This story starts in June of 2003. The invasion of Iraq is over, George Bush has landed on the aircraft carrier and proclaimed "Mission Accomplished", and the insurgency has yet to begin. Some may think America is at the height of its power.

The Last Out is the story of seventeen year old Devin Williams, an athlete whose deepest secret threatens to shatter the life he’s created for himself. Devin is what everyone expects of him in small town Washington; he’s an athlete, he gets good grades and he helps out around the house with his father. When a run-in with the school baseball team’s catcher goes terribly wrong and sets into motion a series of events, Devin must decide how to face his fears and biases.

Peter Symons, a married man becoming weary with lying about his homosexuality, decides to face the consequences and 'come out'. Then at a bathhouse, he meets a young man called Sammy, rejected by his family, and then victimized by the larger homophobia community. This is a love story, a love story involving two people - who happen to be gay.
