What do Author's want to hear?

Just a bit ago I was asked by a member on a yahoo group about my favorite stories here on GA. I could have gone on forever and I probably sound like an advertisement.   But it got me thinking.... of how I read ALL of these great stories and I hardly/rarely leave the author's any feedback.   It got me wondering what the author's want to hear... sure they probably get a lot of "Great Chapter", "Excellent Work" or "Darn you CliffJames".   I feel like I am being redundant when I mention what o

Not entirely certain where I'm going with this

As I say, not sure where this is headed, and the beginning may be screwed to all hell. Only thing I know for sure is that all this sounds different happening to someone else.     ***Untitled Piece*** Funny how life works out.   Two months past, I was curled up in his arms, trying everything I could to not think, 'There will not be too many more nights like this.' He was going into the Army within weeks, and within days I had to leave to start college. Because of his grades and my heart, ne

The sun is gone. :(

Literally, gone as of the last month or so. I could have sworn I move to Texas, but I feel like I'm in Seattle. And it's making me feel depressed.

good weekend

I went to San Francisco last weekend to visit friends and participate in Lovefest, some gay ass dance festival.   It was probably the best weekend to date, of my life and I shall lay it out for you.   Friday -   I left Friday morning around 4. Easier to drive that way especially getting through LA which is a huge choke point of traffic once all the working class people get out of bed. It would probably put me behind maybe 3 hours of my journey just to get through LA county.   I flew th

Broken Squeeze Toy

It was shaped like a Turkey leg and was a most unappetizing gradient of orange and yellow. I remember it smelled sweet of soft vinyl, the way a Madam Alexander doll does. Like any chew toy, it made the most horrendous of squelches when ever it was squeezed and released. Christy however, wouldn't settle for that. As he did with almost every toy he ever got, he chewed at the weakest part until the squeeze was rendered useless by a larger hole...   I remember the first time I saw him, it was moth

Infatuation, and Love

You meet someone and you're awestruck by them. Here's how I think it can go- the first is that you meet the person, and you think they "hang the moon", to use one of Adam's phrases. You're blinded to their faults in that initial rush of attraction, but as you get to know them, you realize that something's off, and they're not as perfect for you as you thought they were. It could turn out they're downright horrible people with an initial charm (aka Neal in ISWB), or it could just turn out they ar

Week 5

Four Win Teams:   Vikings- Looked strong against divisional rival Green Bay. Play the Lambs week 5 and then have the Ravens.   Broncos- Will have to continue to play well because they have the Pats, Chargers and Ravens over the next three weeks.   Colts- Have the Titans, Lambs and 49ers over the next 3 weeks and may have a legit shot at coasting to 7-0.   Giants- Play the Raiders and get the Saints in week 6.   Saints- The Saints won with something that they aren't known for: defense

Blow a Poison Dart at THE MAN

I started my first full time job three weeks ago. And it's such an adjustment. I went from college life of commuting, skipping classes, goofing off, to bumming around for a year, also goofing off....to sitting in an office 9-5, dealing with bitchy employees who like to play tattletale and teacher's pet...GAHHHHH, and seriously the day just crawls by!   In reality, it's not so bad. I spend most days surfing the net, and this past week, I didn't do anything since the nurse and research director

Voices

I was walking through the halls today and this guy was standing there talking to another guy. He was ordinary looking; I hadn't really noticed him. But when I got close enough to hear him, his voice just drew me in. It was so deep, really really deep, with a melodic quality to it. Suddenly this ordinary guy was transformed, in my mind, into an adonis just because of that.   That made me think about guys and their voices. There are guys with nasally voices. Some of them are cool, in a s

Racist pigs, stupid drivers, and zesty Italians

Okay, so I went up town to do a bit of shopping. That's not all that unusual. As I was walking from my car into HEB (a grocery store), I noticed a couple of African American women chatting in front of the store and didn't really give it a second thought until... The stupid asshole was walking into the store itself when I was when he whispered something to the effect of "stupid n***ers talking". I wanted to knock out his f**king teeth, but I kept my composure. And this wasn't some old-looking red

five years

Today I've been clean and sober 5 years.   I've been through a lot of changes in that time- not all of them for the better. Seen some difficult times that I would have really rather been somewhere else.   It's not easy starting again after 40. If you use drugs and alcohol, I suggest getting clean and sober earlier. People love to give second chances to young people. When you are older, I guess they figure that you should know better. It's much harder and takes more grit than most people have

Twitterpaited. (this has nothing to do with brief updates)

I thought this was supposed to happen in spring?   Oh its not me mind you, rather my sisters. One is all stupid for one of the guys working on the freeway, the other ... well the other is just stupid, but more on that in a moment. Im kinda happy for my older sister, she is into this construction guy, he seems to be into her, in that whenever he is in the station he watches her, no matter who he is dealing with. The two of them went to lunch yesterday, it went well, he asked if she would be wor

Yankees

Well... I am so happy that Yankees are improving so much from last year and two years ago. Even more, I am so glad that Yankees beat Red Sox few days ago. I really dislike Red Sox, and I still can't believe that they won the world series...TWICE! Two years ago, Joe Torres left Yankees as a manager, and Joe Girardi replace Torres. At first, I really thought that Girardi was the worst manager Yankees ever have in my entire life. Torres is an awesome manager and I can't believe that he left Yankees

I really love facts. So maybe I'll start out each blog I post with a fact, because sometimes they can come in handy. Maybe if you're caught J-walking or on Jeopardy.       =Did you know that the name Wendy was made up for the book Peter Pan? There was never a recorded Wendy before it.=       On my two-week leave from the site I didn't do much. I almost totaled my car, did some writing. Finally finished making plans for this weekend. I'm going to San Francisco for LoveFest. I'm really e

Week 4

Three Win Teams:   Vikings- There is reason for optimism in Viking country. With Peterson running and Farve showing flashes of that old bayou magic, the Vikes look to be closer to making a run than they have been in years.   Denver- Call me back when they play somebody- oops, they've got Dallas next week... but is Dallas anybody?   Colts- are expected to be a playoff team from a weak division. Theier real test is how far they get once they get in the playoffs.   Giants- whuppin' Tampa B

Students

This is the e-mail I received tonight:     Dear Professor,   I know class has just started and I'm already behind. I'm sorry I've screwed up so bad already. I plan to come by your office this week to find out if there's anything I can do to succeed in your class.   Signed: Hot male student. (OK, that's not really how he signed it, that's just descriptive)   Personally, I think it sounds like the beginning of a really bad porno.

Connecting the Dots

Chapter Six is now plotted and written in its entirety.   Yay!   But there's a catch... it's written entirely in dot points.   Oops.   So now I've got a week to take 3,000 words worth of dot points and turn it into something that's up to my usual lofty (*cough*) standards.   Anyway, since it worked so well for Chapter Six, I'm going to blog a bunch of random dot points today and you can respond as you wish.   - on annual leave until October 6th, and I've got absolutely nothing pla

They were serving as U.S. ministers overseas and did not attend the Constitutional Convention. Source: factcheck.org   Observation:   Kerry Collins should be traded or fired sometime this afternoon
