Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Joyous Kwanzaa to all who celebrate! I'm still in a bit of a food coma from Christmas dinner, but I wanted to bring a reminder and also some important news for next year's anthology.  First, submissions for Carlos' tribute event are due tomorrow, so be sure to put the finishing touches on your stories and post the link in the thread in the Writer's Circle.  Second, I decided to do things a little differently this year, and instead of having a committee decide

Oh, it is that time of the week again. Yes, I get to see if I can succeed in luring someone to pick up my challenge and write a new prompt tale. Interested? Well, let me show you what I have up my sleeve this week.   Prompt 264 – Creative Tag – Fall It is the beginning of fall and the temperatures are beginning to change, the leaves are changing color, and the moods of people are changing as well. Weekly Wrap Up!

We had a pretty active week here at the GayAuthors.org News blog. The week started with a review by Lisa of JBlakeview1's story Boystown.   Our Wacky Wednesday writing tip of "Flashbacks: Friend or Foe?" sparked quite a bit of great discussion.   Finally, our great writing prompts were back (after a week absence due to the release of the fall anthology) - and once again, comicfan lives up to his reputation as the best prompt-guru around. Check out his two new creative prompts and have a go a

Oh dear, it is Friday again and I'm a bit late getting this up. I'm sorry one and all. This is what happens when you work a weird work schedule in retail. It has been two weeks since I could offer you a new prompt. I hope everyone enjoyed the anthology that went live last week, but I shouldn't just keep rambling should I? I won't hold you up any longer so let's get right to the prompts.   Prompt 262 – Creative Tag – Friday the 13th It is that time of the year again, and it is Friday the Thirte

Writing Tip: Flashbacks, Friend Or Foe?

As we've mentioned before, FictionStoriesOnline.com is a "sister" site of GayAuthors.org with some great writing advice and tips. With permission, here is one that ran last year, but the advice is great and we hope you enjoy it!   Flashbacks: Friends or Foe?   I had a discussion in a chat room recently over flashbacks. Specifically, how does an author relate history in a story of another character that isn't the main POV? This was especially important, as he wasn't known to the main

We had a really full week here at our GayAuthors.org News Blog. We started with K.C.'s review of Man of Montana by carringtonrj. As KC mentions, "Man of Montana captivated me right from the beginning or should I say the end? [...] This story starts in an intriguing way by starting with the ending!"   Transitions was the theme of our Wacky Wednesday. After a bit of reflection and introspection that focused on the role of social media, I talked about GA's recent efforts to engage the community t

2013 Fall Anthology "pandora's Box" Now Live!

If you're in the US, or at least anywhere that it's still Thursday, I'm betting you're going "Wait a minute, it's not Friday yet!" Well, you're right, but after much thought, I decided I really didn't want to release the anthology on Friday the 13th. Well, at least, not everywhere! So, without further ado, the anthology had been released. We had a lot of interest in the theme of Pandora's box, to be more precise, 22 authors decided to take up the challenge. Mixed in with the Anthology Veterans a

This GayAuthors.org News Blog thrives because of our community - so many of the reviews and articles are offered up by our wonderful members. For this week's review, we K.C. asked if he could do a review of one of his favorite stories - not only did we say yes (of course) but were thrilled when we got this great review. I hope you enjoy it, and if you are interested in reviewing a story or offering a Wacky Wednesday article (such as a writing tip or site tip), let me know!   Man of Mont
