Is that the custard you can pour, or is it the really thick type?

One of my favourite dessert recipes is home-made custard tarts, liberally sprinkled with freshly grated nutmeg whilst still hot just after taking them from the oven.

 

Delicious eaten still warm, but absolutely heavenly eaten cold. (I'm salivating just thinking about them!)

I can make both.. i love custards.   Tonight i made pourable because we had some muffins that have seen fresher days.  Perfect broken up and covered with custard. 

 

I love baked custards as well.  Such a delicate flavour.

Had a bit of a chuckle at the DMV today.  So, the last week or more I've been working on getting all my legal documents changed back to my maiden name since the divorce is final.  This includes debit/credit cards, discount cards, memberships, etc.  So, I say I'm changing my name.  The usual response is congratulations, which I smile and accept.  If they ask me why or when the wedding is I shake my head and say divorce.  To which I get a myriad of responses: apology, pity, embarrassment, etc.  I smile and reassure them it's fine.

 

So, the woman at the DMV wins in best reaction and response hands down.  The same exact pattern, the reason for change, divorce, condolences, I reassure, and without missing a beat, she smiles back and says, "Well. enjoy your newly won freedom."  Simple response, nicely done, and it made me feel great!

yeah, i know you do ... but dont. honestly time is your stories best friend .. time will make it easier to edit... finish it .. then edit it.   it's something i learned the hard way.
