    By Cia

I can't believe it's already May! We're looking forward to the change of the season, so I wanted to feature another story that is all about change. Have you read this story in the past? There's a whole series for you to enjoy!  Length: 42,145 Description: A lonely, older man has spent his life hiding his sexuality. One day, by chance, this changes. Then a young man arrives to help him widen his horizons, as he slowly comes to terms with life as a gay man. A Reader said: A he

Beginnings

Note: I am a novice level writer. Everything I say should be taken with a grain of salt or disregarded as I bumble my way around. I would like to think we all started as readers and then felt the desire to write our own characters, worlds, or continuations (the birth of fanficiton?). In school, we were taught a few basics: Everything has a beginning, middle, and end. A story generally has 3 Acts in structure.  Make sure your thesis statement in those essays have t

Is The Christian God Of The Bible Moral: Part Two-The Origin of The Ancient Hebrew God

Is The Christian God Of The Bible Moral?  Part Two: The Origin of The Ancient Hebrew God An InDepth Look At Morality From An Atheist Perspective Written By: Jason Rimbaud In part one we narrowed down which god and denomination we would use as our control subject to discover if god is moral. We will be using the christian god of the bible to try and answer this question.  Modern christianity finds its roots in the ancient texts of the Hebrews, who not only wrote the book, believed

Is The Christian God Of The Bible Moral? Part One: How Do We Choose Which God

CAUTION: This will be an ongoing series looking to ascertain if the christian god of the bible is in fact, a moral god. And if that christian god of the bible is one that should be followed/worshiped/believed in. I am posting this in my Blog because it gives me the freedom to write uncensored without worrying about colorful metaphors or taboo subjects that might get me warned in the forums.  That just means I’m going to be swearing and professing perhaps controversial opinions on the subjec

Permutation- Why am I writing a fanfic romance?

Here's the thing, I do enjoy the movie and felt like it was such a bitter love story between Evan and Kayleigh. Do I think they belong together? No, it's quite toxic especially with how it began (Childhood sexual exploitation and abuse is not grounds for forming a deeper love story). However, after rewatching it, I wondered what was Tommy's deal with his hatred for Evan. Is it merely just a brother's overreaction to his sister's lover? Is it the abuse he suffered at the hands of his father (whic

Trying something different

So I decided to start training as a paralegal under University's of Delaware professional certification program. I've been saying I was going to do it for years, and thanks to a small inheritance, I could. It's set up as eight training modules over 11 months. Classes two nights a week. It's been an adjustment but it's also been a lot of fun, and really stimulating. I just finished the first module, with seven more to go. I'm pretty excited. I am hoping to become a real estate law paralegal. (I'd

If You Love Someone ...

Do you know that axiom, "If you love something, sometimes the best thing you can do is let it go."? I've appreciated it but never considered what it means on more than a superficial level. Well ... that has changed. I'm in an open relationship with my husband. I'm polyamorous, and he accepts that. He and I have each other, and we each have a boyfriend. My boyfriend is a super sweet, lovely guy named Matthew. We've been together now for about three years. While camping with Matthew

Work Rant

This is less a blog than a straight up rant. As many here on GA, I've been struggling finding my place in the world while trying not to be a complete asshole to everyone around me.  I've heard about a few methods of madness from life coaches, inspirational speakers, and psychologists about the importance of gratitude...of being grateful for what you currently have. I've also noticed that the more upset I am, the less I focus on feeling grateful. For example: Yesterday, I was calle

Hurricane Helene Aftermath

As most of you in the US and Canada are aware, and probably many of you in other parts of the world,  the southeastern United States was hit hard by Hurricane Helene over the course of several days.  The storm developed quickly and made landfall as a category 4 storm in Florida's Big Bend. On its way up the west coast of the state, it created devastating storm surges.  I live on a peninsula that juts out into Tampa Bay. During my 17 years in Florida,  most of it was spent in the Saraso

I miss my cuddly friend.

A few weeks ago, I lost my best friend and loyal companion. He had just turned seven years old when he was diagnosed with severe kidney disease, and despite several false hopes and attempts to prolong his life, he rapidly deteriorated and succumbed at home in my arms. In these troubled and violent times, it feels somehow wrong to grieve over the loss of a dog, but his death hit me hard and left a gaping hole in my life. I miss the guy more than I care to admit, which is strange, considering

Writing vs. Editing vs. Beta Reader

I guess it’s been a while since I’ve had anything to blog about. Today is the day to change all that.  I am in a writing slump at the moment. I think a lot of factors have fed into this. Since the beginning of the year, I lost my job, started a new one, packed up and moved, downsizing from a decent size home to a very small condo. My son moved back in, which we weren’t planning on when we signed the lease on the condo. Tight is an understatement. On top of that, I’ve been battling issues wi

Musings on Freedom and Capitalism

When some people read Of Pride and Power and wonder, how is this libertarian? Sure, I have private ownership, organic industrial development, and individual choice, but you aren't allowing capitalistic enterprises from forming, i.e. corporations or generational wealth. That's a choice on my part as I don't think long-term, the concept is good for a free-market. Modern capitalism is an innate weak form of economic theory.  As the world exists today, prices are rising, land and resources

Of Pride and Power Chapter 30 is Live

Chapter 30 A closer look at the young preteen Crown Prince Harry Tudor in my story, who is one of those kids that you probably would see tearing apart motors, wires, and circuit boards to create motors. I've met a few kids like him in my life, they are highly solution-driven and look at the world as a puzzle that can be solved. Also, sexuality isn't at the top of their thought process, so I imagine Harry as being asexual. Asexual awakening is an interesting concept, unlike straight, gay, or

Toronto the Good, no longer

I'm writing this because I read Edward Keenan's column in the Toronto Star newspaper today. It made me sad, angry and frustrated, with our city, those of us who live here, and most especially with those we elect to care for us and our city.  Mr. Keenan wrote so well about how this city was once known as Toronto the Good, and it was at one time that people here cared about each other. Now, not so much, as Mr. Keenan wrote, it is Toronto the Hostile...I'll add Toronto the Uncaring. We give to
