Thorny Poetry - 44. Cycle

Wrote this a while back but didn't really like it. Posting it now anyway.

it keeps returning

again and again

my mind churning

and i feel like nothing

like no one again

i’m only this thing

my brain is only

a receptacle for mad thoughts

it leaves me lonely

and what i feel

is so fucked up

it can’t be real

my words turn to ash

when nobody reads them

gone in a flash

cycling again

spiralling out of control

i wax and i wane

and no wonder they won’t

take me seriously

when even i don’t

Be kind to yourself.  I see it all too often, this cycle of pain, self-loathing, and disbelief in self.  You are so much more than you feel in those moments. People do see you, Thorn.  See yourself in their words, in their hugs and smiles.  You have much to offer and to still do in this world. Grab what is yours.

Thanks, Mike. Your words mean a lot. I'm okay right now but I've been slipping lately. The support of the people around me is very helpful.
