What elements make for a believable character? What can writers add that aids in the complete and utter suspension of disbelief? Lots of thing come to mind like quirks, back stories, associations, inner thoughts, tribulations - and the list goes on and on. However, something many authors have done with beloved recurring characters is to give them hobbies. Certainly Sherlock Holmes had several and varied 'pursuits'. Agatha Christie had Miss Marple constantly knitting. Let's try rounding out
Did you catch (get it?!) Monday's blog featuring Gone Fishing by Headstall? This little lure of an excerpt should reel you right in if not! (Hey, I can't help it if I was raised by diehard fishaholic and know ALL the puns!). Seriously, though, the story has all the feels too. Read on!

Well, August has nearly come and gone if you can believe it not. I chose this story by Headstall because as my summer comes to a close I felt a certain kinship with the description of shattered dreams. Where have all the days gone and all my plans to achieve ended...? How often do we ask ourselves that....
Length: 11,332
Description: This is a story of life, dreams, and timing. Anthony's life has come full circle as he retreats to his small home town on a northern Ontario river.
Nothing to complain about age this week
I wanted to discuss something, but this blog would be then directed to the Pit
Let's talk about unicorns 🦄
I'm a big Tolkien fan and I have no difficulty after reading the stories and believing that all the species that are in Middle Earth, might have at one time been actually on earth. Like maybe prior to the dinosaurs and Middle Earth was destroyed due to some calamity too. Or, what if we finally find life on another planet and it is
Time Jumps
I think if I had a time machine, and went back about ten to fifteen years to meet my older self, I kind of wonder whether either one of us would really recognize one another at all. It’s a weird idea, but I don’t think we would. I certainly don’t think we’d get along. LOL! That was still the undeniable ‘work in progress’ part of me, and me now? I probably wouldn’t come off as being much fun at all. That would be crazy.
The thing is, I know that a LOT has happened in my life s
The lazy days of summer are nearing their end. With it go the sunny mornings at the beach, a hamper filled with cold, refreshing food and drink. Slipping away are the baskets with containers of fried chicken, potato salad, and a bottle of chilled sauvignon blanc. Before you know it, the hot dogs and ice cream from the back of a food truck are driving down the dusty road away from you.
In the meantime, let's practice writing about some food and crafting scenes around the sight, smell,
Who's getting excited for the annual GA Anthology?
The deadline for submission to the Proof Team is October first, which is approaching fast. It's only six and a half weeks away! 😮 We accept submissions at any time, so send on your stories as soon as they are finished. I've started threads in the Anthology forum for the guidelines, discussion, and links to stories. I'm hoping to have two stories this time around, so fingers crossed I can get them both finished in time. Who else

I think I am going to rename this blog from Weekly Wrap Up to Steve's aging blog
My question to you this week is this. Do you know you have something to do, but before you get to it, you are distracted by multiple other things? Case in point, I sat down over an hour ago to start on the Weekly Wrap Up, didn't happen. Logged into GA, noticed the few notifications so started weaving my way through those. Then there is a few topics that I'm following that I see people posted on. Then I like
The Pick Up Game
Soooo...I have to admit to being truly intimidated by a project that I’ve been working on for almost two years now...but if I don’t just dive in head first and friggin’ DO it...then I’ll never get it done.
I’m well aware of the fact that I have been, and always will be, my own worst critic. There’s no side stepping that. it’s just a part of who I am. And while it can scare me out of posting and letting people see what I’ve written on most occasions...it can also be cons

This word prompted me to pause for breakfast, porridge.
Since I like my porridge savory, I put odd things in it. People typically make faces when they hear my additions. This led me to consider inporridgibility. Are there things I wouldn't put in porridge? Yes, there are. Tuna for one.
What would you dear readers never put in your porridge?
Thanks @sandrewn for making one of my favourite words even more interesting. I have used it in relation to people and their behaviour and some people have used it in relation to mine.
Even so I had not come across it in Philosophy. Unfortunately I don't have access to the full article at present and will need to go through a library. The concept is that a proposition is incorrigible if it cannot be corrected; that is, it is not possible that belief in it should be found to be mistaken. Robi
Never used some form of incorrigible? I find this hard to believe. But I suppose I have an unfair advantage. I've been called incorrigible more than a few times.
Most of the words of late offered here, I have never used and at my age, with the time I have left, probably never will. Life goes on.
I came across this, found it to be interesting and offer it for your thoughts.

I hope there are many comments to come on this one, I would like to see what you all think. Then offer my two cents worth, once the dust has settled.
That so sad. I only start read his stories few week ago and they really good and even helps me with school things and thinking what to do. Feel sorry for all his friends here to.
Everybody is undefeated at the start of the season. Whether the fan's cheery optimism is justified gets sorted out by playing the games.
Except for Cleveland fans. They are cursed to suffer.
