Of Pride and Power Chapter 2 is Live

Of Pride and Power Chapter 2 Some interesting things are developing and I have added a can of worms to this story. You now know there's more than just an alternate England in this story at play, we also have a different and more bloody version of the reformation going on in Europe. Yes, modern technology and knowledge have reached this world, but it has not been transferred fully to the point of mass production. While it is true, that you could produce tanks and aircraft with Renaissan

Geek Chic

Geek Chic Now, I have to tell you all...I have always had a real soft spot in my heart for a boy who is a little bit of a geek. Hehehe, always have, always will. I mean, I love intelligence, I love a shy guy, and I love to laugh...so that’s like hitting the jackpot to me. They can just be soooo sweet sometimes, and I think they can be extremely fun to write as well. So have some mercy on me. I think that one of the elements of ‘geek chic’ that has always stood out to me is the fact that

Last Minute Prompts

I am the Queen of Procrastination.  I tend to work best under pressure; sometimes I need a deadline in order to get anything accomplished.  Sometimes I leave things to the last minute because I have no choice.  I have so much on my plate, I need to prioritize what needs to be done first.  Kind of like a triage of my schedule.  I do this at work all the time, since I am the only person currently in my department (not from lack of trying to get more help, but that's a completely different topic).

Of Pride and Power Prologue and Chapter 1 is live

Of Pride and Power Yes, I am starting a new book. It's original and the concept was something I was mulling over for a while. I've written gay/bi/trans characters, but I've never attempted to write an intersex character. LGBTQIA+, the I is for the intersex within the community. Rarely have I seen anyone attempt to explore this area or consider themes about people in-between, not ready to define themselves through surgery or designate non-binary stance, born with bodies that don't confo

It's Not too Late!

Thank you to all who have submitted stories for the Leap of Faith anthology so far!  Keep 'em comin'! There's still time to get a story written and sent to the anthology Proof Team.  Remember that stories can have a tangential link to the theme; they don't need to hit us over the head with it.  I will be spending this weekend working on my story   Now get writing! 😁

Indecision. And puppies.

I can’t believe how long it’s been since I've done this. Just another indication of how my job has eaten my life. I’ve always found blogging therapeutic, though, so I will make time this morning.  Life: One of my kids is a scientist. Like an honest-to-God, in the lab, with the white coat, type of scientist. I love him more than life itself, but when he starts talking about work, I absorb maybe one word in three, though I do my best to remain engaged and make the appropriate positive no

Action/Adventure Genre In Depth

We are starting a new feature to do deeper dives into the most read stories in each sub-genre of our primary genres. Sub-genres of action/adventure tend to focus on actively moving the plot along and less on character and other elements usually in a fun/mystery sort of way.  Typically there is a MacGuffin, a plot object, that the characters are trying to get or prevent others from getting. Sub-genres: Action Fiction, Adventure, Disaster, Martial Arts, Nautical , Spy, Spy-Fi, Super

Part 5: The (sexual?) tension between author and reader

What would you say if I told you that writing is a lot like BDSM? You might tell me that you are not into that—but aren’t you? No, no, that wasn’t an invitation for sex. I wasn’t talking literally but literarily. Okay, let’s clear that up: It’s what we can do emotionally with writing. Usually described as an “emotional roller coaster”. You might say that kind of cruelty only exists in splatter and gore. But it might just be that you’re getting BDSM wrong. When practicing BDSM, you wouldn’t go ar
