    2025 Poetry Anthology Announcement!

    By Valkyrie

The GA Poetry Anthology is returning for 2025 with the theme "Diversity"!  It's the perfect theme to show off the diverse world of poetry and its various forms.  I look forward to reading what our site poets come up with!  Please note the earlier due date.  The extra few days will give me more time to get submissions ready for the big reveal in April to celebrate National Poetry Month.     2025 Poetry Anthology - Due: March 30, 2025 The 2025 Theme is “Diversity” Feel free to

Respect

Respect is something that we all try to show to others, and hope that others will treat us with respect. There is nothing wrong with that and it is something that we are taught from an early age One way in which we show respect is how we treat others, i.e. opening doors for those older than us or giving up our seat on a crowded bus for an elderly person or someone who has a physical disability. If you were taught this and practice it great, you are doing the right thing, thank you. Another

Weekly Wrap Up (Aug. 6 - Aug. 12)

I think I am going to rename this blog from Weekly Wrap Up to Steve's aging blog   My question to you this week is this. Do you know you have something to do, but before you get to it, you are distracted by multiple other things?  Case in point, I sat down over an hour ago to start on the Weekly Wrap Up, didn't happen. Logged into GA, noticed the few notifications so started weaving my way through those. Then there is a few topics that I'm following that I see people posted on. Then I like

Queerbating? (Thicker Than Water Chapters 3 & 4)

If we ever met in person, odds are you'd never know I was gay.  I have don't exhibit any of the stereotypical characteristics associated with gay men.  In fact, I have been accused of being a homophobe and queerbating.  Some of these resulted in several arguments.  I just don't present as "gay."  I don't even engage in "gay activities."  I don't watch Drag Race.  I don't care for most musicals.  I don't listen to Lady Ga Ga.  And, most scandalous of all, I want go to most PRIDE events.  The only

The Pick Up Game

The Pick Up Game Soooo...I have to admit to being truly intimidated by a project that I’ve been working on for almost two years now...but if I don’t just dive in head first and friggin’ DO it...then I’ll never get it done. I’m well aware of the fact that I have been, and always will be, my own worst critic. There’s no side stepping that. it’s just a part of who I am. And while it can scare me out of posting and letting people see what I’ve written on most occasions...it can also be cons

Author Guess Who? Incoming!

What? Where? When? Why? Who? By the power vested in my fingietips and the GA blog squad, it is my great pleasure to announce the revival for a site-favorite blog game... Author Guess Who? First things first! A monumental thank you goes to @Renee Stevens for starting this whole thing back in 2019. For several of our online community, we loved getting to know our fellow writers in a fun and quirky way. With that said, we're keeping this proverbial gravy train going, even for the wei

Something you don't know about me.

In 2017, my elderly mother fell and broke her hip. She was ninety at the time. I became a full-time caregiver. Her hip was fixed by surgery, but she needed time to recover and physical therapy to allow her to stand and walk with a walker. It took some time to get her there, but she was able to dress and take care of herself. I had to fix meals, do all the household chores. This has been a long, hard grind. Rather than getting better, it was a long, slow decline. In February, Mom h
