Thorny Poetry - 26. Brighter

it’s brighter now

out there

the sun melts the frost from

bare branches

snow and ice

thaws into slush on the road

dark green spruces set against

the sky, a pale winter blue

and if you listen you can hear

sparrows and wagtails

no wind to drown out their song

it’s brighter now

in here

the sun melts the pain from

cold fingers

it’s brighter now than it’s been

all winter

This is wonderful. I remember those feelings when I lived in a colder climate. Even with the cold storms I've had lately, it's nice to have sun so the fingertips can warm up.

Today was warm enough that I could wear my coat open. I'm glad you enjoyed my poem. Thank you.

I loved this for all its detailed observation. You put me right next to you. And then you add the last bit about cold fingers - and I melted, too.
