Two part Question.

What is your favorite story on GA?

and

Who is your favorite Author on GA, and why?

Note: The Story does not have to be by the same Author who you've said is your favorite.

"Crosscurrents" by Adam Phillips, who is also my favorite GA author. It was both a HOT and emotional read. What is and who is yours, Atruefan?

Sorry, but I'm not going to be able to answer either question. Firstly, my favourite story isn't constant. In fact, I don't think I really have one. There are different stories I read for different reasons. Secondly, I can't compare authors. There are many that I like and trying to put them into some sort of order to come up with one at the top feels...wrong.

I'm happy to list authors and stories off the top of my head, but don't ask me to rank them. I cant. :(

Well, it's a difficult choice since there are so many, but, I think probaby, A Place in my Heart by BillW is my favorite choice, it's characters come to life through his words, it's just a joy to read... and my favorite Author? Easy. Comicality. I came to GA as a result of one of his stories and it was his stories that inspired me to write.

I can't even begin to answer that! It's almost always what I'm reading right now!

I've read a ton of stuff- there is quite a lot of it that good for all sorts of different reasons.

Some stories are important because they are socially significant in some way.

Some are great because they are beautifully crafted.

With others, you fall in love with the characters.

Then there are those that take you on an adventure or are just plain fun.

The what is your favorite author and story question is too limited in perspective.

A better question might be what are you in the mood for?

Impossible question to answer   I´ve read so many great stories and loved them. Some stories I´ve read several times, but there´s no way I can say one is better than the other one. And the same goes for the authors.

My favorite story would be Little Man by Mann Ramblings.

I've two favorite authors, Bill W and ComicFan. Both write such varied stories that it's easy to find something to fit my mood, and both have unexpected humor hidden in many stories.

Asking my favorite story and favorite author is a bit like asking a mom which is her favorite child.  Not a fair question at all!

Right now, I have a bit of a crush on JAR and his Meta-verse, but I understand if that's not everyone's cup of tea.

Another amazing story is So little magic left by Mann Rambling. Anything he's written is just wonderful.

Ok, I'll let you all in on a little secret.  I started this post as a way to get some recommendations for really great stories, Heck, I like to read too, you know!

So, even if you can't pick a favorite, tell everyone about a story you read recently that really got you going, one of those stories where if it's not don, you check back every day for another chapter, one of those stories where if it is complete you just ache for more.

Yeah, I know there are a ton of great Authors on this site, I hope one day to be one of them. I'm just starting out and have a long way to go, but, I'm getting there.  One of my favorite Authors inspired me to write and  told me that every great writer started out as a mediocre hack, but with practice, good advice, and perseverance, you get better.

So, give us some suggestions, tell us who's stories you truly enjoy, and maybe, if you're not already doing it.. write something!

I love Vlista's Shane but the first half is a really tough read as it deals a lot with abuse.

Probably my favourite shorter story is Viv's Days of Silence.  The story contains the bare minimum of dialogue, but it is probably the best anthology story I've read here on GA.

The stories I read and re-read though are BillW's The Castaway Hotel and Comsie's GFD.

You should also check out the story that brought me to GA - GhostRyder's Kombat Kids - it's heavy on the sex scenes, but the story is well worth the read.

Well why didn't you say so!

Anything by Sasha Distan or Mann Ramblings is great as are Cole Matthew's stories.

Cards on the Table and Song and Dance by Headstall

Summer by Carlos Hazday and his shorts, some of which turned into a longer story.

Clueless Camping by Timothy M

Uninvited Guest by Iomax61

And of course anything by Mark Arbour.

Between that and what some of the others mentioned it should keep your lips moving for a goodly bit!

I'm afraid I'm still exploring GA, since I'm a bit of a newcomer here. Some of my favorite authors from elsewhere on the web post here, and I suppose I could name a few of those. :)

Ricky's "Charged Revelations" is pretty awesome, and I love everything in the Sanitaria Springs set by Dabeagle. Graeme's "Heart of the Tree" is another one of my all time favorites.

Though I do wish EleCivil of AwesomeDude and Codey's World posted here, so that I could recommend his story "Laika" which is still my favorite story on the internet. (Wait, did I just break the intention of the question?) ;)

Cynus... I don't know if you did or not, but, I think the 'powers that be' know most people read from many sources, so I wouldn't worry too much.  I've read many of the stories you've mentioned and yes, they are good. I hope you find other fantastic stories here on GA, it's a great place to find quality work without having to wade through all the crap out there elsewhere.

Welcome to GA, Read-on!

Thanks! I'll be here for a long time. GA has been awesome to me so far, and I love it.

It's always great to have a new place to post my stories, and a new community to participate in, though the best part is that my library has expanded with more wonderful stories to read.

I'm sure my next case of writers' block is sneaking up on me and then I'll have all the time in the world to read the recommendations on this list.

There are several stories on here that are in my view must reads:

Stronger than lions by Sean J Halford

Yankee by TheZot

'52 Panhead by Gabriel Morgan (incomplete)

These 3 stories alone make me grateful for this site.

Some prolific authors who are worthy of having everything they write, read, are :

Dkstories but The Bully is his best

Dom Luka ... Desert droppings is his crown jewel

Sasha distan ...Direct Confusion

DonH ... Beloved (ongoing)

Jwolf ... The list, The funny thing is and The English Year(ongoing) are all worthy of special mention

EB Wilson has yet to complete a story, but so far everything I've read is fab!

JohnAR Meta series is something I'm really enjoying but may not grip everyone.

There really is some amazing stuff on here, but there is also some utter drivel.

Difficult question, right now i would have to say my favorite story would be the Homestead Pack books by Fantasyboy69, who at the present moment has my vote for favorite author. I like this writer because he writes in a way that allows me to become one with the charaters. To be able to feel and understand what they are feeling and thinking. He makes me able to become one with his stories. :blushing:

Oh, yeah! That story is soooo good! MA Church has written quite a few good books, but this one is shaping up to be amazing!

Maybe I'm just easy to please. I like so much...
