One Hundred and Fifty-Five Sonnets - 35. mark of equality and a flash of anger
.
Sonnet No. 69
Equality has a mark and symbol –
A brave set where curves and lines extend,
And their chance of meeting is not dismal,
For though separate, their motion is a blend.
I don’t want any misunderstanding
To ever stick between us good or bad,
For Love's nothing, if not always mending:
A frown to a smile; laughter for the sad.
So sixty-nine must be you and I,
The perfect dance immortal, ever set
To chase and follow, and never die,
Where one energy fuels both in duet.
Round and round we may go, but there breed
Infinite Love for the other to feed.
Sonnet No. 70
Why is being Gay so goddamn fucking hard? –
What is the deal with 'them' to get over it,
And their smug sense of being 'normal' bullshit,
As they pity-fest us in their sad regard.
So why pretend such a pompous-ass blowhard
Any place in your life has a place to fit,
And that 'common' opinion matters a bit
When it just toughens us to be more diehard.
I need them to keep their dirty-minded hate
As a projection that shines on but themselves,
For the years go on, and it is getting late
To reason where their dark anxiety delves –
But, then like a bubble, you alleviate,
As your kiss drives all fear outside of ourselves.
