Site Moderator TalonRider Posted April 1, 2014 Site Moderator Posted April 1, 2014 It's now time for the next event sponsored by the Author Resource Team, Team Recognition. Authors, why not take some time to publicly recognize and say Thank You to your team that helps you with your stories. I'll begin by saying Thank You to the members of the A.R.T. and welcoming our newest members. 2
Mann Ramblings Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I would like to thank Layla for her beta help on So Little Magic Left. It was wonderful to work with you and hope to find projects to do more in the future. And a GIANT thanks to MJ85 for his editing and beta combo work on just about EVERYTHING I've ever posted. Your efforts are invaluable and if you ever forsake me for another, I shall weep. Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! :D :D 1
joann414 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 A big Thank You to Louis, Cia, and Lisa for cleaning up my mess. Also, BillW and Shadowdancer for your helpful input. Your time and effort is much needed and appreciated. THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!! 3
mickey1952 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I'm not an author but I would like to thank all of the editors, betas, and others who provide invaluable support to their respective writers. Most of you are not pros, so we don't expect perfection (at least we ought not), but you truly make a huge difference to the readers. Perhaps not every sentence is structurally perfect, not every comma, colon, and semicolon is correctly placed. But, and this is the real reason you are all so vitally important, you make most of the stories on GA readable. God bless all you authors, but if anyone has ever read any stories that have been untouched, then were able to see the edited version, you know what I mean. The author brings us the bring picture, but it's the betas and editors who take a good story idea and tweak it into a readable format. This isn't a criticism of any author; they wouldn't have betas and editors working with them if they didn't feel it was an important addition to their work. This is an incredible gift of time and effort by a group of dedicated volunteers who give us their best. Like I said, they may not catch every little thing, but the difference they make almost always makes the stoies we all enjoy immeasureably better. And for the majority of us, that's more than enough. My hat is off to all the members of all the writing staffs of all the authors at GA. You are much appreciated and admired. Keep up the good work! 5
Ron Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 In the last year, I have had the pleasure of working with Lisa, Myiege and Thorn Wilde. Each of these wonderful people have brought their set of skills and unique perspectives to my work and made it better. Thank you so very much. 3
Bill W Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I have had a great deal of help over the past year and wish to thank the following people. First, the editors I have used and have helped to make my stories readable. My main man, Emoe 57, as well as Kitt and Zandra D. I would also like to thank the following betas that have made numerous suggestions to make my stories more interesting. Thank you Dyno Reads, Comicfan (Wayne), Joann, W.L., Rustle, Wolfwriter (Rachel). I apologize if I've forgotten to list anyone, but without your help my stories wouldn't have turned out as well as they did. Thank you, very much for your kind assistance!!!! 5
Andy78 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 So many to thank . . . I need to thank Louis (LJH), Slytherin, Thorn Wilde, rec, Rustle and Rob (Yettie One) for their invaluable help on my flash pieces and anthology stories. I also need to thank Joann who has been amazing in beta'ing my new story The Crown Affair. She's been working on the story with me for about six months so far and I hope she's there until the end. I'd also like to thank everyone on the WST/ART who have been great group of people to work with. 5
Mann Ramblings Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I wonder if anyone else has noticed the potential irony of this happening on April Fools Day? 1
Sasha Distan Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 I do this public thanking thing a lot, and in print, but it's always nice. HUGE BIG MASSIVE LOVE to Kitt, Rustle, Gregg, my non-GA editor Vin (who I think deserves a mention anyway) and Renee. You know I love you all. 3
Aditus Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 (edited) A big thank you to Lisa, zombie, Jo Ann and Cole Matthews. What would I be without you? Not a writer. A tentative extra 'thank you' to Cole for making me submit a poem to the 2014 Poetry Anthology. Still can't believe I did this. Edited April 2, 2014 by aditus 4
Site Administrator Graeme Posted April 1, 2014 Site Administrator Posted April 1, 2014 Before I had my writing hiatus, my editors were Rain and Aaron from the Mail Crew, and my beta-readers were Kel, Ray (yaalc) and C James. Sadly, I've lost contact with all of them apart from C James, so I have a new team who helped me with my latest story. A big thank you to rec for editing, and MikeL, Trebs and C James for beta-reading. Also a special thank you to ricky, for doing a final run through on the latter chapters to eliminate those last annoying typos. 1
Astro Posted April 2, 2014 Posted April 2, 2014 I am new on here but in the short time I have been working with rustle, he has been amazing! He knows when to tell me what I need to hear, when to give you some kind words and when to just have a laugh. My story would be a mess without him so far and I really appreciate the help! Thanks rustle! Xoxo 3
K.C. Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 I've had the pleasure of working with some really great beta readers over the last 3 years on GA: Wayne (Comicfan), Marky, JoAnn, Inthebrinkoftime, Louis. Thet give so much of their time and I can't thank them enough. Rustle isn't just my editor, but he's also a wonderful friend. I can't imagine writing without him. He's taught me so much and I learn more and get better with every new writing project. The best compliment I've gotten was from a professional editor on one of my book contracts, who wanted to know who had done my first edit run since it was very polished piece and only needed a little work to get it ready for publication. 4
Krista Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Kisses and hugs to Steve Steven (wildone) and Aj for putting up with me and making my writing and story-telling tons better and faster. 1
Stellar Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Though it's quite probable neither of them will see this, nonetheless there are two I really want to thank, Myiege and Cassie: it isn't easy for me to find people I genuinely enjoy working with. Not only do you offer much-needed insight through your observations, but you also possess very different personalities. This richness of perspective is complementary, and completely invaluable to me as a writer. On top of this, you both tolerate my obsessive nature, excess of detail-orientation and occasional impatience with fantastic good grace. There is little more I could ask for in a beta. Thank you so very much for your friendship and all that you do for me. 2
DynoReads Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 My thanks go out to my betas and editor Bill W and NostalgicLikeYou who helped or are helping me with stories. Especially with the newest story. But also thanks are due to those who encourage me to write, or help with a phrase or how a character would speak. 1
Ashi Posted April 13, 2014 Posted April 13, 2014 I'd like to thank Louis for being a thorough editor, and my beta readers for being patient.
GrimIsaac Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 I'd like to thank Wolfwriter for being patient with me and the mistakes I make. I would like to say thanks to Thorn for introducing me to this site that helped my writing side reveal itself.
Sasha Distan Posted April 15, 2014 Posted April 15, 2014 Extra thanks, because there cannot be enough love for my editing team now that my Born Wolf paperbacks have arrived. 1
