    By Cia

I can't believe it's already May! We're looking forward to the change of the season, so I wanted to feature another story that is all about change. Have you read this story in the past? There's a whole series for you to enjoy!  Length: 42,145 Description: A lonely, older man has spent his life hiding his sexuality. One day, by chance, this changes. Then a young man arrives to help him widen his horizons, as he slowly comes to terms with life as a gay man. A Reader said: A he

Writing new story: "When All Seems Lost"

It's Crime Fiction, something different than my usual stories and a change of pace for readers into fantasy or historical settings. It's a modern gay crime story set in a fictional American city. Both Main Maile Character and Male Lead Character are adults in their 30s with decades directly or indirectly involved in criminal activity, indirectly or by necessity to survive.  I am basing the concept behind the story on this quote from the famous, but little quoted novel The Master and Ma

Two Truths & a Lie

In keeping with this year's newly revealed Secret Author theme, I thought I'd play a little game of 2 truths and a lie. Let's see if anyone gets it right. 1. Cats meow at each other 2. Cats are lactose intolerant 3. I got a cat. Ready. Set. GO!

Getting stuck between Fantasy vs. Realistic concepts

I've been attempting to write an escapist fantasy story  for a few months now and can't seem to get past a certain plot block in the story involving a deaf protagonist and his cat-shifter prince from another reality. It's fun to read and watch isekai, but writing it is too formulaic for someone like me who enjoys experimental ideas and challenges. On the other hand, reading the news and seeing the affects of what's been happening in the US, I can't find the excitement from escapism as I was

Senseless

I'm heartbroken today. Another senseless mass shooting and this one hits home. It happened at Florida State University, my son and daughter-in-law's alma mater.  Over the five years my boy lived in Tallahassee, we made many trips, four and half to five hours up.... four and a half to five hours back. Some were overnight trips, most were day trips to bring him home. One was an emergency dash to get him before Hurricane Michael hit.  All of the trips were happy occasions... football game

First Internet Home & Why It Wasn't Gay Authors

I’m sure everyone has heard that expression, life is what you make it. Or you only get out what you put in. Relationships are just like that, if you don’t put anything into a relationship, you won’t get anything in return.  A little while ago, I received an email about Awesome Dude forums finally coming back online after a few months of being unavailable due to reasons I won’t go into here.  And though the AD forums have been more than a bit silent for the last few years, I’ve always c

ECT (electroconvulsive therapy)can be an effective albeit last resort treatment for suicidal ideation.  When my husband came to me to say he'd discussed this treatment option with his psychiatrist, I was at once afraid and sad. ECT had been discussed several years ago. It was left behind on the table in favour of other treatments.  The other treatments which worked had slowly, over the years, become less effective. tim told me that the voices that urged him to take his life had become stron

The Halfway Point of My Paralegal Training

Holy crap, it's getting real now. So yeah, I just finished the 3rd module of my paralegal training with a 93 class average. (Open notebook testing but that doesn't make it as easy as you might think it would be.) I'm throwing myself full force into this, and seeing where things go. I'll be at graduation before I know it! And then...the job search. I don't know if I'm really ready for that again, but I'm excited to find out where this all could take me. I've been pretty lucky that I have a p
