November CSR Discussion Day: Hustle by Talo Segura

    By Cia

Wow, November already. With the year almost over, I wanted to keep featuring things that kept readers guessing and challenge the idea of the traditional reading genres and stories. What did you think of Hustle? Share your thoughts below, but first, the interview!! Chocolate or Vanilla? I have to cheat... both! What's your favorite room in your home? Do you plot or write there? I don't have a favourite room and I write where ever I find myself alone and not being disturbed, of

Tracey and Dad

Okay so not sure what the hell this weekend will be like.   Tracey is due down for her visit sometime today. That is the good news.   Dad went to his doctor's appointments today. That is the bad news. His primary finally got all the results back from the testing done in the hospital. Evidently dad is still leaking blood from somewhere. They suspect from his aneurism so he is being sent to see a vascular surgeon. His primary wants the surgery done asap. Originally we were left with the impres

Some people... *sigh*

You know, some people absolutely amaze me, and I don't even know why I'm surprised by this specific persons actions. Most of you who know me know that I do not get along with part of my hubby's family, most notable is two of his sisters. One of them is nothing but a user. She barely talks to my hubby most of the time, until she wants something.   Within a week of us buying our house, she asked my husband for $500 for a boat that she not only didn't need, she didn't have a place to store it

250 and Laphroaig

Back in February I weighed 285, which quite frankly is too much, even though my doctor said “You carry it so well, no one notices.” I weighed 14.25 percent of a ton, way too much as far as I wanted even if no one noticed.   This morning I weighed 250. I figured I was due some sort of celebration.   Which brings us to Laphroaig, a damn nice Islay Single Malt Whisky. Please notice I didn’t use whiskey (the American spelling). Our liquor cabinet is rather small and can only hold six or seven bo

A reason to smile

I'm luckier than most people. Some people collect toys, games, or maybe books. I'm lucky, I collect people that become really close friends.   Seven years ago, god where does the time go, a very special young lady began working with me at my job. I didn't know it then but she would become very important to me. She didn't drive and I didn't know all the bits and pieces of her life. She lived close to thirty minutes from where we worked and on more than one occasion I gave her a lift home. We be

Firefly Music Festival

I spent three days as a volunteer at Firefly Music Festival in Dover, Delaware. I left Thursday night to set up camp, and came back Monday afternoon. Thursday night was probably the most fun in terms of camping- I was placed next to people who were pretty cool and friendly, and all of us hung out when we got back on Friday and Sunday.   I got to see the Black Keys, the Killers(who set off fireworks for their finale), Graffiti 6, the Silversun Pickups, The Wallflowers, Ok!Go, and Imagine Dragon

Trials and Tribulations

Hey guys! Sorry it's been a while since I last posted a chapter, but lot has been happening in my life, both good and bad. However, I'm heading home today, and I promise to start pumping out the chapters again. The response I've gotten from the story so far has been awesome and I look forward to repaying that response with awesome chapters.   I hope everyone has an awesome week!!!

Spaghetti a l'Ashi

This is a variation of Lana's Divine Spaghetti Sauce featured on Allrecipes.com. It has my own spin on it. Here is the link to the original recipe:   http://allrecipes.co...uce/detail.aspx   Spaghetti a l'Ashi   Ingredients 1 pound lean ground beef 24 IKEA Swedish meatballs 2 (28 ounce) cans whole peeled tomatoes 2 (6 ounce) cans tomato paste Instead of those two, use two jars of Bertolli spaghetti sauce, your choice of flavor. Prego works too, but Bertolli is better. If y

I Feel New...

Shesh, wonder If I even know anyone on this site anymore. =) Needless to say it's been a long time G.A.   I've learned recently that my muse only comes out around the hours of anytime past 12 pm. See now this would make a lot of sense seeing as how i haven't really written a thing since I started working full time two years ago and need to be in bed before 12. But this hasn't been working for me. Writing isn't just a hobby, it's a way to express myself, I way to be the person I always wanted t

Home :]

Wow, I'm home, lying on my own bed, feeling very happy indeed.   I didn't think that I'd miss this place as much as I did this last week. I was busy, doing exciting stuff, seeing and doing and being...   Yet in as much as I love to travel, as much as I love my work, and as much as being away from home is a refreshing break, it is lovely to come home.   It's the little things that make me smile right now.   I forgot to take nail clippers away with me. I mean, come on, who thinks to pack n

Dad, blood, and one confused puppy

Figured I should update everyone. Dad had his endoscopy yesterday. They found blood pooling in his stomach and went in to do repairs. He was supposed to have his colonoscopy today, but someone screwed up and he had solid food. So now he is back on liquids and had to drink eight glasses of something to clean him out. He will have his test around 8 am tomorrow.   His blood count is slowly returning to normal, Over all I am happy that things are improving. He seems to think he will be home by tom

Fathers and Sons

I know there are some people who get along wonderfully with their fathers. My father and I have more of a gas and match relationship. However I try very hard to ignore the problems and help where I can since my mother passed.   This week has been one trying week. Tuesday my father was very ill. He couldn't even keep water down. I wanted him to go to the doctor or the hospital but he fought me at every turn because he had an appointment with his doctor on Wednesday. Well Wednesday he seen his d

An episode from an old TV show that reminds us about Tyranny

Gene Roddenberry was a drama writer with a science fiction genre basis, I have been viewing some of my favorite TV shows created by the legendary film creator. Most people remember Star Trek as his greatest work, I freely admit that I was influenced by its exploration of mankind and social commentary.   There was another show, which was also just as good as Star Trek with marvelous stories and human introspective issues. Earth Final Conflict was originally conceived as the predecessor series t

70's Disaster Movies

Most of them were disasters. A couple of good ones were Earthquake and the Towering Inferno.           You can catch both of them on http://youtube.com         Brought to you by the 70's Preservation Society: yes, we did in fact drink the bong water.

What I care about and what I dont.

What I care about and what I don’t.   First of all I want to say GA is not just about writing and reading. It’s about people too. The one thing I’m proud of, before I joined GA was the fact that I have the quality of acceptance.   I don’t care about: Your colour, your looks, or your dress sense, you could wear trousers, dresses or walk round with knickers on your head. It doesn’t matter. What your sex is or orientation, do you have a fetish for rubber or wax or just get off on having a qu

You Get Out Of It What You Bother To Put In

It is a basic principle of life really. Whatever effort you put into something is what you reap in reward. There are a million different sayings that reflect it, its something we are taught to understand from a young age, and it is a lesson in life that we put into practice every single day we wake up.   Yet we never seem to do it quite well enough!   How often do we put everything we have into everything that we do? If we did, we'd be physically exhausted by the end of the day, but then aga

Just finished the last episode of a "banned Chinese Drama"

One of the things I have been able to enjoy in the last few weeks was going to a underground Chinese website to watch a very well received, but now "banned Chinese Drama". It's English name is "Scarlet Heart". The story revolves around a modern girl transported back in time via soul migration to the past, Qing Dynasty China. She eventually falls in love with half the princes in the Imperial Palace as they all fought for the coveted role of Emperor, while knowing the final outcome of their strugg

Awesome Random Moment

I was over at the mall tonight, trying to cool down as the central air in my house is broken.   After giggling my ass off through the opening chapters of 50 Shades of Grey at Barnes and Nobles, I was in the food and noticed through the skylights that fireworks were going off. I walked out, and people were gathered outside to watch this very good and very expensive impromptou fireworks show- it went on for a good 10 to 15 minutes. Someone close to Christiana Mall must have had a lot of money to

Drat!

Don't you hate it ... You're busily typing along, working on a key chapter and you finally have it, only it's at least 1,000 words too short.

Life as it happens

Just figured I would update and fill in a few blanks.   I have been trying not to stress about work. We are going through a restructure and who knows what that is going to entail all. I am suppose to find out tomorrow morning at a meeting. Yeah, I'm really happy to get out of bed at five am to make this thing. Love all store meetings.   Also dealing with work has been the tragedy of one of our district managers. He was out with his family on a boat on the North Shore of Long Island. The boat
