Popular Post kbois Posted January 2 Popular Post Posted January 2 I'm a little late to the party but Happy New Year everyone. I, for one, am glad to put one dumpster fire of a year behind me. I'm looking forward to getting on with life and focusing on being happy and healthy. It'll take some work but now that I've kicked the nasty norovirus, I feel up to it. Have a good year! 8 2

Tim Hobson Posted January 2 Posted January 2 To quote the sage of Liverpool: ...and a Happy New Year. Hope it's a good one... in every sense of the word! Glad to hear the worst is behind you -- or at least we hope it is. Don't try to do too much, too fast, though. A boatload of my relatives had the norovirus, so we stayed home for Christmas and New Year's. Now, it looks like the first major snowstorm in years is headed our way. I'm rushing to the grocery store to buy milk, bread, and toilet paper (and some things I actually need!). 5

Starrynight22 Posted January 2 Posted January 2 Hello and Happy New Year all. I saw an idea to make a bingo board for yourself with goals but large and small, silly and serious instead of a resolution. I think it sounds fun. What would be a square on your bingo board? I think I might choose "read 5 nonfiction books". I read a ton, but it's almost always fiction stories. 3 1

Popular Post kbois Posted January 3 Popular Post Posted January 3 Social media can be a rabbit hole. I'm on it sparingly, mostly scrolling when I'm bored to watch cute dog reels. Yesterday at work, I was out on the golf cart (preferred mode of transport lol) when a couple flagged me down. An African gray parrot had flown up to them and perched on their rig. The bird promptly flew on top of the golf cart. I gotta admit, it was a beautiful bird. The bird would let you get close, or give it a cracker but flew off if you tried to catch it. I asked my activity director to post a notice on the community Facebook site (I don't belong) to see if anyone in the park had lost it. A few hours later after multiple shares she got a response. A couple 2.5 miles away had lost their bird on New Years Eve when he flew out the door when someone was coming in. They were devastated. In the meantime, my housekeeper and maintenance guy had managed to catch the bird and had him in their RV. Ziggy was reunited with his owners who were ecstatic. Happy ending credited to the power of social media. It was a good way to start off the year. 9 2

I was thinking of you during yesterday’s appalling behaviour by Lilibeth and Greta, both of whom had peed on the rush matting in the hall to the holiday apartment. One then decided it would be fun to run off and play in the field with the owner’s rescue dog who was not clued into how dachshunds have to be refined even at play…… This pm Lili has thrown up four times on Paco’s bed (hee hee) and appears to be coming into season just as we are leaving. Where are those old Valium tablets, when I need them? 1 6

Popular Post Gary L Posted January 4 Popular Post Posted January 4 Home! Yes, and within 30 min Spawn of Satan was caught by me balancing on arm of sofa to chew a 19th-century display cabinet. I’ve hidden the damage with a cushion but I fear Daddy Paco won’t be fooled….. 1 7
Popular Post chris191070 Posted January 5 Popular Post Posted January 5 Hope everyone is well. All is good here. Wow, two weeks has flown by. I'm back at work tomorrow after my two week break from school, back to cooking for 270 children. Take care all xx 1 7
Popular Post Wayne Gray Posted January 5 Popular Post Posted January 5 I'm back to work tomorrow after a productive weekend. I've written another 3,000 words over the last two days, and this next chapter looks like it'll be done as I find time to write this week. Have a great upcoming week, all. 9
Popular Post Gary L Posted January 5 Popular Post Posted January 5 I’m not back to work tomorrow as it’s a public holiday in Catholic (??) Spain. But I will be taking an evil dachshund to jail for crimes against electric cables (tv and wifi cut) whilst we were shopping…. 3 3 1

I’m betting the evil dachshund will be rocking those jailhouse stripes… 5

There is a product called Bitter Apple spray that you can rub on wires, cables, etc that will stop them from chewing on things. It's safe, but it's oh so foul tasting. I had to use it years ago with a puppy who liked to chew wires. But for that one flaw, she was the most remarkable dog who even house broke herself. After I applied it, she never chewed on another wire or cord again. I'm not sure if you can find it in pet stores where you're located, but you might be able to find it on Amazon. I will caution you to wear disposable gloves while applying it and to wash your hands THOROUGHLY after you've used it. If you have even the slightest bit on you and you accidentally touch your lips, you will regret it. Ask me how I know. LOL. Edited January 5 by spyke 1 5 3

I ended up using cayenne pepper sauce. 1 7

Some Eastern Orthodox Christian still use this old Calendar because they don't want to use "pope's" new (Gregorian) Calendar. Instead, no matter how absurd it sounds - we use the calendar of the Caesar - a pagan ruler of the Roman Empire!!! 🤪 4 1
Popular Post kbois Posted January 7 Popular Post Posted January 7 Florida has announced it will no longer participate in winter. If all y'all up north could kindly come get your cold air we'd appreciate it. Wind chill is in the 30s for us today. The falling iguana index is at DEFCON 5. Stay warm everyone! 6 3
