Starrynight22 Posted February 8 Posted February 8 Hello all It supposed to snow AGAIN Sunday in my part of ohio. High of 26F or some nonsense. But then Tuesday it should be in the low 50s. Which is great as I'm so tired of being cold. Also I wish I could knit my own socks like tim. I love socks. I only have bare feet to shower and sleep. I loathe flipfops and barely wear sandals. I feel safer with a covered foot. 1 3
kbois Posted February 8 Posted February 8 -5°F/-20°C Omg. I think Hell has frozen over! I better go check on Lucifer. It might be a two pair of socks day. 1 2
Gary L Posted February 8 Posted February 8 At -8°C last March in central Spain I told the owner of the rental I just wanted to go home. One of his hunter dachshunds had cut the power to the boiler so no warmth and then the water got cut off. All this for $3500 for a fortnight of “Hell frozen over”! 3

kbois Posted February 8 Posted February 8 We braved the cold today and went grocery shopping. I loaded up on chicken and pork so I can cook it all and freeze it so dinnertime is easier. As much as I like having a day off during the week, I'm not a fan of working until 6 two nights a week. If I precook everything then the troops can feed themselves. I made a batch of jalapeno popper chicken in the crockpot and hooooboy...its a bit spicy lol Its turkey burgers for dinner tonight, then kicking back and watching the game. Have a good one everyone! 2

You need to touch base with Annelle. She'll hook you up. LOL In all seriousness, the freezer is a godsend when doing meal prep or doing a full recipe when you're single or just two. I've taken to cooking mini meatloaves that I'll throw in the freezer. Pull one out in the morning, defrost in the fridge, throw it in the countertop oven and while it's heating, do your potatoes and green beans. Easy peasy. Edited February 9 by spyke 2
Popular Post Mikiesboy Posted February 9 Author Popular Post Posted February 9 (edited) Nothing about cooking is easy or peasy, imo. It's a job that needs doing, end of. That said, it is World Pizza Day. I still have half of one from last week in the freezer but i'm not making that tonight. Tonight is cabbage, carrots and onions with spicey beef and buckwheat noodles. i promised Him that, He loves it. Have a wonderful day, folks. Edited February 9 by Mikiesboy 5 1

Okay, Ima going to need the recipe for this, because it sounds absolutely delish, and I have no idea what spices are required to make the beef spicy. Also, what type of cabbage do you use? Please and thank you for your attention to this matter. 😊 2 1

Popular Post Mikiesboy Posted February 10 Author Popular Post Posted February 10 Okay, Happy Tuesday. It's snowing here atm, but that is due to end very soon. It's warmer at 25f rather than -2 as it has been. It's supposed to get up to 34f today. Defo going out. Today, i've finished editing my short story and sent it to a beta reader. Time for fresh eyes. Time for me to do something else as well. Last year, I knit a sweater for myself, but ended up not liking how it fit. I frogged it the other day and found a raglan sleeved pattern. For that, i need to knit German Short Rows. Which i've done before, but i need some practice with parts of that. So, that, as well as working on a few other works in progress, is my plan for today. And a walk and making butter chicken and lentils again for dinner. Someone requested that. Have a good one, whatever you get up to!!! 6

It's supposed to get up to 71f today where yesterday the high was 47. We call this pneumonia weather in the South. I'm thinking that since you got a repeat request for your butter chicken and lentils, that nobody in the DiC would object if you posted it in the recipe section. 😉😉 Looking forward to seeing your sweater project and I hope you have a wonderful walk! 3 2

Mikiesboy Posted February 11 Author Posted February 11 Happy: Today, i need to walk to the store for a few supplies, then go over and take our part time dog out. Come back and chop onions to freeze. Ah, the glorious life of the retired. lol.. i'm joking, it's waaaay better than working. I knitted a gauge swatch for my sweater and i met gauge for the yarn and needles i want to use, so i can cast on.. i am still knitting socks and a shawl. I think i need to stop adding to my WIPs. LOL. i do finish them but for me it's the journey not the destination. Have a good one folks!! 4
Kitt Posted February 11 Posted February 11 51 minutes ago, Mikiesboy said: for me it's the journey not the destination. I have a lap afghan (lapghan?) working. Basic granny square center with working around to size. Has gotten to the point where it is big enough that you don't see the growth with each row, and now seems like it takes forever! 5

The sweater will be too once i get past the neck and raglan sections...just a lot of knitting, but i'll find something to watch. LOL. Show us a pic of your afghan, i'd love to see it. 5
Popular Post kbois Posted February 12 Popular Post Posted February 12 Having a child with mental health issues is so damn hard. Tonight was the first night in a long time that I let my emotions get the better of me. Its frustrating to reach the point where something inside you breaks and you realize yet again, you're going to be blamed for things beyond your control, the things that f*¢¥ up their mind completely. Throwing in the towel is so tempting, but just not feasible when I know he isn't a bad kid, but a kid that bad things happened to. Hopefully we can convince him to go back to therapy. I'll push through the negative emotions because I'm his mom. Its what I do. 6
