Well, we knew it'd happen. This week, I've been tapped by our CFO to help in a dispute against one of the federal regulatory agencies governing us and our funding. Anxiety is like a long, dark tunnel. You can maybe, if you squint just right, see a dim light at the far end. But as you move towards it, it flickers and dims as you encounter a turn in the tunnel. Work insanity

Just a rant. The college I work for has a new Dean (oh joy).  Great!  Except that she's psychotic. She waits until the last minute to make any decisions, then makes one that is illogical and actively hurts the goal that is trying to be achieved.  My boss is at a point she's seriously considering early retirement just to get away from her. If it wasn't 6 years away for me, I'd probably consider it too.

Getting stuck between Fantasy vs. Realistic concepts

I've been attempting to write an escapist fantasy story  for a few months now and can't seem to get past a certain plot block in the story involving a deaf protagonist and his cat-shifter prince from another reality. It's fun to read and watch isekai, but writing it is too formulaic for someone like me who enjoys experimental ideas and challenges. Senseless

I'm heartbroken today. Another senseless mass shooting and this one hits home. It happened at Florida State University, my son and daughter-in-law's alma mater.  Over the five years my boy lived in Tallahassee, we made many trips, four and half to five hours up.... four and a half to five hours back. Some were overnight trips, most were day trips to bring him home. One was an emergency dash to get him before Hurricane Michael hit.  All of the trips were happy occasions... football game
