I don't think we're judging Alek because he's hesitant to come out to his family. The problem is he let his reluctance destroy his relationship with Liam. Now he seems to regret that, which is fair enough, but if he wants to make a different choice, it's going to be uphill all the way. And telling Liam he still loves him and troubling an already vulnerable guy don't seem quite the right way to go about it to me. But I assume to Alek he's simply trying to show Liam he cares about him, loves him even if they cannot be lovers. That's why I liked him saying he knows he's a selfish prick.

I actually don't think of Liam as vulnerable... not in a shrinking violet way. He fell for a guy who returned the feelings, but after a year of struggling to make it work, Liam could no longer live within the confines of it, and he got his point across... he was done. Happenstance, in the form of an accident, brought them together again, and gave Alek a chance to say what he felt. He takes all the blame, and he expects nothing... he only hopes. He may have been selfish, but he wasn't mean or abusive. He was inconsiderate at worst as he tried to hold onto the threads of his life. I won't fault the guy for that, and I know how f......g hard is is to be in the closet, and how hard it is to escape it... I'm waiting to see if he proves himself worth another chance....

I only meant vulnerable due to the accident - like anyone in pain and shock after having narrowly escaped death. In addition, Liam is lonely and didn't have any close friends or family nearby when he woke up in hospital. I know Alek didn't mean to take advantage, but that's how it felt, even if Liam didn't let him.

Dear All,

It only means that everyone's birthday celebration is brought forward, hurrah ! We're still as old or as young as our age is normally worked out ...

Hoho

Good to know! Now, I just need to cancel that walker I ordered. :P

My comments were not aimed at you or any real person.

My post began intended to be a reply to a post I found offensive. The comments were meant to support my position, but when it came time to quote the offensive missive i could no longer find it. Perhaps that poster thought better of what was said and modified or deleted the part I found offensive. Regardless, I then hit the post button instead of the one I was aiming for. The two are adjacent on this tablet, and I chose to let the comments stand rather than try to correct them from the tablet.

It was never my intention to offend you, or any one else. I think it sucks that you found/find it necessary to remain in the closet. To not feel free to express your true feelings is the ultimate in unfairness. I look forward to the day when the word gay returns to being happy.

Sis, everyone knows you would never intentionally offend someone... you might use those hooves on someone who needs a swift kick, though :P . I look forward to that day too, when gay is just a word, and distinctions don't matter... and nobody has to hide who they are. Unfortunately, we are not yet there....

And stop the talk about needing a walker.  We're ALL to young for walkers.... canes and crutches are ok...but not walkers. :lmao:  My 92 year old Dad has one and he refuses to use it! He offered it to me when I was having leg pain at the beginning of the year and I almost choked I laughed so hard.  :gikkle:

A friend of mine died of ALS (aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease) back in the ‘90s. When his symptoms were relatively mild, he used a walker that had a seat for him to rest on. He and I went to the Castro and he wanted me to push him while he sat on the seat. I was leery, but he insisted. At the time, the sidewalks in the Castro wasn’t in perfect condition. And of course, I hit a section of the sidewalk that jutted up. Since it was top-heavy, the walker tipped over and he spilled onto the ground! He had been blocking my view ahead and he was facing me. He just kind of rolled back and didn’t get hurt, but I got an entire crowd of disapproving glares! I helped him up, but refused to push him anymore.

When his condition got worse, he got a powered wheelchair. My friends and I would worry about him because he’d cross the Bay from the East Bay to visit San Francisco. We were all concerned that he’d run out of power and get stuck somewhere. But that never happened. He’d go rent Gay porn VHS tapes and copy the video while recording classic music instead of the cheesy soundtracks. His ‘Masterpiece’ was a long slow seduction scene backed by Ravel’s Bolero!  ;-)

Are people liking me getting glared at? The fact that he was so independent even though he was in a wheelchair? Or Brian’s ‘Masterpiece’?

I’m thinking you’re liking me getting disapproving glares as only a crowd of Gay men can give each other!  ;-)

Definitely the Masterpiece and the fact he was determined to do it on his own. Reminded me of some SCI wheelies I used to know, fiercely independent

Not the glaring although it was funny and you got the blame for dumping your poor friend on the sidewalk, cruel bastard that you are. I bet he played it up for all it was worth

When did that happen ? Did I miss a dream sequence ?

Nah, never happened. That's just B's overactive imagination in action. Maybe, he should be a bloody author, eh?

I stopped liking Alek when he tied Liam to the railroad track and started all that maniacal laughter

Was there a crossover scene from Clueless Camping I didn’t notice? I’m certain I’d never miss Tor roaring through Ontario! Or did Bucket1 get a special Director’s Cut version of chapter 5 with a restored scene that the rest of us didn’t get?  ;-)

Well, the chapter posted on Thursday which is Torsdag in Denmark. ;)
