. You, and everyone else in the DiC are great. You all have touched my life in a way that is nothing but good.....that is what true greatness is all about. There is nothing greater than handing a piece of yourself over to another person..as a friend, a lover, a co-worker, even a stranger in need of kindness or a fellow DiCer looking for advice or something to make them smile. You are already great. 3 3

Popular Post Kitt Posted November 11, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 11, 2020 (edited) Ok, rant ahead, so if you don't feel like listening, feel free to skip ahead. Most of you know I tendered my resignation at the barn back in September. I simply could not deal with the lack of communication and zero respect. Basically I was down to my last nerve and they got on it. Things have been better but only to a point. Till the last 2 weeks or so. Vet came for fall shots and was less than pleased with the weight loss my old man was experiencing. Seems that while they were separating the boys for meals, as soon as the faster eater was finished they put them back together. That resulted in the big boy, who is on a diet as he was a little over optimum weight, scoffing up anything the old man had not finished yet. Big boy got fatter, old man got skinnier. Vet recommended feed changes and I was very clear and specific as to what needed to happen. Long story short, they made NO change in feed or method. Old man loses more weight. Now he has very little in reserve when a fall bug hits him( similar to you or i catching a cold). I have the vet in because I am seeing symptoms beyond what I was comfortable dealing with. Changes to feed were recommended again. I texted all persons involved and the barn owner with the new feeding instructions and medication schedule. Again, NO CHANGES OCCURRED. I was very clear, using small words, and was ignored again. Someone please explain to me the meaning of "dry grain only, do not soak" and "NO HAY CUBES". I get to the barn 8 am, old man has been turned out, the feed dish is more than full, with what appears to be last nights dinner, wet hay cubes, and morning feed dumped on top. I changed my name to Karen and ripped everyone a new orifice from owner on down. They all seem to think it unreasonable for my horse to be fed per vets instruction. This way is easier. Until I picked up my riding crop this morning. Let's see if I made an impression this time. I am so tired of this goat rodeo. And hubby doesn't understand why I want to move to another barn. I hope things get better for you Kitt. 4 1

I think that it takes an amazing person to lay their soul bare for the whole world to view. You've done that here with your writings. You've given the world access to some very private details of your life, and that took a tremendous amount of courage. I certainly am not that brave. Don't equate greatness with fame tim. You didn't play it safe when you put pen to paper, so that makes you pretty damn great in my book. Edited November 11, 2020 by spyke typo, flow 1 3

Nothing wrong with playing it safe, tim. You’re here, and that’s great in my book. Besides, being considered “great” is subjective a lot of the times. 3
kbois Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Well...finally got my groceries...24 hours later 🤨 The delivery person never knocked or sent a text letting me know the stuff was there. 🤐 Good thing I heard the screen door shut on the entryway. At least the storm has been downgraded. Unfortunately we're on the west side which means we're going to get hammered with wind and rain thru tomorrow. The roads are already flooded and we have a new pond in our backyard that we share with our neighbors. The people next to them have lost a good chunk of their fence. I think I'll stay home tomorrow. Have a good evening! 3
Starrynight22 Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Hello all. I've read about 9 pages but too much to comment on. Sorry for the passing of pets, lost groceries, rude customer service reps, ignorant barn workers and dumb storms that hang out forever. I'm glad I "met" you all. Happy you're here, happy I'm here. If any are US veterans, thanks for your service. I got a deep freezer and I'm so excited. This is how I know I'm that dreaded o word (.....old....) When Kitchen appliances are making me happy 4

Popular Post Mikiesboy Posted November 12, 2020 Author Popular Post Posted November 12, 2020 Michael is 40 years old. In twenty years He has had 3 chest freezers. The latest one we bought together (maybe 6 years ago). It died several days ago. Luckily, friends upstairs had space for most of the food we had in it. We discussed it and decided that after the fridge fiasco last year (we had our own. It had been a gift to Michael from his parents, it died about a year after he got it, but he had a new compressor put in, which He paid for. It died again last year. We tried to have it repaired, it never was and it cost us nearly $1,000) we are not going to purchase another freezer or get this one repaired. Our new fridge freezer is self defrosting or frost free (whatever its called) and pretty big. So, it will do. This week we are eating a lot of stuff that we could not get into our friends freezer. As thanks, we are sharing the cabbage rolls we made with them. As we emptied it to take things upstairs, we found stuff in it, that we'd forgotten we had. I think we'll be better off without it, frankly. It seemed we bought things to make sure it was full. We decided to hang onto it and see how we manage without it. i am going to do my best to make sure we don't need it again. I hope those with new appliances have better luck. We have proven to ourselves we do not. The apartment supplies our fridge and stove, so if anything goes wrong, they will give us a new one. We are not going to buy anything more, at least not in the near future. 6
Kitt Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 I have a dishwasher that was purchased for my gram in 1963. Yes, it is a year older than my brother, and still going strong. Our rental property is on the third since we took over property management in 2014. They don't make things to last anymore. 4

My parents had a Westinghouse fridge for forty years. It was still going strong when they got rid of it (it was too small). The new and “shinier” replacement fridge lasted only ten years. Go figure. 3
kbois Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 Household appliances as a topic...I love it! My favorite was a handheld mixer we got as a wedding gift. It powered through mixing dozens of birthday cakes, unknown quantities of brownies, puddings, holiday meals, you name it. It finally gave its life up making a trifle for a work potluck. I had it nearly 25 years. 3
Kitt Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 (edited) Most of the small appliances I received for my bridal shower are still functional 38 years later, but I am pretty sure grams dishwasher, and her chest freezer that is now at my aunts house and was old when I learned to say "freezer" hold some sort of record. mollyhousemouse Posted November 12, 2020 Posted November 12, 2020 our landlady is going to replace our dishwasher, but has already said she won't replace the microwave if/when it dies. we have a new fridge budgeted next year. if Phil can ever decide which one He likes better 🤷 take care all 4

We went 9 years with no dishwasher in our apartment when the kids were little. I guess if you have to replace one or the other on your dime a microwave is a lot less expensive! Now, our last place only had one bathroom. Never. Again! That is a deal breaker for me. At least one and half bath is a must. I'm glad I don't have to pick a fridge. Side by side. Freezer on top. Freezer on bottom. Ice maker/water dispenser. And now they have smart ones. Not sure if I trust an appliance that is smarter than me...lol! Too many choices. 2 1

I hope that the rain has stopped and that you're beginning to dry out if you had to deal with Eta or whatever the hell that was. @Kitt inadvertently made me giggle with the ABS blurb. Many years ago, my mother lost control of her car during a rainstorm and wound up going sideways into a ditch and taking out a highway sign in the process. She was fine but the whole right rear quarter panel of the car was tore up pretty bad. Anyway, we were discussing the accident a few days later, and she looks me right in the face and says "those anti-lock brakes aren't worth a damn!" I started snickering and i managed to say "they don't work when you're going sideways." She couldn't leave it alone and she said "I'd have been alright if that sign hadn't been in the way." Well that did me in and I started laughing in earnest. Obviously, she wasn't amused. Years later she did finally find the humor in what she had said. She's been gone for many years and I still miss her. Thanks for sparking a wonderful memory for me @Kitt I hope that everyone has a great day. Edited November 13, 2020 by spyke typo 4
