It was 20/-7° but felt like 5/-15 at sun up. Currently 25/-4° but feels like 15/-9. Forecast is for high of 32-34°. That's very cold for here since normal low temp is 37/3°. The positive is that the sunshine is warm and melting the snow on hard surfaces, i.e., sidewalks, driveways and roads. Though need to be wary on bridges and overpasses also areas where the pine trees shade the roads as though remain icy. 6
Popular Post dughlas Posted February 1 Popular Post Posted February 1 I see Gary's "crush" Carlos Alcaraz has won this years Australian Open becoming the youngest man to complete a tennis Grand Slam. Now if he could just get those Leafs to win the Stanley Cup. 6

Yeah that about describes DFW last week with those temperatures, but only a little bit of snow and a whole lot of ice. Edited February 1 by spike382 5

Sunday evening I received an email from one of my student's parent saying her daughter had received death threaths from classmates on an app... Some very very explicit death threaths, one even with a knife emoji! So this morning we called our administration and took the decision to call the gendarmes to check all the 200 students' bags before they entered the school. Then with the headteacher we received the mother of the girl in question and start an official process for harassment and cyber violence (so I also met the district inspection (not a cop but like my local big boss)). Then I had to do class with my students like everything was normal when some were very worried and the authors of the threats were in the classroom. The headteacher interrogated the 4 culprits one by one all morning. During recess and lunch time I had to be careful they were not in contact with the victim. One of them told me they didn meant it, that I was just shit talking like they don't realize the impact of their words... Now each of their parents will be summoned by the headteacher and the mother of the victim might file a legal complain. They're 11 god damnit! In one hands they're conscious of what their words meant and at the same time for them it's was just shit talking. One of them asked me how many points he'll lose in the behavior card... Boy we're on a level so over the behavior card, you could be facing legal consequences! 4 3
