Kingdom of Rust

Doves Kingdom of Rust     I hear a sound, a sound above my head Distant sound of thunder, moving out on the moor   Blackbirds flew in and to the cooling towers I'll pack my bags Thinking of one of those hours With you, waiting for you   My God, it takes an ocean of trust In the Kingdom of Rust   I long to feel some beauty in my heart As I go searching, right to the start Hmmm The road back to Preston Was jutted out in snow As I went looking for that stolen heart For you, wai

Trials and Tribulations - Chapter 13

I have finally finished chapter 13 and have it published now. I'm sorry for the delay on this chapter and hopefully chapter 14 will be out soon, perhaps next week.   Someone mentioned that this chapter was a little shorter, and it was, but it felt like the place I to end with what's coming in the next chapter. The dream is important and hints are in it of the things to come. Chapter 14 will also have a twist in it I'm sure no one saw coming.   Anyway, thanks to all of you for supporting me a

I give up

As soon as I can finish Trials and Tribulations for those of you that like the story, I'm done forever trying to write again or open my heart for another person, ever. I can't allow myself to be called names that hurt and always have my love and commitment questioned every other week. As soon as I am done here, I don't think I'll interact online anymore with hopes or dreams. Sorry.

Soon 83, I learned how to enjoy my age

In 9 weeks, I will reach my 83th birthday. It seems to me that my brain is still the same as 43 years ago, with perhaps just the fact that it works at a slower pace. It is different with my body, especially in the morning when I have to get up ! I fought a long life full of hassles, but also full of pleasures and joys .   Did I may be live too long ? Certainly not !   My greatest pleasure now is to revive in my memory all these happy and unhappy moments. My life is not finished and I hope t

The War Inside

The War Inside   Stardate 43887.3 Dr. Walter Ingalls, Starfleet Medical Personal log.   At the request of the Angosian government, Star Fleet has dispatched a team of doctors and other specialist to help rehabilitate veteran's of the Tarsian War.   When I first got this assignment, I thought that we would make quick and easy progress. Nothing could be further from the truth. What I first thought were symptoms of severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a much more complicated condition

Day 33, Day 34, Day 35, Day 36

Day 33- March 27th   Continued working on Box 2.   Day 34-March 28th   Someone showed me a diploma from the Indiana State Normal School, from 1910. (That was IUP's name when it was a teacher's college.) It was interesting to read it, because the diploma listed all of the subjects that the person was able to teach. It was a quite a list as well- everything ranging from politics to geometry. Nowadays, a person needs a master's in education just to teach elementary school, it seems.   I had

How to take nasty jabs?

I'm not sure how to start this and not get lost in too much explaining and details. OK, so the shortest version possible, hopefully not too simplified.   Everyone has some soft spots. Some people have less, some people have more. For me, one of the biggest ones is self-dignity and how others perceive me. I know I should not care but I do. The other big one is "personal failures" or what I see as a personal failure, even if others might call them re-evaluation of my objectives or whatever. I h

Here a beta, there a beta, think I'm nearly done a beta

Okay I fell behind. There is no other way to put it. I took on a few writers who all happened to have work for me at the same time and I fell apart. So now I am playing catch up.   For those who follow the writers I work with, I'm sorry. They aren't getting out because, well, I'm behind.   I'm nearly all caught up now. So look for a new story from Daniel shortly, and a few chapters in the Legacy story from Mark. Then I might be able to put my beta to work as i finally play catch up with Jon

Day 29, Day 30, Day 31, Day 32

Day 29- March 9th   I was interviewed for the museum newsletter. It was kind of nice, getting to talk about myself and what I've been working on for this semester.   Day 30- March 20th   I continued working on Box 2, and got my picture taken for the newsletter.   Day 31- March 21st   I corrected some stuff about the article that was written about me, and continued working on Box 2.   Day 32- March 24th   The Cub Scouts visited the museum today, and I watched as Herb gave another to

A passing and remembering

Funny, my day this morning started so normal and I was feeling up. I was working back and forth between two beta projects. Finally getting things done. I took some time this afternoon to do a little food shopping, do some laundry and get myself ready for life.   This afternoon I signed in and then I seen it. KC's mom lost the battle and had passed away. I know too well what that is like. i can relate and sympathize with his loss. For each person that loss affects them differently. For some it

I'll start reading all the anthology stories this weekend

Too much hectic stuff happened this week and last weekend to allow me to read the stories. Sorry guys, but thanks to the few who took a chance and read my play.   You know real life stinks and my life in particular is hectic enough with drama and issues from everywhere. I know the job is disheartening, but I can't abandon everything and just leave, I've got obligations to everyone around me: Patients, Doctors, general staff, secretaries...I'm trying not to start a rant, just an update on my li

It's cheap guys so go get it.http://www.allromanceebooks.com/product-wickedwatcherslookingatthelads-762380-144.html   In other news... I am currently in the process of writing my own paranormal anthology for House of Erotica. Five 4k stories about a ghost, a werewolf, a fae, a

A break at last

I think most of us get caught up in our lives from time to time. Mine has been a bit busier than I'd like and I have been unable to focus. It is something that happens to the best of us at one point or another.   For those following the odd bits and pieces of my life, Dad had his skin cancer removed last week and the doctor is happy with the way he is healing. My sister in law undergoes the biopsy on her throat cancer next Monday, after that is complete they will begin to figure out her treat

Now that I'm in London

So, as many of you know I now live in London, and Paya will be joining me in the next 2 months.   So, now one incredibly stressful part of my life is over, I wanted to make a list of things to do:   (1) Excel at my new job (which I start today) (2) Move Paya over here (3) Finish my story (did you know I have a story? the first chapter was put up 2 years ago, I didn't do much with it after that, but its still there) (4) Use my company provided gym membership regularly (5) Go to Paris (6)

ASB 2012

I just got back from a week in Tennessee, helping to build new paths for the Cumberland Trail. We stayed at a lodge in a small hole-in-the-wall called Soddy Daisy, with kids from schools all around the East Coast and Mid-West.   I can't put into words just how wonderful that experience was. I came into the trip expecting that we'd be putting down gravel and trimming weeds for some biking/cross-country trails. I had never hiked a day in my life, unless you count walking around flat Delaware

Thinga are looking up

So I have had more than my fair share of interviews over the past couple of months. I have been told I have no relavent expereince or being in customer service doesn't count.   The jobs I interviewed for have been all over the country. I really wanted the job in Colorado Springs, but it fell through. I found a job that looked interesting and was like hey I could do that... and I think I finally might have gotten some where. I have a 4th and final interview with a Staff Vice President of Nati

Day 27, Day 28

Day 27, March 6th   Today I continued working on Box 2. I found an envelope of newspaper clippings- the envelope was a big manila envelope with "Philadelphia Convention July 1958" on front, so we kept the envelope.   I also found a 50th Anniversary Gettysburg Commission memo, which was great because there's a photo of the 50th Anniversary Gettysburg camp out displayed in the museum. I told my adviser about it, and she copied the letter and eventually intends on displaying the copy.   That

should i post or not post?

I have written the first act of a play with a lot of issues, technical and structural, and i am not sure if i should post it or not for the spring anthology. It isn't controversial or experimental like my usual short or long stories. However to me, it is definitely different, I've never done a play or written lines like these. I am picking up the idea and central issues of this play around a handful of news stories that got me thinking.   It's a decent idea for a play, but i know at my curre

Day 23, Day 24, Day 25, Day 26

Day 23, February 28th   I found the 1966 bibliography that had been written for the collection when it was housed at the old museum. It's a pretty great thing to have, in order to understand how this collection had been processed and cataloged before.   Day 24, February 29th   I continued working on Box 3. There was also a visit from someone who was a consulting, which I'm interested in doing as a career. It was neat to hear the advice from her.   Day 25, March 2nd   I finished work on

Blessing among the ashes

Life has a way of trying to equal things out. I don't mean that everything will be perfect just that when things begin to slide out of control help will be there when you need it.   The last two weeks have seen the wind taken out of my sails. First there was the personal attack. That took me out of my normal position in life. I'm usually the happy go lucky one who lets things roll off his back. It took a bit of time to get that perspective back. It helps to have friends who listen, even though

Am I the only one stoked about the new Sins? And no it's not religious :P

Yes, it's not politics or some hot guy, but it is just really fun. I hope I am not the only one into it.   I've been playing the Beta for Sins of the Solar Empire: Rebellion and it is just so addictive.I can't enough of the huge space battles or the new ship classes that they came up with. It's an awesome game on its own, but this new addition makes it even more. I don't know how to describe it.   For those, who don't follow the game, Sins of a Solar Empire is a massive space based strategy
