Palantir Posted August 3, 2012 Posted August 3, 2012 Good grief! I didn't know anyone still read Jack Chalker.
Greg_A Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Yep - it was from Chalker's Midnight at the Well of Souls. Your turn!
Palantir Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 Podga's turn, not mine. I didn't even recognise it till he said the name.
podga Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 OK, mine's from a movie, early 90s. "It's a hell of a thing, killin' a man. You take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have." "Yeah, well, I guess they had it comin.'" "We all have it comin', kid."
Andy78 Posted August 4, 2012 Posted August 4, 2012 It doesn't sound familiar, but since I really only watch horror and sci-fi if it's not one of those genres then I'm never going to know it; and t really doesn't sound very horror or sci-fi.
WhitePhoenix Posted August 5, 2012 Posted August 5, 2012 Ok here's one for you. 'We had forgiven each other but our words still hung in memory, not to be forgotten.'
WhitePhoenix Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 its was written in the last 25 years. Does that help?
podga Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Doesn't help me. Genre? Or maybe author's nationality?
Andy78 Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 We now definitely need the genre or we're never going to get this
Palantir Posted August 9, 2012 Posted August 9, 2012 Hm! First in a series but it opens with reference to a past history? I get the feeling it might be an angsty, relationship driven, type of story. Is it a series many people have read?
Andy78 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 That doesn't really help. Can we get a useful clue please
Frostina Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 it's complicated to describe the genre. but... It's part romance, part historic fiction with a hint of fantasy thrown in. Does that help? ps: i googled it sooo i am NOT going to answer 1
comicfan Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Fantasy I am usually good with but this one has me stumped.
Andy78 Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 I have absolutely no idea at all, and that is unusual for me
Palantir Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 The latest clue made me think of Mercedes Lackey - but she started publishing more than 25 years ago. Grrr! lol - I'm close to googling too (except I use Duckduckgo).
podga Posted August 10, 2012 Posted August 10, 2012 Mercedes Lackey doesn't really write historic fiction though, does she? I've only read one book, but I seem to remember pure fantasy, talking pets etc not much history. I like the phrase, it's very evocative, but I officially give up and shall wait for the next phrase to try my luck again. And if anybody wants to make it easy for me, please quote a Greek writer (in Greek, if possible, because I probably won't have read the translation )
