    2025 Anthology - Big Announcement!

    By Valkyrie

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Joyous Kwanzaa to all who celebrate! I'm still in a bit of a food coma from Christmas dinner, but I wanted to bring a reminder and also some important news for next year's anthology.  First, submissions for Carlos' tribute event are due tomorrow, so be sure to put the finishing touches on your stories and post the link in the thread in the Writer's Circle.  Second, I decided to do things a little differently this year, and instead of having a committee decide

i've got the power!

Okay, well the power just came back on It suddenly went out about 3 hours ago, due to the crappy rain and wind we were having here (I'm assuming) while I was chatting with Slave, so forgive me for just leaving you due to reasons beyond my control...   Anyway, Rich and I used the time to catch up on sleep and snuggle   So, if people's attitudes yesterday were a sign of how things are going to go in the coming year then... YAY!!! Everyone was sooooooooo nice even considering it was cold and

I Want To Get Straight

So I guess I'm turning into this huge cliche' . I've got all these plans for the new year, and how I'm going to get everything in my life straightened out and do better. First off I decided I didn't want to waste anymore of my youth. I figure if I'm not really healthy and active now, it'll just be harder when I get older (and for the record I'm not planning to even get middle aged until I'm AT LEAST 60 :king: ). So I went for a nice run around the neighborhood, and did some other random exe

I think I'm too old for this stuff...

Warning, drunk rambling post ahead:   Well I've done my New Year's partying and now I'm home, making mac and cheese and having a hard time typing. I went to two different parties tonight. One was at an old friend from WV's house (he lives here now) and mostly it was his girlfriend's family, who I didn't know at all. We only stayed there until right after midnight. They live in the highest neighborhood in the city, so we walked outside and were able to see fireworks that I think were being set

In the Next Year....

So contrary to what most people seem to be saying. I really liked 2005, it was a good year for me. So anyway I really like making "resolutions", in fact I know it's silly because I could really quit doing something anytime of the year, but I always look forward to New Year's and Lent so that I have an excuse to give something up. So I think I'm going to give up chocolate and alcohol for 2006. Both with a lot of conditions though. Like I have alot of chocolate right now, and I'm going to go

Happy New Year from Taipei!

Well, it's already 9:00 AM on New Year's Day here in Taipei ... a few more hours until it's New Year's back in the States. It was a blissfully uneventful New Year's Eve spent watching TV, napping, and laying around doing nothing, except for spending a couple hours yesterday afternoon with my classmate/thesis editor discussing my thesis over coffee. I've got six chapters to revise (some more than others), and still have to finish the last half of my final chapter ... If I can just get my lazy but

I really don't feel like blogging.

Hello all. It's been a while. I discovered two new songs that I love to death. "Dark Blue" by Jack's Mannequin and "The only Difference Between Martyrdom and Suicide is Press Coverage" by Panic at the Disco. Things are awkward here at home right now because some major drama has been happening between my mom and my sister. It seems that my mom gives my sister anxiety (she had a really bad anxiety attack yesterday) so they're fighting like crazy.   Not what I need right now. I don't feel g

fate, kevin, and jumping hugs...

Okay, so I can't think of a title yet so I'm just gonna start typing and hope that one comes to me soon   First, Happy New Year everyone!   This year has been filled with all kinds of things for all of us; good, bad, and indifferent, but I know that for me at least, stumbling across Comicality's stories and then GA has been one of the better things. The direct results that have occured because of that have been awesome!   I seem to have a whole new family... Davey and Chris, Eric, Michae

Greetings from Taiwan (12/30/2005)

Well, this is my first time writing a blog in English ... I have another blog in Chinese, but unless you can read Chinese, that probably wouldn't be very interesting to most people.   Today has been a pretty uneventful day ... just three hours of work in the morning, and now I'm home for the weekend. I need to get my M.A. thesis finished, and hope I can make a good bit of progress on the last chapter this weekend. I'm meeting tomorrow afternoon with one of my older classmates to help me make r

kung fu fighting...

Okay, just an advance warning, but this may be a long entry... for the full effect.   So, my sister in law Lisa was telling me that the department store she works in made it mandatory that everyone worked the day after Christmas. So she is telling me about her day and this is her story... Actually it is two stories in one because as I was telling this story to Rich and Tony they had me laughing hysterically with their little comments I will try and include in the appropriate places...

I Make Little Girls Cry

So Christmas was fun. I went and visited with my mom and grandparents, then my mom and I went to see my aunt and cousin (They're still not eager to mix with my grandmother ). Boy I'd forgotten how much fun my cousin could be! We played cards for awhile, hung out, listened to music, chatted. It was really nice. I also decided I got really lucky in the family department, and within the family for some reason (and I feel a little guilty about it), my aunt, cousin, and grandmother seem to tre

Just when you think you know someone.

Just when you think you know someone they write something like this and you are forced to look at them in a different light. My friend Jonathan Wrote this in one long breath of inspiration. I asked if I could post it here he said I could.   The Center Of It All by Jonathan.     There I was at the center of it all,   where the shadow met the light,   where water formed on glass,   where the immortal box sang it's incessant tune,   where the voices drown voices,   where laughter t

Fear & Loathing

I've got this little problem. It's called Traumatic Glaucoma. Granted anything that can make you go blind is pretty traumatic in itself but this refurs to a specific type of glaucoma that occurs sometimes many years after blunt force type injury to the eyes.   Like getting punched in the eyes.   My teen years were particulary difficult. I was outted at the age of 13 the summer before 7th grade started in a redneck town in Mississippi. By my count I've had twenty something concussions, 6 bro

2nd blog of the night

So I'm on such a sugar/caffeine high right now that I had to add this.   I skipped dinner tonight because I felt like shit (read previous blog entry). About fifteen minutes ago I got REALLY hungry so I decided to sneak downstairs and steal some food real fast. Well, I get down there, and first off I must get myself a Dr. Pepper. So I get one. Then, I start digging through the frig, and I find these weird pepper things that look pretty good. So I eat one. They are hotter than jalapenos.

read my lips...

Okay so I read this article in a magazine a couple months ago and I found it to be oddly accurate after analyzing Rich and then all my girlfriends analyzing their husbands/boyfriends... Let me know what you think.   I apologize in advance for how the descriptions are worded, but it's a woman's magazine, I have no other defense than that     In case you are interested, Rich is a skinny mouth   Aside from that I hope everyone had a great holiday! Mine was surprisingly stress free and

No more iPod while running

So I strapped on my iPod Shuffle and went for a little run just now, and by the time I was done with my fourth mile I felt like shit. Well, I go inside, and the reason I felt so bad was because I ran the four miles in 30 minutes, which is ten minutes faster than I usually do. In fact, I had no idea I could even do that. So I blame the music.   Jesse is back from vacation! Yay!   I saw the chronicles of Narnia today. It was good. But the best part of going and seeing it was the previews

Santa bring me a trip to D.C.

Yay Christmas! My family always opens the presents under the tree on Christmas Eve and then we get presents from Santa on Christmas morning. I am really wanting a trip to Washington D.C. for Christmas. I'll not be getting it. Oh well.   So, I got two really cool watches, some coasters (my mom thinks she is really funny), a Terri Clark CD, t-shirts, sweaters, and DVDs, but sadly no underwear with the hot guys on the front. Oh well, there's always next year.   The worst part about all o
