Internship Day 4 and Day 5

Day 4- January 21st   I finished processing Box 6, which was nice.   Day 5 - January 24th   I was about to go through box 7, but it was crammed full of personal military service records from World War I. I decided that it was a box that needed to have someone process it for the entire semester, rather than just being given a cursory glance through. The military records were held together by rusting metal clips, and will hopefully be preserved much better. It was fascinating to look at a fe

Oops

I went to see a new shrink yesterday and failed to report the outcome of that visit on yesterday's entry.   Back when I was first diagnosed of being Bipolar, that shrink said I was Type II which is a milder form of the disorder.   Yesterday's shrink said I was actually Type I, good ol' Manic Depression. He based his diagnosis on the severity of my periods of mania, plus my bouts with Major Depression and my one serious attempt at suicide.   I have to see another shrink at the clinic next m

Too Many Likes

Is it me or are there suddenly way too many 'like' buttons. They seem to be jumping out at me from everywhere.   I am a scatty thing and I keep forgetting to click them. It seems as if every time I read an entry or a blog or look at a picture, there are at least two to click and by the time I've fnished reading the chapter or the blog or looking at the picture I've completely forgotten about the like button or the stars and then I feel guilty when I realise, which is usually much later.   So

Settle'n In

(Here Comes the Sun by The Beatles) I’ve been living with my son a little over three months and things are going pretty good at the moment. There a few issues going on, but nothing onerous to the point I might consider moving into an apartment.   Brownies (Concerto in Jazz byMantovani and His Orchestra) My son smokes, cigarettes, cigars, and marijuana. Last week he made brownies, but the marijuana he gets from the neighbor overpowered the flavor. There was barely a taste of chocolate. If

Occasionally stretched a bit thin

I think everyone does it at one time or another. You over do. I'm one of those foolish people who hates to say "no" unless I have to.   I always find time to listen to others, be there when I can for others. I don't have a pot or window so can't do financial for people but my time is theirs if they need it. The thing is a few people too many lately have been tapping me and I'm just about tapped out.   Funny how the guy who can listen to anyone hates to open up himself, but I am a bit stres

I still miss TLC

When I was in junior high, a really awesome album came out. It was called Crazy Sexy Cool by none other than TLC. TLC, for the few who don't know, was an R&B group from Altanta, Georgia featuring Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, and Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas. The band produced some great hits from Crazy Sexy Cool, including "Red Light Special" and "Waterfalls". As far as I know, Crazy Sexy Cool is their biggest album ever, and it was their sophomore album. It's also the one that

Going Forward

Well I have the computer back. Right now I just don't want anything to go wrong while I play update with everything.   For those who are working on both GA and the sister site, well the Valentine story is due in ten days. Yes, anthology time never seems to end. lol. I have a story idea just need time to get it done and then have a beta and editor rip it apart. Speaking of the sister site I have a second chapter nearly complete now for Seer so hopefully people will enjoy that as well.   I hav

Hello my fellow people...

So, I haven't really been active here right? Yeah, I've been...ehh lately. I think I remember telling you all about the gallbladder surgery around June, July 2011.   I've healed from that, no problems. But I've been exceedingly busy with other things. I have finished writing, editing and posting Crimson Shadows which is a kind of sequel to A Butterfly's Life series, which includes A Butterfly's Dream. I am working on editing chapter 5 of A Butterfly's Dream. I'm also adding more informa

Internship Day 3

Day 3- January 20th   Today I continued working on the Watson Collection. I worked on Box 6. I found a book commeorating the 50th Annivesary of the Battle of Gettysburg. It wasn't in great shape, but it was still pretty nice. I also found this book that was a 1879 report of schools for the orphans of soldiers. It had a doodle of two faces on it in the front, which was pretty cool. I liked those personal touches.   There was a couple who were looking up information about a woman from

Internship Day 1 and Day 2

Alright, so I have to do a journal for this college internship I'm doing. I figure I might as well post stuff here, and then print out the entries later on.   Day 1- January 18th   I started my internship at the Indiana County Historical society today. It's a small museum, much smaller than when I did my internships at Hagley and the DMNH. It's a pretty friendly, laid-back place. The staff has been pretty helpful. I'm working on the Watson Collection, which has to do with World War I. I'm

On May 12th 2011, I OD'd.

Hitting rock bottom at 21 is pretty impressive I think. No? Well...ok. Maybe not.   On what you ask? Thats for me to know. But it was, to be completely honest, the worst experience of my life, and considering how much I've been through, that's really saying something.   I'll start from the beginning:   Here in Los Angeles there is this thing called L.A. Artwalk. Google it. In Downtown ,every gallery is open for anyone, there's tons of music and food trucks and it's all just groovy. My best

Too Fluffy

Winter finally arrived today. Puffed rain fell most of the day, until there was three inches of soft water covering anything with horizontal surfaces. The National Weather Service advises continued periodic dustings for the next four days.   Writer's Block continues. . . .

Issues

Okay so doing this by phone so mistypes and mistakes are just part of the issues.   1) I have discovered I can not do everything I would like to on the site with my phone. I keep having issues answering and writing comments on stories. This is a phone issue driving me nuts.   2) I still am waiting for my computer to come back. I have about six days to go and it is driving me nuts.   3) I have completed two short stories that I just need my computer to type up now.   4) I have pulled Seeo

I Have A Blog

I know, crazy isn't it?   This technophobic technopathetic girl has managed all by herself (almost) to make a whole blog page.   Go take a look at vote in my poll as to which kind of man you prefer.   http://nephylim-author.blogspot.com/

Every Journey starts with....

....a strong pair of gonads and a step.   So I thought after spending a few months reading far too many stories on here it was time I put my own thoughts to pen....errr pixel? So tomorrow I officially will start writing in what I am now naming the "Bloodline" universe with most likely "Faery Boy" book. Both titles are a work in progress for now. I doubt I will nail them down until later. But I hope to have a first draft of chapters 1 and hopefully two done by Monday.   So why bother with a b

New Year, New Life

I was reminded by a certain someone that I hadn't updated this lately. True, the holidays were a real pisser, then with mom getting cancer and the unexpected trip to North Carolina so Grandma could see baby to 'cheer her up' it's been a bit.   Sadly I go back to work in 5 days. Can't believe my time off is all gone. It's been worth it for sure, but it was a lot more work than I figured. [i know all you parents out there are laughing at me wondering WTF I thought it would be like. - Shaddup

Thoughts for a further year

The first days of January are often the occasion to take stock and to set targets for the coming months. The experiences of 2011 certainly part of a continuum, but they are for me a passage towards a new stage.   The year ended badly. My wife broke her hip and we spent New Year in hospital. Her recovery will take time and it is now my main concern. But this does not stop me from planning my next activities, both to carry on my mandates as consultant and to write the next chapters of my memorie

Yay Published at Last

So I now have two books published.   I have no idea if I'm allowed to advertise on here or not. No doubt if I'm not the blog will be removed and I apologize to the admin.   The first book I won't go on too much about becuase it is already posted here. ENIGMA but you can get it from All Romance just by clicking on Other books by Nephylim   So, the new one is The Unfairness Of Life.   It's along the lines of my usual stories but a little bit different as it dips its toes into the realm of

Silly Concerns

Get ready for my usual hodge podge again.   1) The computer is sent out and now I have about a 10 days left till it is back. Can I tell you how nuts I am without a computer?   2) I am working on a project again. I figured I have to do something while I don't have a computer. When asked for an idea of how long was given a clue that works great if typing on a computer but not if you are hand writing. Oh well I will do the best I can.   3) I sent out a lot of packages for the holidays but in

Blogging is fun, even for overly organized people

I like blogging. I like just sitting around and thinking or chatting about a topic. Writing out my thoughts is nice because it helps me frame them in a more concrete way. It's nice just doing it in my head, but it's more fun and more satisfying on a computer screen...not on a piece of paper, physically writing sucks. Typing is nice though. Anyway, over the years I've grown thoroughly attached to this site and its members and whatever else I'm doing in my life I still enjoy a place to just sit an

Back from Europe

I just came back from across the Atlantic and I have a lot of new takes on ideas and thoughts.   European culture is something American too often ignore, sadly, but it is very integrated to everything that the US in terms of our customs and ideas are about. American so often neglect or reject anything to do with Europeans, but in reality, the US holds a lot of the traditions with Europeans in different areas. There's also a European issue about their own infrastructure problems that I have wit

Emotions

Before I start this entry. I want to state, I didnt write it for sympathy. I'ts to stop me bottling it all up, and sending me on a downward spiral. So lets get this out. Most of you know my past, or some of it. I didnt get the socialising, interacting, childhood most of you got. I have no experience of sharing, for instance. I had nobody to share anything with. And cut off and isolated as I was and still am. I never got the opportunity to learn that stuff. I never stop learning. Now more th

Death of a Computer

Okay, so the title pretty much says it all. The comupter has been acting strange then it stopped connecting to the internet. Most likely a week without it. SHH. I am already having withdrawal systems.   Unfortunately won't be posting the last chapter of Seeon until I ... Oh yeah have a computer again. I will be posting messages and I can respond to notes on the site, but I don't even want to admit how long it took me to type this out on my phone.   So I am sort of on a forced break. All that
