Salvation - 22. Chapter 22

Peter was surprised to see us as we cleared customs. The limo was empty, with no welcoming boys. I sat in the back with them.

Arriving home, there on the porch were all of the boys and Maria. David came and opened the door. As the boys got out, he introduced himself and then the others. Maria had tears in her eyes as she looked at the very young boys. I now had a 7-year-old.

"Maria, after we get everyone settled, I'll tell you what's happening."

The boys headed to the dining room, where Maria had soup for everyone.

"David, what's happening with the expansion."

"The beds were delivered and are in the rooms. The bathrooms are about 50 percent finished. I think we can house the boys you brought home today, but some of the guys want to move upstairs."

"It is important that these boys get a room to themselves, even if you boys need to double up. David, I need your help. I have to go back and bring the rest."

I didn't worry. David called together the older boys and discussed what I told him. Between them, they came up with a bedroom chart.

"David, I need to go shopping for them. Can you write down their name and the sizes of the clothing they are now wearing? If it is too large, mark a smaller size, and if it is too small, mark a larger size. Then I'm going shopping, you and Jon can come with me. I think I'll need help."

Shopping was an eye-opener for Jon and, in all honesty, for me as well. We headed to a J. C. Penny's store in the next town over from us. We picked up four carts. I handed one list to Peter; he took it and went. Similarly, I gave a list to David and Jon. "David, show Jon what he needs to do,"

Shopping done, now all that is left is to pay. That was accomplished with the store manager verifying my credit card. I'm sure I made their daily total for the day. What he didn't know, I'd be back in two days.

Leaving the store, David said they were hungry. Passing a pizza shop David ask if they could have pizza. "David, let's get something else, and we can have pizza for dinner tonight." He was okay with that.

Lunch was sandwiches and hamburgers with the trimmings. Jon had an idea of what we ordered, when he saw the hamburger he said, "McDonald" although the size we were served would have made two of theirs.

The grocery shopping was something else, again, four carts. We didn't buy 1 gallon of milk, but 8 gallons, and then we had to buy chocolate milk as well. Cereal, several boxes of all kinds, fruits, bags of oranges, bananas, apples, going by the meat counter, Jon saw the sausages, so we had to buy several pounds of sausages. I asked the clerk for a 50-pound sack of potatoes. Peter looked at me, "Before the week is over, we will have 30 boys."

"We'll have to make another run in a few days. I know how our boys eat, and these will be no better."

On the way home, we stopped, and I ordered 20 large pizzas with extra cheese and mushrooms to be delivered at 5:30. "Do you think that will be enough?"

"I hope so, Peter. I'm sure Maria can whip something up if necessary." I was thinking about that when I realized with all of the food we bought, we needed eggs and bacon. "Peter, here is my card. Go back to the store and get some eggs and turkey bacon. Use your judgment."

We unloaded the car onto the porch, David went and got the boys, the clothes were placed on the dining room table, the groceries were taken to the kitchen where Maria told them where to put things.

The people I bought the house from must have entertained a lot. The kitchen had two huge freezers, similar refrigerators, and a restaurant size cooking range. The ovens were separate and were restaurant size as well. After all of that food was stored, there still was a lot of room.

"Maria, I ordered pizza for dinner tonight. It'll be delivered at 5:30 and is already paid. Give this to the delivery boy."

David and Jon, with their slips, began to give the new clothes to the boys. "Steven, have the boys selected a room?"

"Yes, Dad, I put their name on their doors."

"How many rooms on the second floor are empty?"

"Only four. Charlie wants to stay there. He has a younger brother now. David has a room to himself and your room."

"Show Jon a room."

With all of the boys coming, we'll have to double up. As much as I didn't want to do that, I had no recourse except to build a new building, and I didn't want to do that as it would isolate the boys. Thinking about that, maybe I was a little selfish in that I would be isolated from the boys.

Dinner that evening was funny. Several of the boys never had pizza, so they were being shown. Of course, a few pieces got dropped, luckily on their plates and not the floor. Although I think if it were on the floor, they would pick it up and eat it, who knows what they were fed when held by the Russians.

They all had chocolate milk, I had coffee, and I was surprised when Jon asked for coffee as well.

I mentioned that I'd be leaving tomorrow morning. Jon looked at me. I nodded, yes. Jon knew about the others that would be coming.

I called Ronnie and told him I'd be at the airport at 6 am. Peter heard me. He'd be ready.

That night the new boys slept in their new rooms, and Charlie didn't crawl in my bed. He had a roommate that was his age.

I was ready to go to the airport at 5. Peter was waiting as I took two cups of coffee, one for each of us.

"When are you planning on returning?"

"I should return tomorrow very late. The pilots will need some rest before we leave."

"How many boys?"

"Same as last time, 10. Peter, it is hard for me to understand a man who prefers a boy. If it weren't for these men, there would be no boys sold for sex."

"There will always be deviants in this world."

Arriving at the airport, Peter came on board to get a coffee refill. "I'll let you know when we leave and when we should arrive."

I'm most likely going to show my ignorance of architecture here.Couldn't you build a building that connects the house sort of like how a hospital adds a wing?Maybe have a hallway that connects the two buildings so  all  the boys are sort of in the same place .Just a thought

Yes, you could. Carleton is afraid of losing touch with his boys

Wow. I've had to play catch up. Don't read chapters for just over a day and look at the change in the story :) Triple the amount of Boys.

I love shopping. Like, LOVE shopping. Even grocery shopping. I would LOVE to shop for this household whenever they need it.

They definitely need to re-look at the House/property as a whole and how to make it suit their needs. It would be hard to believe he is going to go from 10 to 30 Boys and then just stop - no more Boys.

Those Ambassadors sure will have to help with costs.

If he was worried about Dogs before...

I don't think he'll be worried aboutcteh dogs after all the.boys there. He should worry about how many dogs

Are you sure?

For groceries I am a 'make-a-list-but-still-go-down-every-aisle-just-in-case-because-you-never-know- what-you're-gonna-find-or-that-you-may-have-forgotten' kind of shopper. Plus I am very picky with fresh fruit and veg so can be in that department for ages. Then again, I can only push one trolley at a time so will always need help with Trolley Pushers.

LOL. My Father and I hated going shopping with each other. He was a know-what-you-need-then-straight-in-straight-out kind of shopper. Was like we only just got out of the car and we were hopping back in again. What a waste of time. Not even worth the effort. Luckily, we didn't go shopping together very often.

Can you imagine the fun of grocery shopping for a Family of 33? Then when you get home you get to put them all away? That would be way awesome :)

I'm not sure that would be awesome unless you own the store. I'll bet the store management had a big smile on their faces.

This is such a true story  this is not only the Russian problem but as of now it’s an American problem with the influx of drugs and distruction of the family unit I have lived in one of the larger cities and seen the treatment of these children prostituting selling drugs anything for them to to make it and what does the govt do nothing but throw free money to more uneducated lazy parents and turn there backs on the children until one is found dead.Carleton is very lucky to have high ranking men helping him save these boys and not some busy body trying to take him down . Keep the positive story going keep saving the kids

You bare right, this is a current problem in the US as well as Europe. Seeing these kids on the streets is what led me to write this story.

Yeah, I think the older kids under Maria and Peter’s approval need to work as an order manager; then as the results prove themselves, let the venders know you business credentials and establish the accounts for the orders to be placed weekly or biweekly, for next day delivery. Baking bread and growing vegetables help ensure the true fresh Maria needs and the greenhouse should be starting to produce soon!

Likewise, the previous order lists of clothes for the boys should be compiled as depreciating inventory, but the laundry inspection should be used to check off on any clothes needing replacement or repairs. The store room should have a back stock of shoes, socks, slacks, underclothes, and shirts. The ages, with height, weight and shoes sizes, should be a tracked for growth and health anyway. Then the  growth and associated rotation of hand me downs would be easy to assign as those recorded height/weights change; thank goodness, boys or easier to dress and the focus is more towards color coordination, conditions and functionality! 😂

When is Peter picking up the motor coach? Oh, and definitely splurge for the toilet/bathroom option, it is a motor coach! Can you imagine, “dad, I need to pee”...times 30 over, and then the ole “ARE WE THERE YET!”

Where to begin?

It appears that when word of Carleton rescuing street boys, (without any ulterior motive, ie sex) got around, important 'connected' people saw him as a way to help solve the problem of boys on their streets who were unwillingly working for foreign criminal organizations.

So when Carleton's legal expertise brought him to the ICJ at The Hague, certain  European Ambassadors met with Carleton to see how they could help each other. The result is Carleton's 30+ 'sons', financial and other assistance to not only re-settle the boys, but to establish 'trusts' to help their education and future. Sort of Payback for the U.S. help after WWII.

Where do we go from here. The second 'Air Lift' may offer clues to the future of all concerned.

(or I'm so far out in left field, a team of 'sluggers' couldn't hit me).

Sounds like you know about kids and traveling. I think clothes are passed down, and the boys do their own laundry. I'm sure the older boys help the younger boys.
