While everyone is focusing on the Secret Author contest (psst, make sure you follow @Secret Author and check out the daily stories), I've been busy typing up the wonderful

June CSR Discussion Day: Geeks by CassieQ

Delayed a bit, but worth the wait! I laughed out loud a few times, gasped at least once (too many books, no such thing!) and thoroughly enjoyed both CassieQ's story Geeks and her interview answers. Please make sure you leave your comments below for her to share your thoughts too! Who was the real villain, ACME or Wile E. Coyote?  ACME.  Coyote is just trying to eat.  ACME looks like they supply terrorists. If you were an animal, what would you be?  Probably a cat.  I excel

RIP Carlos Hazday After the news the previous week of hearing of the passing of Carlos Hazday, one of the sites most prolific authors from him contributing in so many ways, we held off on the GA News Blog to give everyone the time and Carlos the small amount of respect we could afford him. In case you haven't been on site for a few weeks, here is the blog that was created to acknowledge him and his life as we know it.   Saturday marked the close of the Secret Author contest submi

Carlos Hazday

RIP Carlos Hazday April 23, 1958 - June 16, 2023     It is my sad duty to inform everyone that a beloved member of the GA community has passed away.  Carlos Hazday was a staunch supporter of GA.  He took over the popular Ask an Author blog when it was in danger of being discontinued and made it into one of GA’s most anticipated blog series.  Carlos was also a great advocate for the anthology, by writing stories, editing, and encouraging writers to participate.  He made many f

June Signature Feature: The Dawn of Day by Dolores Esteban

June and halfway through the year. I don't know about you, but I truly believe that entire ages have come and gone in 2023 so far. I thought this story, Dawn of Day by Dolores Esteban was intriguing when I read it in the past and so fits how I feel about June so far. What do you think?  Length: 40,080 Description: A gravitational wave sweeps the USS Explorer to the star system 55 Cancri. The crew detects a deserted alien airport on a planet in the habitable zone. The planet, howe

** Ear Worm Warning ** Skidamarink a doo, I love you. Skidamarink a dink a dink, Skidamarink a doo, I love you. I warned you   I was out at a mall today, and I heard this kid singing this song, which I haven't heard in years! Well gosh darnitt , now I can't git it out of my head. Maybe since I shared the song with you all, it will finally leave my consciousness I liked the song as a kid because it had the word dink in it  Can I say that word here @Myr ? Now before I forg

Featured Story: Good Guys Don't Date Bad Boys

So is this a rule to live by? This review by @spike382 of a great story, I'm partially into and I would highly recommend the read!!   Good Guys Don’t Date Bad Boys by Laura S. Fox Reviewer: spike382 Status: Complete Word Count: 227,576   My favorite genre of story to read here on GA has always been Romance.  But a particular flavor of Romance I particularly enjoy is that of the College Romance.  Maybe because I wasn’t lucky enough to have a romance of my own in colle

Weekly Wrap Up (Jun. 4 - Jun. 10)

Interesting way to start of the blog this week   Sooooooooo, I think I listen to this song at the beginning of each summer as my kick off song to the summer. I like the lyrics and the video. I always wanted to be a boy of summer for a boy . Add in the fact that the kid playing the drums is so intense, who couldn't like this video?  I'm not sure if putting links to videos takes up a lot of bandwidth or not, but why not post a link to your favourite kick off to summer song. I'm sure everyone

Secret Author Contest Rewind #4 - Halloween

The next in our series of Secret Author contests centered around Halloween.  I don't recommend reading these in the dark though.  Or alone...    Link to stories: https://gayauthors.org/stories/browse/category/117-2017-halloween/   There's still time to work on entries for the current contest, but the deadline is fast approaching!  Information can be found here:

Ask An Author 3.0 #29

Gah! Ugh! June! It's... so... HOT! I'm burnin' up, folks. Our poor little air conditioner at home can barely keep up. From muggy Kentucky, I hope y'all are finding ways to stay cool out there. Stay hydrated! You know what else is hot? This month's Ask An Author! We got ourselves an awesome author to feature. With over forty stories in their piggy bank, our interviewee might seem familiar. I had the absolute pleasure of chatting with @CLJobe! Scroll down and see what questions were asked.

June CSR Feature: Geeks by CassieQ

Light-hearted, love is just the right mix for the Pride month CSR, and I wanted to feature one of our long-term Signature authors on GA too! What better mix of the two than Geeks by CassieQ!  Geeks by @CassieQ Length: 69,166 Description: A shy Star Wars geek love falls in love with an outgoing anime geek. As friends, family and old flames get in the way, will the two find a way to make it work? A Reader Said: Such a cute story, mikeal is beyond adorable and adam is such

Weekly Wrap Up (May 28 - June 3)

I think we have a topic of what are you listening too, what are you reading off site, but do we have one of what are you watching? Well let me know here   Personally this weekend I watched a series, 2 seasons, called Ragnarok. It is dubbed into English from Danish as I like to watch and listen to a show, not read it. That is what books are for, right?  It is an interesting take on Norse Mythology put into modern day settings. So if you sez to yourself, great another super hero movie about T

May CSR Discussion Day: Dejection and Hope by Demiurge

Did you read Demiurge's story, Dejection and Hope that was featured for this month's CSR? What did you think? Or you can share your thoughts on Demiurge's responses to my interview questions as I dared to let us all get to know them!! 🫣 Well, first (From Demi): Chocolate or Vanilla? Neither. What’s something personal about you people might be surprised to know? I’m an emergency dispatcher. What something you like to do when you’re not writing? I really en

Weekly Wrap Up (May 21 - May 27)

Another week, another day, another hour  . I had a nice short week last week as in Canadia we had the Victoria Day Long Weekend last weekend, and I believe some 'mericans have the Memorial Day Long Weekend going on right now. I believe our friends back across the pond in the UK have this weekend as one of their Bank Holidays. Tomorrow I do believe the French have Whit Monday, I also think in the Australian Capital Region they have Reconciliation Day on Monday, but does the the rest of Australia

Secret Author Contest Rewind #2 - Secret Admirer

It's time to revisit the next of our past secret author contests.  Here are 13 stories from 2016's Secret Admirer contest.  Be sure to check out @Cole Matthews winning story Jager.  IMO, it's one of the best stories on the site.   Link to Secret Admirer stories:  https://gayauthors.org/stories/browse/?filter_categories=82&   It's not too late to start writing your own secret author story for this year's contest!  @Cia has received one story already, so let's keep working

May Signature Author Feature: Zombies Like Us by Dodger

May came in like a scorcher here, and I felt like a vampire hiding from the wicked, evil sun (more than usual). In this story, Zombies Like Us, by Dodger one character doesn't even have to try when it comes to creating his costume... and he's got plans for a select few. I liked this short story shared in one of our anthologies back when I first read it, and I hope you'll like it now too!  Length: 10,930 Description: Jody doesn’t need to dress up for Halloween, he’s already a zomb

Weekly Wrap Up (May 14 - May 20)

For some reason today I am giddy  Not sure why. Maybe you can think up a reason why Steve is giddy today. Let me know? Here is a straw poll, with just over two months to go until the publishing of the Secret Author Contest, who thinks they will write one? WAIT. Full stop, it won't be a secret if you tell everyone here that you will be writing. Unless you are up to trickery and have no plans to write and post that you are going to write. It was pretty quiet this week on the GA News Blo
