i hate that i care

what you think of me

it shouldn’t matter

not one bit

 

but i want you to like me

and i know you don’t

you need not deny it

it’s fine

 

but i think you misunderstood

at some point, you misunderstood

who i am

and it shouldn’t matter but

 

i hate that i care what you think

that you can affect me

you don’t even know me

but still i care

what you think of me

 

and i hate that

I want to offer you a hug as you write about the heart we hide and try to protect. These are two strong currents of the heart, desire and self-defense.
