Man, I love poetry. Bumped into this accidentally this morning...

 

 

Even in our sleep,

pain which cannot forget

falls drop by drop upon the heart,

until, in our own despair,

against our will,

comes wisdom

through the awful grace of God.

This is beautiful.. it speaks to me.... another that, though read daily, I will never tire.  Thank you for sharing this AC ..

Its awesome Ben. Like Tim said it really speaks to every reader. Everyone have their share of pain in their lives. Poem is so perfect with simple words. I love when it was with simple words... :D

I'd like to share a poem I come back to often. It was found in an envelope on a soldier who was killed to be opened by his parents in the event of his death. For some time it was believed he was the poet, but it turned out it was a much older text. Who originally wrote it is still unkonwn.

 

Do not stand at my grave and weep;

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning's hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circle flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there. I did not die.

That's so sad and a terrific poem. I has given me chills, reading it. Such a wonderful poem. Thank you for sharing with us... :)

I have seen this sometime past, I know not where and was moved then as now.

Some of the poems and letters written by soldiers during the American Civil War are astounding. Of course that was a time when people wrote and many of them were well educated in the classic style so the language is beautiful in its self.

I've heard it before also, but it's another that you can hear again and again. It's a beautiful thing!

Crap!  I think I missed the deadline for the anthology!  I read the time difference wrong... :(

I had a major brain fart... :facepalm: I was thinking 12:00pm BST was midnight, not noon.   :blushing: So I missed the deadline by about 4 1/2 hours.  I haven't heard anything, so I'm assuming it wasn't accepted.  Which I completely understand.  I'm pretty upset with myself over it.  I usually like to have things done well ahead of time just so things like this don't happen.  I'll post it here once I get over my mistake.  I know I shouldn't beat myself up so much over it, but I am very disappointed to not be able to take part in it.  Especially over such a silly mistake on my part.  Oh well.

More than ok :)  I loved it.  It describes falling asleep to rainfall perfectly. :hug:

Don't worry Val, they will definitely reply to your mail. It may take one or two days late sometimes... :) I got my reply after approxly after two and half days...
