November CSR Discussion Day: Hustle by Talo Segura

    By Cia

Wow, November already. With the year almost over, I wanted to keep featuring things that kept readers guessing and challenge the idea of the traditional reading genres and stories. What did you think of Hustle? Share your thoughts below, but first, the interview!! Chocolate or Vanilla? I have to cheat... both! What's your favorite room in your home? Do you plot or write there? I don't have a favourite room and I write where ever I find myself alone and not being disturbed, of

Festivals and Cold

This is my first blog entry here in GA, and I must tell you I am a lousy bloger. I have started three blogs in my online life and abandoned all three after a while because of lack things to post. Then, why am I doing this now? Do I have more things happening to me now? Well... for starters, I am indeed going through a period of change, no not Sex change, but a change regarding my career, my life, my surroundings and what not. More over, I have matured over the years to be able to find few stuff

Why am I still such a Romantic, when I am so Rational? fixed typo

The job is ugly, my numbers don't see any light at the end of the tunnel if we keep this up. I am awaiting a Board meeting to make a presentation of my findings and hope some of our outside directors can see the inherent flaws in internal management. Heck, even portions of senior management are siding with me (partially to save their own asses, sad but true).   Outside of work...I have just found my new favorite gay movie: From Beginning to End   http://youtu.be/BH6vtx3HVB8   This movie wa

The Cloud (2)

University of South Dakota Vermillion, SD     “Throughout the fossil record we can see that evolution proceeds in stops and starts. It does not and has not proceeded in a straight line.”   Dr. Jerry Cassidy drew a time line on his white board and put five tics on the graph. He knew that half his students were asleep and the rest only cared because they needed a mid-level science elective to graduate.   “The great extinction events have had a major effect on the biological world. Reflection

Recent events have had me thinking about a lot of things lately.   One thing is what lead me to this site. A little over 6 years ago (tax day 2006) I decided to follow the link to the site from Nifty. The link was at the bottom of my favorite story from author Vance aka Vlista20. When I joined the site I didn't know what to expect, nor did I think I would find some many different stories. I eventually branched out and found some really cool stories to follow and authors. I eventually became a

Will have to be off GA for a day or so....

Crazy shit happened today as I just found another $250,000 in costs and problems with cashflow with these contracts that senior management agreed to.   Need to do a cash flow analysis, sorry if I am late with Chapter 2 of Big Squeeze.   Here's a little reminder of me for you guys:

Big Bird had two gay dads! I'm serious

The two creators of Big Bird were a gay couple, Christopher Lyall and Kermit Love (Nope he didn't create the frog)   http://www.queerty.com/turns-out-big-bird-is-the-child-of-two-gay-dads-20121011/   I didn't know that, now all those years of adoring the big Yellow Bird's mannerism makes sense, I think

ER

I was going to just do a status update, but it was getting a little long for that, so I decided to do a blog entry instead.   I kinda hate myself for doing this, but I finally went home and left my Mom at the ER with my dad and sister. I didn't want to leave, but my Mom was worried about me being able to drive home safely (I work 10 hours shifts and by the time I get off of work, I am exhausted). So after the fifth or so request for me to go home and get some rest, I went.   I am getting

Oh, damn, now what?

Well, I guess the time has arrived.   This morning, I worked with an enrollment advisor at a university that thinks I have what it takes to pursue a Bachelor's in English. At least I got the language right. So, at 62 years of age, I'm going back to 1968 when I dropped out of college the first time around.

Good things coming.

Okay as I promised I am working on things. I finished my Halloween story and I have a beta going over it even as I write this. Huge thank you to KC.   I am revising the end of my Prompt Story. The sucker is over eight pages and still not finished so looks like it will be going outside my usual "The Prompt You Say" stories and getting a heading all of its own. I never do that unless a tale reaches ten pages. I will be shopping it around for a beta soon.   Work continues on my other two main p

A Special Thank You to MikeL

Yes, you old Frog, I promised I'd thank you properly.   MikeL helped me out with editing the Introduction of The Big Squeeze, today. He's the best kind of reader a writer can get, some one who is willing to interact with the writer on fixing flaws and improving the story. I wanted to thank him properly as an outside contributor. I know Mike, you can't join my team of Editors and Betas (I pay people in kibbles and bones, not flies ), but I still think you deserve some acknowledgement for being

Welcome to the New W.L and his writing style

First I want to thank my Team:   NotNoNever- Thanks for keeping me anchored to the vernacular and keeping the story simple enough for readers BlueSoxWSJ- Thanks for being my secondary source for finance information as we both come from different viewpoints, it's a thrill to do this together. SidLove- You are a great beta and insightful on ideas. I will need to work with you and Blue on the financial appendix very soon, so readers can track back on meanings Harcallard- Don't worry Harc, you

Signs of Life

Okay I didn't want everyone to think I forgot everything I was working on. I have been writing just so you know.   1) I have the End of the World Anthology story finished.   2) Started work on the Winter Anthology.   3) Wrote what was suppose to be a very short piece for the Anniversary Prompt. Well right now it is about ten pages and still growing so by the time I finish it will either be a long short story, or a short three part tale. Depends on what it is like when I finish and what my

You want what?!

When I moved in with my son, I broached the subject of getting a dog or atleast a big cat. Each and everytime I brought up the subject, N was adamant we weren't having a pet in his house. Well, last week he said "we need a dog."   I've been hallucinating so much for the past couple weeks, I couldn't be certain if he said that or not. Afterall I'm the resident cracker box around here; and, having a dog just might get me moving, "Have you walked the dog?"   Not only does he want a dog, he want

Student Loans- The Bad News and the Good News

The bad news is that my student loans are due on December 18th. The good news is that according to the longer 25-year repayment plan I picked, I don't have to pay any money because of how little money I made in 2011. The plan I'm doing bases how much you have to pay on how much money you made.   I mean, obviously I'm going to still put money in rather than just let the interest run wild, but if I had gone with the standard 10-year plan I'd be looking at 700 dollars a month in payments. Friendships of Value

This is a funny old world in terms of friendships, relationships and how we interact with people. I have found over time that my outlook on life, and how I value my friendships has changed so remarkably in the last few years, maybe as a result of doing a bit of growing up myself.   Traditionally I have always been terrified that allowing myself to 'grow up' or become more mature would make me boring. I guess in my limited view on the world, once you got to thirty or something, you automaticall

Doctor/Amy/Rory, Finn/Rachel/Brody and Sam/Dean

I am just so sad.   The recent episodes of Glee and Doctor Who are the reason for it. (BTW If you havent seen the episodes and dont want to spoil your own surprise, you should not read this. It will contain a bit of MANY spoilers... maybe)   So, Doctor Who. Season 7. Episode 5. Angels take Manhattan   Amy and Rory are gone And the way they went, it is just so sad. Today I Had to Tell Georgie George Had Died

Today, I had to tell Georgie George had died. I wonder if he understands what that means. Perhaps to him, it just means the ginger cat won't be here to compete with him anymore. A triumphant story of the undercat, or it seems.   Georgie had overseen the death of two cats. One is my own cat. When Georgie came along, my father shifted the affection toward Georgie and my own cat died slowly out of depression (and he just quietly sit on my lap the day before, and finally accepted my affection

Fingers tapping a wicked beat!

I love to keep busy. It makes the days race by, and all of a sudden, look, it is Saturday, and I am left wondering to myself where the hell did the last week go?   The plus side of being a busy bee is that your mind is occupied and you get to spend lots of time doing fun things that recently you have not really been given the opportunity to enjoy. But then with every up side, there is a down side too, and while I have really enjoyed being as busy as I have this week, I have also missed kind of

You have got to be freaking kidding me!

So as anyone who read my last blog entry knows, I'm currently stuck working every hour God sends thanks to my manager sodding off on holiday.   Anyway, today in our team meeting one of the other statisticians (who I'll call Margaret), reminds us all she is away next week on Thursday and Friday. The dumb bitch actually had the nerve to ask if I (yes me, yes Andy, yes this poor dumb sod who is already working 63 hours a week) would cover her work while she is away (after she had actually declin

Geezerspam... it's craptacular!

You want annoying? Old people who discover email and know your email address. Now- THAT'S ANNOYING!   I am the computer consultant to the old folks at my Mom's church. I advise them on what to get, set it up for them and show them where to go to get free training. I make a little money by fixing things they botch up and keeping them running.   Once they discover how to use email, I get recipes, cute grand baby pictures, forwarded jokes and all sorts of geezerspam I don't want. And I've got t
