I have no idea where this poem came from; it popped into my head in sentence fragments and discontiguous scenes and then everything connected together all at once. Mature for depression/suicide theme.

Jordan Bricks has just been involved in a serious accident. Pulled from the wreckage and rushed to the hospital...he was clinically dead...for six minutes. After being revived by doctors, Jordan is thankful to be alive. But it appears that death has not relinquished its hold on him just yet. Are they illusions, these horrible things he sees lurking in the shadows? Or is the truth about what happens to us after we die...more terrifying than we ever could have imagined?

He was the price his mother paid to protect her family from evil. At the age of seven she brought him to the temple to become a priest.
