RIP - Comicality - May 1975 -- April 2024

I have been following Comicality since New Kid in School first showed up on Nifty in 1998. I started exchanging emails with him that long ago. We've been online friends since. When the opportunity arose for me to start Gay Authors in Sep 2002, Comicality was the first author with us. When we opened the forums at the very end of July in 2003, it only took me a few days to get Comicality on the forums. Back then he was on a WebTV... I have thought about this and would like add my suggestions on a tribute to comsie. Write a story about your experiences on reading his stories but also stories on how he impacted you on how he helped you and how you met him online or in person. He would love that kind of tribute. The tribute can be an anthology of stories for all authors and non authors just to paybtribute to this AMAZING author. -

My Only Escape spoke to me in ways I never knew possible as it is similar to my experience in a few ways. -
I arrived home from another round of treatment at the hospital and naturally felt tired but otherwise happy, then I came to GA and the first thing I notice is a banner announcing some of the worst news that can be announced on GA. We have lost another of our 'greats', yes @Comicality was one of the greatest on GA and he has gone to join the other 'greats' that we have lost. We will all miss him for the friendship, support and encouragement that he gave us and we will miss the stories that he had -
Shock, disbelief, those are my first thoughts. He will be missed by so many. My sympathies to those who knew him best. -

I first read Comsie on Nifty in the '90's. He wrote well then and his writing just got better with practice. On GA, I continued to read his story and his advice blogs. He always seemed so willing to share his time and talent of which it seemed was endless. And so now there is a void and he will be missed and remembered. RIP Comicality. -

I discovered Comsie's Shak Out Back and read all of his postings on his home site. @Comicality was my first experience with a gay contemporary author and his stories are how I learned about GayAuthors.org and the treasure trove of exceptional writers that post here. Accolades to all of them but they were all just imitations of Comsie's great library that first led me here. Simply thunderstruck and fighting denial on this sad news. Comicality was one of the very first authors I found back so many years ago. And through him, discovering so many other story sites and resources for our community. He's left a big hole in our writing and story community and even larger shoes to fill, you will be missed and rest in peace... Thank you for showing myself and others that it does get better.
