Jacob and Christian have been best friends since high school. Christian is getting married soon, so they spend one last weekend together in Jacob's cabin to celebrate. But a chance encounter with three unknown men will change their lives irrevocably.

Where Charles Wentworth is now, I do not know. I thought he was dead. It took decades to get over the heartbreak of his disappearance. And yet now that he has sent me a message, I feel not relief but horror… because, if my interpretation is true, then we are all in danger. The message in the sky is clear. One moment for himself can't hurt before he faces the scrutiny of the clan as they witness his success or failure... but do the gods feel the same way?

Will is back in DC because his friend Detective Griffin is missing. Spoiler Alert - reading this before Purpose will spoil the ending of Purpose.
