Tim Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 I hope that everyone is right about Nicky. I like that character. I was not expecting the reunion to start off like that. After reading it the first time, the first thought that came to mind was that Nicky encountered some flack after Owen was outed and disappeared. But, the encounter at the drive-in does not really fit well with that theory. I do not think the "anger" would be over waiting. Aiden and Owen had been home and left after the call from Dennis. If Nicky had been there all night, they would have seen each other sooner. Anyhow, Nicky knows Chris and Tony. Odds are that Nicky would have ran into someone he knew if he had been there all night. Something along this line (I cannot remember if this theory has been presented already) is....Did Aiden only talk to his mother while Owen was upstairs? I have problems with the playful thing too. Nicky probably knows what happened between Owen and his father. Due to that, I doubt that he would greet Owen in such a playful manner especially with a significant other (which should be apparent to Nicky) being present.
sat8997 Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Teenage guys don't always express how they are feeling with logical and well thought out words.
Conner Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 I'm getting even more antsy with all the possibilities that you guys are coming up with. I want you to stop but I don't want you to stop. Dom, help! Hugs, Conner

JoleChristopher Posted May 24, 2005 Author Posted May 24, 2005 what about nickys parents? maybe nicky came early because his parents did not want him to see owen because owen is gay.
TheZot Posted May 24, 2005 Posted May 24, 2005 Also, something may have happened with Nicky the previous night ... why is he there at 6:30 in the morning? How did Nicky track Owen down? Did someone call him to let him know, or did he figure it out on his own? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My money's on Karen having tracked him down and said interesting things to him. She is such a sweetheart, after all, with Owen's best interests at heart...

Tim Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 What are the possibilities that the person who told Nicky were either Adam or more likely, Janie? Janie has a motive. She may have gotten enough info from Aiden to figure out where Owen was from and where he lived. She needs to cure Aiden and in order to do that, Owen must be taken care of. Adam maybe had heard something about Nicky and wanted to talk to him on how to deal with being the friend of a gay person. Maybe that could be part of the reason he was at the BBQ Maybe they are a stretch, but they are possible!

The only people who really know about Nicky are Chris and Tony. Kitty, I'm going to have to bet against Gina too. Gina knows what happened to Owen and would not be giving information to anyone as to where they live (at least without permission from Tony or Owen). I think The Dovan parents also know where their kids live, but they seem to have done a good job of disowning the boys, so I doubt they would share that info with Nicky. I also am going to have to vote against Karen or Aiden having anything to do with Nicky Nicky coming over. In fact, I don't even think Aiden knows about Nicky. Nicky could have also figured it out by looking up the Dovan's in the phone book (somehow finding out what town they lived in). My $10 is on either Tony or Chris being involved or Nicky doing good detective work. Vic
Conner Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 You know what this reminds me of ... back in the days when I worked in an office building with hundreds of co-workers, we would have "office pools", where people would organize friendly wagers on the date someone's baby was going to be born, outcomes of football games, etc. I know that Internet gambling is a no-no, but I REALLY wish we could do that here. "I've got $10 on Karen having told Nicky." "Put $5 on Gina for me." Kitty <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That's funny. I had this same idea some time ago. I discussed it with Mel in the Chainlinked group. And, we can discuss whole new events, with you being Director, R&D andme, Communications. I have this idea around DomLuka money. Members would be alloted so much money and then they can make bets with one another on plot predictions. Mind you, that sounds like a lot of book keeping. What'd ya think? Hugs, Conner

Conner Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 I have an idea.....what we should do with the pool is that Myr has made an announcement that the site needs funds to keep going...so this is what I was thinking...how about those who place DomaLuka wagers donate that in real money to the site and the person who wins the DomaLuka wager donate in real money the amount they win so the site can remain in existence..Myr said the site needs $2500.00 each year to keep going....so, what do we all think? Michael <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ah, Michael, the altruist in you is always at work! But this suggestion is really a game. One that, hopefully, all could participate in. As an alternative, why not create a new topic in the forum for making pledges. If all members mailed in $5.00, that would cover it. Along with that, we could have challenges from one member to another. For example, I would donate $25.00 or whatever and then challenge you to match that donation. There are a few people I would love to challenge - are you reading this, Mark? No doubt, there may be one or two who would want to challenge me. Hugs, Conner

Davey Posted May 25, 2005 Posted May 25, 2005 I'd do it. Anythings worth doing to keep this board running! Dave

I was joking when I made the suggestion, but I think you're on to something. For starters, whoever is interested could read Myr's "Fund-raising" post. It's on the Domaholics main index page. He will take donations either by check or using PayPal. (You don't actually have to have a PayPal account; you can just use a credit card the same way you'd make any online purchase, and PayPal will transfer the funds directly to Myr.) As Conner said, a separate pinned topic would be good to keep track of the "competitions" going on. I like this, guys . Anybody else have thoughts about this? Kitty <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kitty, I agree..and I bet we all can contribute......and work out a system..after all in the end it will be benefitting us as part of one terrific great Forum:) so, we can create a pinned topic.....then figure out from there.....since you originally came up with the pool betting idea, I feel it only honorable that you get to choose the first bet topic....and set down the rules and the winner and the amount that they will donate..this way its all voluntary and if they win, well they can feel great in giving back to the Group by helping us keep the Forum going and the losers also win since the amount that they decide to bet on in whatever denominations you set if they lose say the loser then contributes $5.00 or even a $1.00..whatever you think fair and if we all know the rules ahead of time, one can decide to bet or not..but its a worthy project to contribute to:) Michael
Trebs Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 If anyone is looking for the donations page, it is Support GA
NaperVic Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 IMHO, I believe that if you wish to donate money to support GA I suggest you just go do it (and yes, read Myr's announcement and check out the Support page as Kitty has suggested). I believe it is a personal decision for all of us if we 1)want to donate and 2)how much would we want to donate. Some of what is being discussed makes it all so very public and I'd be afraid that some might be shamed or guilted into donating when they may not want to or worse, may not have the means to do so. What if I were to 'challenge' someone to donate $25. Do they donate the money (which they may not have had) or would they feel guilted into doing so? If they don't 'respond' to the challenge, would there be bad feelings on both sides? Would the person who didn't respond to the challenge just stop posting? Or what if someone planned on donating $50, but received 4 challenges of $25/each for a total of $100. How would that person feel? Do they donate another $50 to not look cheap? As I said above, if you want to donate, just go do it. Myr isn't listing a breakdown of what people are donating (and some people are donating anonymously) and I don't think there should be any posts here that show who is donating and what amounts are being donated. Just some thoughts... Vic
TomE Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 A number of you have suggested that Aiden is going to open a can of whoop ass on Nicky. That was my first thought as well and it still might happen. In fact, a big part me will thoroughly enjoy it. Not because I want to see Nicky get his ass kicked. It would just be so shmoopy for the Aiden-Owen relationship. Will Aiden do that? Remember early in the story when Aiden was none too happy with Owen when he intervened in Aiden's fight with Dennis? Now, circumstances have changed substantially since then. I'm just curious. That's what I like about this forum. If you have an idea or thought and you want to see if it floats, you just throw it out here and wait to see how many members want to gnaw on your bone, I mean bones. Hugs, Conner <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I agree with you, Conner. It's a great forum Here are a couple of thoughts I have about what may happen: I think Aiden is going to be angry and puzzled at what Nikky just did. I feel Aiden has something to do with Nikky being at the apartment. If I remember correctly, he knows Owens story and all about Nikky. I can see him trying to do something nice and special to surprise Owen, so took it upon himself to get in touch with Nikky. Through-out this chapter it was Owen who was tired, cold, wet, etc and then suddenly Aiden is so tired he can't keep up in climbing the stairs to home and bed? Dennis' call is still a puzzle. After Owen read him the "riot act" earlier in the day I find it difficut to believe he called him about his dog. Yes Dennis loves this dog and doesn't want it given away, or gotten rid of, but why call Owen? Reilly's house is much closer, and Dennis has spent time not only with Reilly, but also his mom and his dad, Paul. Dennis has been there before, stopping in while he was out walking the dog. The only reason I can come up with to call Owen is that Dennis trusts him, especially with all Owen knows about Dennis' family life. I also think with the repeated references about Owen being wet, cold, tired, un-dry clothes, and the sneezes, that Owen is going to get sick. I'm thinking very seriously ill. Maybe even so serious that Tony and Chris contact their parents about it and their reaction to this news bring closure to Owen, one way or another. (just a theory) Tom
Conner Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Oops ... I posted just after you, Vic, and just now saw your post. It looks like you and I are talking about two different things. Anyway, if anyone besides the ones who have already posted have an interest in doing any of this, speak now! If not, that's cool, too. Kitty <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok, there are two ideas on the table here and they're independent of one another. 1. A fun game where all who want to participate are given say 500 Domluka bucks. You then make 'bets' with other participants on outcomes to Dom's stories or some issue in Dom's stories. This is imaginary money only. Details on how this would all work would have to be developed. The game would need a bookkeeper and an 'arbitrator' of sorts. 2. A pinned topic specifically designed to raise real money (by donation only) for the forum as per Myr's announcement. Presumably, Myr would have a veto on this whole concept. Vic raises some good points and I believe they can be addressed satisfactorily. I'm sure many forum members have been involved in different fundraising events and realize that active involvement is essential for success. Btw, is Canadian money real money??? Conner
NaperVic Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Adam's behavior in Chapter 28 seems typical for a Freshman in Highschool. He's been taught so many things about gays and now he is finding out that several of his friends are gay. He's in a tough spot. He wants to hang out with Aiden, Owen, and now even Riley, but by doing so, he exposes himself to the wrath and ridicule of others. Remember, Adam has gotten picked on a lot, the last thing he needs is give people more reasons to hassle him. Yeah, yeah, we all want him to be strong and 'f*ck what anyone else thinks', but he is dealing with his own issues and an accusation of being gay or hanging out with gay folks could be devastating for someone that age. Adam is taking steps towards acceptance and there is hope for him. He knows that Owen, Aiden, and Riley are good guys and at least for now, he can be their 'closeted' friend. Over time, and when he is in a stronger position mentally, he can one day be a proud and public friend (like Ryan). We'll see if Aiden, Owen, and Riley could accept friendship at that level. Vic
dkstories Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Poor Trebs, the thought of anybody but Aaron having sex just grosses you out, doesn't it? I could try to reassure you by quoting Jude 'There's nothing wrong with you Trebs'.
Masked Monkey Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 I'll have you know Trebs has no problems whatsoever when it comes to sex and another person. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just what did you do to get Trebs to buy that cable modem for you? Snow Dog the Domaholic Danderthal
Masked Monkey Posted May 26, 2005 Posted May 26, 2005 Btw, is Canadian money real money??? Conner <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Not since the mid 70's Snow Dog the Domaholic Danderthal (is that like Cecil the Seasick Sea Serpent?)

Anyway, if anyone besides the ones who have already posted have an interest in doing any of this, speak now! If not, that's cool, too. Kitty <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Kitty and Vic....and to anyone else who thought we were serious..we were not and were joking around....the law of unintended consequences gone awry...oops and apologies to any one who thought otherwise. I guess Vic that you haven't read all our posts which were said in jest and for the fun of us. If you misunderstood all that banter and silliness and back and forth on this one Vic and took it seriously..it was intended as fun....and nothing more...I guess even the master of skits and banter can misunderstood humor now and again too....oops...but again, it was meant as humor...honestly. To repeat Vic, we were joking, and not intending to shame any one into donating or anything like that...and no one was suggesting that gambling be turned into real donations....that's up to anyone who wishes to or not donate and is personal and private to each person. The same holds true for our silly online fake pool of guessing games of what will happen in plots etc or whose prediction was correct and so on I sinerely hope that clears that one up....next time I will post a disclaimer so we know its jest/humor/fun/joking/silly banter and stuff to break up the day and old fashioned non gambling general banter and goofing around.
