Thorny Poetry - 23. Unreal and Real

i wonder sometimes

are we

real

to you?

do we only matter as long as

we do what you want us to?

your word is gospel

when you’ve made up your mind it

stays made

you decided who i was and then

refused to hear who i am

and now i am invisible to you

i am a faceless string of words

behind a screen

computer code transmitted

across the sea

easy to dismiss as nothing at all

still i wonder

am i

real

to you?

Excellent question! Maybe it should be more important, what is real to ourselfs? :hug:Like your great poem is real for example and it reaches out to others. 🙂

And you are...?

Seriously though... a thought provoking piece, Thorn.

Thanks, Marty. :)

This poem opens a question as broad and deep as the ocean which separates us. How real are we to one another? How can we fight the brain’s natural urge to categorize and neatly order everything for its own convenience? Wonderful.
