  1. I'm re-reading Eregon currently, and planning on tackling the whole Inheritance Cycle.
  2. Bumping this topic, because, yeah, I now have one I've written I wish I never published. My Star Trek FanFiction based on STO. I wrote the first chapter, have done some creative storytelling with the guild I'm in. But I just have no drive to continue it as a Narrative.
  3. I use Role-Playing Games as a foundation for my writing. Everything I have posted on GA has been Homebrew Worlds, but they are effectively Character Journals. I just take a lot of creative license from my game notes, and how I feel other players dealt with things.
  4. This was a fantastic love story, and one I would highly recommend to people. Has a great twist at the end, and some good character development.

    Story

Loved this story. It hit me straight in the feels.
  6. From our very helpful FAQ section, under the Help tab: The Moderation Team are great people, who are checking your story out and making sure it follows GA's guidelines. Great volunteers.
  7. I need that shirt in my life. LOL. Love it. Where did you find it?
  8. My Mom, Sister, and Father (before he died due to cancer) were all diagnosed with Diabetes, at one point or another. So, growing up we all ate a low sugar diet. I knock on wood a lot, but so far, I've not tested positive for it, and I get checked all the time. I still eat Ice Cream and drink Coke. My two guilty pleasures. But for me, it's all moderation.
  9. Well, it's not just with Star Wars. Heck, I read two stories where the Headlines were, and I quote: "Millenials watch Friends, and are troubled about it's 'Problematic' humor." "Young People feel James Bond Movies are 'Problematic'." Hollywood, is just looking at modern audiences and trying to bank on SJW causes. The end result is they are going to fail.
  10. First off... NO SPOILERS!!!!!!! I still haven't seen Episode 8 yet. That said, I welcome the Disney changes. Frankly, Lucas was HORRIBLE as a storyteller, and my evidence is the Prequels he wrote and directed. Rogue One, and Episode 7 were awesome. I'm waiting for Episode 8 to hit On Demand.

    Frozen

Loved the poem Mac. For some reason, I got the picture of Paired Figure Skaters. Looking at each other during a routine, and the hope of a good finish.

    Weakened Bones

Excellent poem tim. Reminded me of either a breakup or when you end a friendship.
  13. As Myr and Cia and others have said, I welcome constructive criticism, as it helps me grow. One of the best things that happened to me, in my early days on GA was a story being rejected in the Moderation Queue, and Cia's PM on how I could improve it. The Block User feature of the site works wonders when someone is constantly negative, in response to anything you post on the rest of the site. Love it. Currently, only one person has remained on the ignored list.
  14. You got 13 days. Plenty of time.
  15. Google Drive, or MS One Drive. I have both and use them a lot. Especially if I'm at the Library doing research, I'll use one of the public comps, and login into OneNote.
  16. Like others have said, there are factors to consider depending on the era of the story. In a Fantasy/Medieval story, I would say a small town would be no more than 200 people, and most might be related. In a clan sort of way. Colonial time period 150-300. Wild West anywhere from 30 - 200 depending on if it's on a major route. Modern times anywhere from 200 - 2000.

    Saying ****

I have one story, that the main character is a Teenager in the US. I've had to remove some of the Fracks and Fracking and frackity frack frack from the story, as I write the chapters, as both I and my Beta Readers felt it may be a bit much. However, recently, I had to go to a cousin's High School, to help move stuff, for a science project. I'm now in the mindset, that I don't have nearly enough Fracks in my story, compared to what I heard.
  20. So, I decided to "try before I buy," but checking out a copy from my Local Library. I'm almost done with the first book of the trilogy. Wow. It's really good. I also think that in the era in which the story was written, 1989, having the main character be a gay teenager, was really brave. I can appreciate the author being true to their character and vision, even when it's not as socially accepted.
  21. Same here. I have a ton of stories in my "to read" list.
  22. Short answer: Yes. I'd investigate it, and see exactly what the student support services were actually doing. If they were handing out answers, then taking it to the next level would be the next step.
