Gary L Posted January 27 Posted January 27 About to start a new treatment which is called Mirikizumab. Who thinks up these names??? Interestingly, it costs $30k a year in US and a fraction of that in Europe. Here in Spain it’s totally free. A bit crazy 😝 4 1

Mikiesboy Posted January 29 Author Posted January 29 Happy Freezing Thursday ... we got an official cold weather/frostbite alert today! Keep warm out there. Today is Do you like puzzles? Jigsaw, crosswords, cryptograms, Sudoku or others? I like all these myself and do them often, less so jigsaws cuz of the space needed for them. But i like them. So, since it's so cold .. Wrap up and do a puzzle of some sort! 5
Popular Post Kitt Posted January 29 Popular Post Posted January 29 OK then. It's colder than usual around here. Our high was 18*f. The dog does NOT like cold. We let her out to our fenced back yard and she does her business in record time. Hubby opened the door to let her back in, and here comes the dog @ mach Jesus, followed closely by a tiny sparrow, whom it took 3 of us a good 10 min to chase back outside! She seemed to want to stay in the warm. No panicky flapping, no fluttering against the windows, just stayed out of reach, landing on curtain rods and the like. 1 5
Mikiesboy Posted January 30 Author Posted January 30 It took me a few minutes to figure out it is Friday, this morning. Several clues i had were wrong, so it is not yet Saturday. As well, our furnace decided not work overnight, it was rather chilly this morning, and we still have extreme cold alerts today and tonight. The furnace guy showed this morning. Yay. Have a fantastic day, and please try to avoid becoming a popsicle. 4 1

Popular Post kbois Posted February 2 Popular Post Posted February 2 So... Since I've been back up north where the Arctic tundra is apparently a thing I may have forgotten about in my 17 years in the Sunshine State, I've been trying to get my various aches and pains and overall health in check. I found a great primary care physician who I really like. Does it seem like I have a million referrals? Yep. I've been going to physical therapy once a week to work on the hips and knees because they got really messed up when I was battling the ankle tenosynovitis for 1.5 years. Its been helping. I didn't realize how off my gait really is. I've also made a decision to have weight loss surgery later this year. I'm not sure exactly when as it depends on how soon I drop 30lbs before the bariatric doctor will schedule it. I also can't take time off from the new job during the summer as it's the busy season. So I think if I can't have it by early June then September is realistic. In the meantime, I have to have a slew of preliminary tests done. Most I have to schedule, which I've done for a couple of them so far. I didn't need an appointment for an EKG or chest x-ray so I decided to get those out of the way after my PT today. Can I just say I was mightily impressed with the hospital I go to for all this stuff. My PT ended right before 11 and I was in my car on the way back home by 11:33. Both the X-ray and EKG were really quick with very little wait. Practically unheard of. So I've set the wheels in motion. I know it's going to be a long journey but it'll be worth it in the end if I can live much healthier. Wish me luck. Have a good day everyone! 6

This getting older really sucks bigly, so do what you need to do to get healthy. We don't realize how interconnected things are (the hip bone connected to the thigh bone, the thigh bone connected to the knee bone) until you have something go awry, and you then realize that your other side is messed up from the unconscious compensating that you've been doing. You've got our support! 4
