I guess Nicky could be upset over having been left to clean up what he see's as Owens mess. I mean Owens parents wouldn't just stop with him. Im thinking he took a lot of trouble back home when Owen left. Then he see's him at the drive in maybe in a split second thinks he's going to get some sort of explantion to what happend. Then owens gone without a trace. Now he's found his former best friend, only too see he's been replaced with Aiden. Upset and angry he's lashed out on Owen. Mind you I wouldn't like to be Nicky when Aiden gets too him, I can't see him being too understanding why a complete stranger has just punched his bf!

I saw the chapter when it first came out yesterday, and downloaded it to my pocket-pc so I could read and savor it. Kept having things pop up though, so didn't get a chance to finish until tonight.

 

Agree with two sentiments here - one, I don't think Nicky is there as a basher. If he had been, it would have been something other than "asshole" - he's hurt at being abandoned. First probably being told that Owen moved and didn't want Nicky to know where (by Owen's parents), then when he sees him at the movies, by Owen running away.

 

And I also hold out hope for Dennis. After probably being distraught that Owen wouldn't come help Valentine, because he now knows about Ben, he starts thinking over and over about the incident. And the guilt (I hope) is at not trying to stop it or help Ben...

 

And Paul - damn, I think Kitty hit it in one shot... During his first visit to Reily's house when Aiden wanted to visit, when Paul and Owen are privately talking this comes up:

A number of you have suggested that Aiden is going to open a can of whoop ass on Nicky. That was my first thought as well and it still might happen. In fact, a big part me will thoroughly enjoy it. Not because I want to see Nicky get his ass kicked. It would just be so shmoopy for the Aiden-Owen relationship.

 

Will Aiden do that? Remember early in the story when Aiden was none too happy with Owen when he intervened in Aiden's fight with Dennis?

 

Now, circumstances have changed substantially since then. I'm just curious.

 

That's what I like about this forum. If you have an idea or thought and you want to see if it floats, you just throw it out here and wait to see how many members want to gnaw on your bone, I mean bones.

Plus, right before Owen goes up the stairs, he notices that Aiden is lagging behind and says that it's because Aiden is exhausted due to all of the day's events. That being the case, Aiden might not have the energy to beat up on Nicky, even if he wanted to.

 

 

I can't help but think that even if Aiden does react Owen will just talk him into calming down... But it really depends on what Nicky does next I mean will he just stop with the stomach or will he keep punching...???

Anyway, I was really hoping that Nicky would somehow become his friend again but I knew that that would be too good to be true... and too easy. I have no idea how Owen will react though. I mean, Nicky was his best friend at one time. Tony and Chris might hear it and step in though? Maybe

is it at ALL possible that Nicky is being playful? Owen has had quite the tiring and taxing day, both emotionally and physically. Maybe the combination of Nicky being a lil' too rough and Owen's complete exhaustion led to a less than welcoming greeting ... maybe?

 

I agree that if there is any reason for Nicky to be this upset that it is because of Owen's seeming "abandonment" and getaway at the drive-in. And maybe even the lack of friendship and trust regarding Owen's relationship with Dan sparked Nicky's rage. But to be truthful, I'm not too sure why Nicky would be this angry. It doesn't make complete sense to me. My prediction is either Nicky is being overly playful to the point of violence, or there is something much bigger that Nicky is angry about -- maybe an intricate connection to one of the other character's or something (maybe Adam or Janie or something - I have NO clue).

 

This is a stretch and probably wrong, because it might require a more in depth explanation, and we might not have that much more to go. But, who knows. Either way, it was certainly a finely tuned cliff hanger. (I started to convulse immediately following the ending, so either I am rocking out with Parkinson's or my Dom Blood Cell count is dangerously high)

I wondered the same thing at first, but I'm not too sure now...I can't wait to find out though, not that I'm impatient for the next chapter at all.

 

BTW, when I keep hearing song lyrics in my head, I try to pay attention, because sometimes they're trying to give me a message about something.

I get that sometimes too, hmm, maybe this is telling me to leave my hair blonde now that the brown dye's worn out? lol. Thanks for the lyrics btw.

Kitty..its a great song....now for some of the youngster here..I am a huge Billy Joel fan..I used to get all his albums (yes kiddies..there were albums back then...not CDs or DVDs..and computers were with punch cards..LOL) but i purchased back in my high school years, Piano Man, The Stranger (I believe this song is from the Stranger album....."Angry Young Man" and "James" were my favorite songs on them and all his good stuff pre going as I would say "Hollywood"

 

my sister and bro in law had that song played for their wedding song...back in 1979.......I don't even think David and BoyNeeds Therapy were alive......but Kitty you have great musical taste:)

 

Now back to the thread...I read the punch as one between friends(in the beginning in one of Vics posts (don't ask me which one but it was an early on this topic) he saw it as a friend doing a what fore kind of thing (like Nicky saying you jerk, where the heck have you been and I miss ya..and strange way to show it...either that or he Nicky is angry..but I do know that Dom said Nicky would be in future stories and we would see his character develop there..so I see this as his intro for future stories involving him, Adam, Dennis and Reilly and I am not saying he is Gay..but I could see him trying to win Lacy's heart and give Ryan a run for his money...hmmm..str8 drama in the making?)

 

but I have to say I am enjoying reading all these posts they are a hoot....even the ones on Valentine and Chey in that separate category:)

Nicky is mad, but the punch in the tummy is his way of showing emotion to Owen (not the most effective way of expressing yourself, but it gets the point across). Nicky's pissed off because Owen left without a word. Nicky's also pissed because Owen didn't talk to Nicky at the Drive in.

 

One thing to think about, what time is it when Owen sees Nicky? I think its about 6:30am-ish. How long has Nicky been waiting for Owen? Nicky is there because he cares. He cares about Owen and got a little emotional (he's not there to kick Owen's butt).

 

We had a similar discussion on TOU with Brad and Quinn (when Brad told Quinn to quick acting like a Faggot and Quinn punching Brad) I think there are parallels. Teenage guys don't always express how they are feeling with logical and well thought out words. Swearing and hitting are more standard fare.

28 was the best cliff ever. i am glad i am reading this as it is written because i do not know if it would have the same effect but i am pulling my hair out waiting now.

 

nicky coming back is so cool but i think that others are right. hes feelings were hurt because owen left and he hit owen because thats the 'guy' thing i think nicky is still a good guy and we still need to hear his side of the story.
