Poems written for NaPoWriMo 2019

Nine guys at a summer camp. Eight waiters: Rob, Nate, Brian, Greg, Steve, Dan, Paul, Jim. And a counselor: Andy.

The waiters have a lot of fun in their generous spare time -- the usual camp activities, plus shooting some hoops, playing some cards, and generally messing around. And at least one of them's a joker.

The counselor has other plans, aiming for a different kind of fun. But fun.

Ashlee Vance is a young lonely attorney living on her own in Washington, DC. When someone sends the perfect woman her way, she has to put her fears and everyone else's doubts behind her to win her best chance at love.

Ziyu Yin owns a struggling tea house. He is on the verge of closing down but refuses to give up the tea house. When San Meor offers him a chance to save the Precious Teahouse, he doesn't hesitate.

Boccaccio's Decameron, a story of renewal and recreation in defiance of a decimating pandemic, relates how ten self-isolated Italians pass the time regaling each other with tall tales during the Black Plague. While Covid19 wasn't nearly as decimating, the opportunity for such entertainment did exist. As a takeoff on that idea, this short story might well be a modern version of one of the tales, recounting events of earlier, less stressful times.

Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to The Playground - the biggest and wildest competition featuring your favorite stars. Over the next seven days, ten celebrities will be living in our Playground Mansion and competing in a variety of games. But they better hold nothing back, because there can only be one winner! We met Maurice and David in The Watcher. This story stands alone, but it might be more enjoyable if you read The Watcher first. These are two men of a seasoned vintage, and both, separately, have suffered great loss. This is a quick peek into their lives a month after a fateful meeting in the park.
