Aneros Posted April 25, 2007 Posted April 25, 2007 I just finished reading Desert Dropping and I loved it. I am just wondering if a sequel to it might be in the works. I would really like to see what else happens to the characters, mostly how Rory's Nevada friends react to him, as well as who Luke begins to see and the twists and turns that that might entail. Any information would be helpful. Thanks.
writeincode Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I agree to someextent but i would prefer the completion of WT. Also, if a sequel were to be created I wthink it would have to be quite short. 5 chap max.
Menzoberranzen Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I want a sequel and I think Dom said he might write a sequel focusing on Luke. Of course that might just be wishful thinking on my part. Regardless, a sequel will give new hope to us LRITE's
Krista Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Eh, I think Rory and Seth worked out just fine. I have read Desert Dropping twice - I may start it a third time, but if there was a sequel then I probably would want it to be based on Luke. To see what he's really thinking and like would be great. Site Administrator Graeme Posted April 27, 2007 Site Administrator Posted April 27, 2007 While I would love to see a sequel, I would only want Dom to write one if he was sure it was going to be as good as the original. It's the reason I've resisted writing sequels so far -- I haven't been able to come up with an idea as good as the original stories, and I don't want to cheapen the originals by writing something that dragged them down.

NickolasJames8 Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 SLITE. Seth dumps Rory and steals Luke away from Grandma Alice????
AFriendlyFace Posted April 28, 2007 Posted April 28, 2007 LOL, SLITE sounds good to me! I liked Luke and Seth a little better than Rory anyway
Aneros Posted April 28, 2007 Author Posted April 28, 2007 (edited) Thanks for all the information. I can see that I am not the only one that would want a sequel. I can understand the standpoint of those that say the the story was wrapped up, but I would like to see where Luke would go from there. But it is up to Dom, if he can figure out if a sequel would be as good as the original then I can see that he would write one, you don't want to lessen the impact of the original with an imperfect sequel. But heres to hoping that he does come up with a good enough idea. What is this SLITE that everyone talks about? "Seth and Luke in the end?" Edited April 28, 2007 by Aneros
Guest raz Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I never really warmed up to Seth. I mean, he did cute, sweet things, but for some reason, it didn't win me over. I think the character just wasn't appealing to me the way that Luke was. I still think of the main couple in Desert Dropping as being Luke and Rory.
bodgy Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 (edited) changed my mind on posting. Edited April 29, 2007 by bodgy
MikeL Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 What is this SLITE that everyone talks about? "Seth and Luke in the end?" You've got it! It's an acronym game that appears in the forum for every one of Dom's stories. Occasionally you see a really clever one.
Menzoberranzen Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 Or did Dom mean 'SLITE' chance of a sequel? :S One can only hope Dom has better orthography than that.
Krista Posted April 29, 2007 Posted April 29, 2007 I would think "SLITE" would be clever if he's not really planning a sequel. It throws people off of what he's really thinking and gets his fans' creative thoughts flowing as well. anyway, newer and more fresh things from Dom would be better than a Desert Dropping sequel. Desert Dropping is a grand story, it was a great story and a sequel would be nice. As a story though, it stands well alone too. Krista

AFriendlyFace Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 You've got it! It's an acronym game that appears in the forum for every one of Dom's stories. Occasionally you see a really clever one. I believe it started with Desert Dropping though. There was a huge debate over whether or not Rory should end up with Aaron or Luke, then finally whether it would be Luke or Seth.
MikeL Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 "I decided that Luke was mine"...that phrase stuck in my mind through the rest of Desert Dropping. I kept thinking there would be a closer relationship developing between Rory and Luke. What else could it mean? The LRITE fans must have perked up when they read it, but nothing came of it. There must be more to the Luke/Rory story. There has to be a sequel. I hope Dom thinks so too. Otherwise, the master of cliffhangers has left "I decided that Luke was mine" as his greatest achievement."I decided that Luke was mine" was simply referring to their friendship, nothing more. while yes, i too wished for LRITE, i doubt it'll ever happen. Thanks for clearing that up especially higlighting the first part of the sentence: "Maybe Luke
Davey Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 I liked where the story finished off. Don't get me wrong a sequel would be great but I'm pretty sure I could live with out it. Fresh new ideas, maybe along the same kind of theme would be good... I've heard that ITFB is somewhat different but Ive not read it yet..( I'm waiting until it's all there completed). Lets face facts, Dom could write on just about any topic and still make it enthralling, he's that level of a writer.
