Have a good day wherever you are and just be smart if it gets dark. Can’t recall exactly how many years ago this was (within ten, I think), but the big excitement then was the moon was going to red, and one could look at it directly without worry, so yeah for that. Sadly, clouds spoiled the view - as in there wasn’t a view - that night. 3 2

I researched a lot about solar and lunar eclipses (because story depends on it—specifically Ch 21—and I want my facts straight). This picture is from a supermoon eclipse. It is very pretty :i 3 1

He'd known the dogs for a while, but belonged to his dad's roommate. Dad went out to the garage for 10 minutes when he returned the boy was dead. Official cause, dog bite. These two dogs also attacked and bit a women at the same property a week prior. This is happening too often. Don't leave your kids alone with this giant dogs. I know, I've heard it all before... they are gentle, they are sweet, they've been raised properly. Maybe, but don't trust them with your kids. That goes for any of the bull breeds/mastifs and other large guarding/protection breeds. It breaks my heart every time I hear about these instances. It's not just bully breeds... even "gentle" breeds like a golden retriever can turn. Dogs have been domesticated, yes.. but they still have wild instincts. Even a chihuahua's bite can be deadly if inflicted in exactly the right spot.. especially a small child or infant. I'm not sure where I saw this but it's a good reminder; The sweetest dog can bite. The meanest dog can wag its tail. 4 1
Popular Post kbois Posted April 8 Popular Post Posted April 8 We just passed the height of our partial eclipse... I'm still here, haven't been raptured... (like I'd ever make it through the mythical pearly gates in the first place). I stuck my head outside and didn't notice any difference. Ours was only about 65%... last time it was more like 80% and it got dimmer. I guess I can stick around another 20 years... Florida will get the total Eclipse then (cue Bonnie Tyler). Enjoy the rest of your day! 1 4 1
MichaelS36 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Started to get darker here.. interestingly the birds have stopped chirping completely. Totality in Niagara in 3 minutes. 2 now.. it's darker still.. But we have total cloud cover, so it's like a storm moving in. 2 2
MichaelS36 Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Brightening up again. Birds began chirping once more. Squirrels didn't seem to care one way or the other. Well, it was an interesting 5 minutes. 1 3
Kitt Posted April 8 Posted April 8 Big dud here. Got dimmer a bit, then a huge cloud moved in and we couldn't see anything. 2 2
kbois Posted April 8 Posted April 8 I'm really not a fan of Mondays at the moment. I'm by myself in the office with one maintenance guy and my housekeeper for now. I'm trying to hire a front desk person but haven't had much luck. Anyway... I just found out there's a registered sex offender living on one of our annual sites... so I get to deal with that tomorrow when my assistant will be here. I will never go by myself to deliver a notice to vacate the premise under those circumstances. Oy... 3

Mom asked my sister to rehome the dog. Nope. I asked that she takes the dog to a trainer. Nope. She invented a scenario where he "nipped" at my nephew and just missed the mark. (She has no clue, she wasn't in the room). Dogs are safe until they're not. 5 1
Popular Post Starrynight22 Posted April 8 Popular Post Posted April 8 The eclipse was amazing! I'm just outside Cincinnati and we had 99.4% at my work. It was so thrilling to be able to see it. This very poor quality photo was taken by me with my phone 7

He's always on his gentle leader outside and he's never left with children. Cuz you just never know. Kids are small and fast and loud.. and can get dogs over excited.. not on purpose, but no, i'd never leave a dog with a kid. 6

It was kind of neat here even with the clouds.. the birds stopped singing suddenly. It got darker but never really dark. But it was neat when the light returned and the birds began again. It felt a bit stephen kingish with weird darkness and silence. 7
Popular Post kbois Posted April 9 Popular Post Posted April 9 Happy moment this morning... On my way to work I decided to take a different street out of our neighborhood to avoid traffic at the busy intersection. We're close to an elementary school candidate when I got to the stop sign there was a crossing guard there.... an older guy probably in his 70s... .... he was smiling and waving to all the cars going through the intersection. What a nice way to start my day! I hope everyone has a great day! 1 5

On the flip side of the coin, my mother had a dog long before she married my father. When I was born, that dog became my protector and she slept next to my crib and later on, next to my bed. She was sweet and very gentle. There are pictures of me grabbing on to her as I learned how to walk. My father told the story that one day my mother was spanking me and the dog started growling and charged at her to make her stop. I was too young to remember that incident, but what I can say is that my parents never raised a hand to me. Still, it is a big risk leaving kids alone with a dog. Edited April 9 by spyke 6

Popular Post Mikiesboy Posted April 9 Author Popular Post Posted April 9 (edited) Is it Tuesday? I think so. I've been doing the taxes...always a good time, but being unemployed (yay) changed our tax stuff and we're getting a nice refund. We'll probably save most of it cuz next year we may have to pay. LOL Anyway.. it's sunny. The Joke of the day is: Our Premier of Ontario has helped us all out financially by forcing our Liquor Board to start handing out paper bags again, rather than charging us for resuable ones, since families are struggling so much. (Maybe just not buying booze would be more beneficial to struggling people.. but that's another story). That'll mean a lot to us! LOL we haven't bought any booze since Christmas 2022! What a joke. Anyway, that's the funny/pathetic story for the day. Edited April 9 by Mikiesboy 3 5

It ended up being OK.... even though a certain extra tall ex-cop couldn't make it down here in time lol. I took two of my guys with me but no one answered the door...which we pretty much knew going in. The notice was posted and I have the neighbors on both sides on the lookout for me. If either unapproved occupant is still there on Thursday then it gets elevated to the legal department. I don't need to go back there again. Apparently the Sheriff's department handed out flyers with the guys info and picture to all the neighbors so most everyone in that section is aware of him. You know how these communities are... they’ll make it perfectly known that he's being watched. 5

I don't drive any longer due to unexplained and unpredictable dizzy spells. Likely, my medication which they don't want to change. It's settled down quite a bit but I still won't take the chance and drive. 5

I do airport pickup service.. even can get reimbursed for mileage and tolls.. lol. You might have to scrunch down in my car... maybe... there's a good amount of head and legroom. There's a sunroof you can stick your head out if needed. 😆 I'll keep you in mind for further services... can you bring your cane? 3 2
