Thorny Poetry - 12. Black and Blue

Another song lyric

it’s the kind of night

where i’d like to laugh and cry and fight

with someone who’ll make me feel alive

but on my current path

there’s nowhere to go that’ll really last

and there’s no peace or happiness to find

oh, i wish you were here

because right now I need someone to drag me from my grave

and shout it out

oh, i wish i were there

so we could drink and live another year

vacant empty streets

quiet rooms where strangers meet

i wish we got to do it all again

if i had another year

in your company, every smile and tear

i wouldn’t change a thing from start to end

oh, i wish you were here

because right now I need someone to drag me from my grave

and shout it out

oh, i wish i were there

so we could drink and live another year

i could beat you black and blue

and you could tear my world in two

and then we’ll hold each other

and cry for one another

wake up weary and hungover

think our lives are going nowhere

and we know that soon it’s over anyway

oh, i wish you were here

because right now I need someone to drag me from my grave

and shout it out

oh, i wish i were there

so we could drink and live another year
