Weekly Wrap Up (Dec. 6 - Dec. 13)

Just the facts man, just the facts! We are now 12 days from Christmas. Fact. If any Christmas shopping for pressies (for our Australian and English brethren ) isn't done yet, you're probably SOL. Fact. If you're mailing anything, probably want to do it sooner that later. Fact. If you haven't sent me my Christmas present yet, you will be on the naughty list. Fact.   Well as the world is getting busy, but not as busy as past years , the one thing is consistent year over year here at GA,

Weekly Wrap Up Nov. 29 - Dec. 5

Yes, it is December already!  Only 19 more sleeps until 🎅 comes to see all the good boys and gurls at GA  If he is still alive   I'm going to be short and sweet, I have a killer headache and body aches. Note to anyone out there that if you have a prosthetic leg and you and not wearing said leg, and stand up and turn around to put your residual limb (stump) on your wheelchair, ensure wheelchair hasn't moved 4 feet away I saw my fall in slow motion, not as graceful as Keanu in the Matrix tho

Weekly Wrap Up (Nov. 22 - Nov. 28)

Wow, what a busy week here at the GA News Blog. I should have started this earlier so I could have it maybe done by midnight local time. It is already 11:30 😮  So without large flashing lights and sirens, maybe an announcer with a mike dropped down for the rafters like at a boxing match (I believe he was busy with the Mike Tyson match ), we will be a bit more subtle today in the Weekly Update. So here it goes, we have two days left to get your edited copy for the Fall Anthology into the Ant

Weekly Wrap Up (Nov. 8 - Nov. 14)

Is late better than never?   Okay I need a show of hands from the 10's of 1000's of you that read the weekly update religiously every Sunday  Yesterday I sat down to watch the heavily advertised Alex Rider Point Blanc. I thought maybe one, maybe two episodes and I'll be good. Next thing you know you are done the whole season and you look at the clock and it is 12:15 AM Have you done this? If so, what show(s)? Just a short preamble this week. Let's see what happened at the blog.

Weekly Wrap Up (Nov. 1 - Nov. 7)

What's up world?  I'm beginning to think I'm living in hell. What is the famous saying, when hell freezes over? Well that is happening right now in my little corner of the globe. Snow, winds of 80 km/hr or 50 mph, and just downright miserable since about 4 hours ago. I think it is time to throw the flannel sheets on the bed 🥶. So I do want to do a special shout out to @Renee Stevens and @Valkyrie, who have agreed to postpone the deadline for the fall anthologies to the end of the month

Weekly Wrap Up (Oct. 25 - Oct. 31)

Well happy Candy Hangover Day!!! If you partook in Halloween last night that is. I guess all day yesterday I wore a mask a lot of day, but not a scary one   Talking with some friends, they said they bought the same amount of Halloween Candy this year, knowing full well that they would probably have less than 10 percent of the usual trick or treaters. The reason? They felt they could eat all the candy they wanted and not feel guilty and not worry about running out before the end of the

Weekly Wrap Up (Oct. 18 - Oct. 24)

Boo!!! So did I skare you ? It is less than a week now to Halloween. Does it seem due to Covid there just isn't the real excitement that most years have 😢  In my city/province trick or treating isn't banned or restricted, but some strong recommendations to keep both yourself and the kiddies safe. I wish I lived in a two story house, I so would have a plastic pipe or tube running from a second floor window and shooting the candy down to the kids that do come out. Heck, I would prob

Weekly Wrap Up (Oct. 11 - Oct. 17)

Goodness gracious, where the H E double hockey sticks did the week go  It just seemed like a couple of days ago I was doing up last weeks wrap up! The fact that we are losing weeks quicker than the Covid pounds a lot of are carrying around , means we are getting closer and closer to Christmas  Looks like I've secured a present from @clochette   So why am in saying this soooo soon? Well Friday we got a good snow fall here and today's high was -5C/23F 🥶. Yes, even in the Great White North, th

Weekly Wrap Up (Oct. 3 - Oct. 10)

Well Happy Thanksgiving to my Canadian friends Although I'm sure many people are wondering what Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas will look like this year, I'm sure we will all return to what is most important to us and celebrate that! You tell me what that is to you.   So I do really want to take a moment out on this weeks wrap up to give a shout out to Carlos and all he does for the Ask An Author 2.0. He has a new one every month for Renee or me to share with everyone here. The

Weekly Wrap Up (Sept. 27 - Oct. 3)

So goodbye to September and onto October. Can you believe that Canadian Thanksgiving is a week from Monday See, we have our harvest done before a lot of our southern neighbours. The holiday is about the same, rooted in early settlers giving thanks to not only the Native Americans they encountered at the beginning, but everything that happened in the previous year. Hopefully topped off with a bountiful harvest to carry through the winter. We have turkey, tons of veggies, mashed potatoes, gravy,

Weekly Wrap Up (Sept.21 - Sept.27)

Hello Folks! How are you all doing on this Sunday? I think it is Sunday everywhere but soon to be Monday in Australia and New Zealand. We do have quite a few members here that are from those two countries and I imagine others that are others just over the international date line too. So that gets me thinking  and that isn't a good thing. I remember this idea was first brought up to me in a Superman movie when I was a kid. What if you could fly faster than the speed of light, and you flew We

So what is up in your neck of the woods?  I mean weather related. I know that there is hurricane after hurricane battering the SE US, I know the West of the US is on fire, we have smoke and breathing advisories up here in Canadia 😮 I know it has been a early fall for some areas. What is happening over in Europe and Asia right about now? Then we can ask for a weather update from the South Americans, Africans  and Australians for the southern peeps who are transitioning to spring. Did I hear

Weekly Wrap Up (Aug. 30 - Sept. 5)

Hello Fellow GAers, or can it be GAyers? It is funny how some cities' residents names are made. For example I live in Calgary, we are Calgarians. When I lived in Lethbridge for 10 years, I said we were Lethbians . Needless to say my fellow Lethbians didn't find it as humourous. Jeez, its a joke  The province next to me, Saskatchewan, their peoples call themselves Saskatchewanites. And then the city of Moose Jaw in that province call themselves Moose Javians. Hi, my name is Steve. First and

Hiya   What am I so happy about? I'm not really sure . Could it be because Sunday is/was international Bacon Day? I think that might be it  Sadly by they time most of you read this the day will be past, but as I like to say, never to late to catch up   I apologize to all the people who don't eat bacon  I will just enjoy your share for you!   Now that most of you are smelling, tasting, craving bacon, I shall leave this behind and move onto the Weekly Wrap Up! Weekly Wrap Up (Aug.16 - Aug. 22)

Good Morning, Afternoon, Evening or Night to you. First and foremost, thank you to Renee for jumping in to do the wrap up last week. At around 3 pm my time, i got a call and had to head out of town. I left a message for Renee and she came to my rescue. Not sure if I could even try to do a wrap up on my iPhone or iPad So lets have a check in from everyone reading this blog. What time is it locally for you when you are looking at this? I know people are reading around the world and it w

Back for a week and then gone again! That's right, you're stuck with me again this week. @wildone got called out of town unexpectedly and asked me to do the wrap up. If you haven't already done so, please go vote in the Anthology Theme Selection for next year!  We've only had fifteen votes for the top themes next year. With almost 1,300 authors and almost 27,000 members in total, 280 of whom are already members of the Writer's Circle club, I had hoped for a much better turnout. All members are e

Oops  I actually forgot that I'm back from holidays, well camping, and I told the gracious Renee I would do the wrap up. Well last night, a barley pop or two, I was watching TV and then crawled into bed. I totally forgot that last night was Saturday night   I referred to Renee as gracious, as she was kind enough to do the wrap up for me the past couple of weeks. So let's all give a shout out to her for stepping in!! As mentioned, I was camping the past week and a bit. Had a great

Yep, that's right, you're stuck with me again. I think @wildone will be back next week, at least last I knew.  I slacked a bit for a Wednesday post, but we still had a couple new blog posts. Also, the theme suggestion thread is closed, and voting will start just as soon as I figure out how I'm doing the voting for this year. As all themes will have the potential to be used, things are probably going to be switched up a bit. So keep an eye out on the blogs for info regarding the voting for next y

Well, it's been a while since I've done one of these, but @wildone is taking a much deserved vacation, so guess that means you're stuck with me for the time being. I don't really have anything fun and exciting to report, except to say that I'm already over this heat! Let's see what we had going on this week! Monday & Wednesday, Cia joined us in the blog for the monthly editions of the Classic Author Feature: Thursday, we had a refeature of last week's anthology theme selection pos

Weekly Wrap Up (Jul. 12 - Jul. 18)

So, is it hot where you live? I've heard from my Eastern American and Canadian friends that the temperatures and humidity has been nearly unbearable. Then heard on the news that Death Valley, California hit 53.3°C/128°F  I guess I'm enjoying days around 25°C/77°F, but most evenings we have thunder storms rolling in. My city did have the 4th largest natural disaster in Canadian history in cost of damages due to hail a couple of weeks ago. I'm curious though, how is your summer going? Are you hidi

Well I never  😮  Usually I try to work a word of the day into the Weekly Wrap Up of late. Generally I try to look in everyday to check out the word of the day and see how I can use it in the wrap up. This week has been a hectic week and I have not been diligent in reading them everyday. So we find ourselves on a Saturday night and I check to see what word I can use, and I find this entry! I think this is the second time I have been used in an example of usage of the word, but wonderin

Well a Happy Independence Day to my neighbours to the south  Hopefully you were able to celebrate your national birthday this year in a unique but safe kind of way And a belated Happy Canada Day and Happy Somalia Independence Day on July 1st   So I was driving down the road the other day, and I had a weird thought, and wondering if any of you have pondered the same thing, or if not? I saw this Friday night and thought it is such a good song for right now with everything going on in the world! Well it made me smile and who better to cheer us all up than the Muppets! Hopefully it will keep that smile on your face for the rest of the week too       I also want to put out an offer to everyone!
