I guess a boyfriend is someone you just really care about who your dating.

A lover is the guy or girl you give your heart to. That's the way I look at it anyway, I expect everyone is kinda different.

Hmm that seems to fit. I asked someone that the other day and they said a lover was someone you had an affair with but i thought the root morpheme in the word didn't really pertain to that meaning.
