Zapp Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 (edited) Only one song, and only if I've been drinking a little. Nutshell- Alice In Chains First show in 3 years, first song, just for the introduction and the reception Layne gets. Even though his voice is shot it's still a powerful song. Nutshell Edited October 11, 2009 by Zapp
glomph Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I'll go along with many of the ones mentioned so far, particularly "Oklahoma," and the video more especially than just the song. I have an Allison Kraus CD full of songs about breaking up, and I get teary from the cumulative effect, not so much from any one song. I think the Beach Boys' "Wouldn't It Be Nice" is rather poignant when you think about a gay context while you listen. Try it some time. The thread reminds me of the old joke about what happens when you listen to a country song backward.
Zeoanne Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Okay... can somebody please tell me what on earth posessed me to start listening to the songs you've posted on here And why do you think I have avoided listening to any of them? I'm depressed enough as it is... Depression is my faithful companion...my lover...my truth...my quiet days...my sleepless nights...
Nephylim Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 And why do you think I have avoided listening to any of them? I'm depressed enough as it is... Depression is my faithful companion...my lover...my truth...my quiet days...my sleepless nights... Never made it's acquaintance myself. We keep missing each other
Guest amgine Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 I Wish You Love- Cover by Rachel Yamagata.
NightOwl88 Posted November 3, 2009 Posted November 3, 2009 There are really only two songs that make me cry, one of them goes all the way back to my childhood. "Walk a little Straighter" By Billy Currington. It talks about a boy growing up with a distant, alchoholic father. My dad wasn't/isn't an alchy but I can relate to the feeling of gorwing up wondering if my dad ever really loved me. "How can I help you to say goodbye" By Patty Loveless. The song deals with a women having to say goodbye to various important people in her life, her best friend as a child, her divorce from her husband and ultimatly the death of her mother. I can't listen to eaother of these songs without just completely breaking down. Maybe my cousin is right, i do need therapy lol.

Former Member Posted November 25, 2009 Posted November 25, 2009 Hallelujah by Rufus Wainright......woah! i feel all exposed! (if you think you don't know the song, I swear you do. Watch the first Shrek movie again and listen intently to the song that plays when Shrek and Fiona break up!) It's my ultimate favorite. Just love it. (Still need to learn how to play it on my guitar) ACCURATE tabs anyone?
WatchPatRun Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 So I'm probably late posting in this thread, but this is totally my element. I love music, especially sad music so here are my top picks: Sarah McLachlan & Pink - Angel Live Hanson - Yearbook I could really go on forever...
NightOwl88 Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 I was flicking through the radio the other day and I found another song I could add to my list. "When I get where I'm going" Is a duet of Brad paisley and Dolly Parton, that makes me cry, but in a good way.
Kev de Cauchery Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 A new one for me too. Sunshine Song by Jason Mraz.
Cheyenne Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 Ok, I don't know if this has been said or not, but this is mine: Cinderella by Steve Curtis Chapman.
Site Administrator Cia Posted December 6, 2009 Site Administrator Posted December 6, 2009 For me it's two songs... This song was played at the funeral of a friend when I was a kid...so association makes me cry more than the lyrics, though for me they are profound. We Shall be Free by Garth Brooks We shall be free We shall be free So have a little faith And hold out We shall be free This ain't comin' from no prophet Just an ordinary man When I close my eyes I see The way this world shall be When we all walk hand in hand When the last child cries for a crust of bread When the last man dies for just words that he said When there's shelter over the poorest head Then we shall be free When the last thing we notice is the color of skin And the first thing we look for is the beauty within When the skies and the oceans are clean again Then we shall be free, We shall be free, We shall be free So, have a little faith and hold out 'Cause we shall be free When we're free to love anyone we choose When this world's big enough for all different views When we're all free to worship From our own kind of pew Then we shall be free We shall be free, We shall be free, We shall be free Stand straight, walk proud 'Cause we shall be free And when money talks for the very last time And nobody walks a step behind When there's only one race and that's mankind Then we shall be free, We shall be free, We shall be free Together, Forever We shall be free, We shall be free, We shall be free Stand straight, pour out We shall be free, We shall be free, We shall be free Together, Forever We shall be free
