Syllable count, rhyme, flow ... it probably makes it easier for AI to write something that passes for what a human can do with poetry than it could for a story. But it's still limited. It's limited by what has come before. There is literally nothing new it can produce. Not yet. It's all a derivation of what has been. "Nothing is new under the sun." That or something close to it is often quoted to describe creative works. It is ABSOLUTELY true of AI. While a human being ... something with a spark, and talent, and dreams ... can, and will produce something that has not been seen before. Something beyond the touch of silicon. AI is wild. But it's soulless. 3 4
Popular Post Mikiesboy Posted July 26, 2025 Author Popular Post Posted July 26, 2025 Well, some of you may already know it's World Mangrove Day. If you'd like to learn more about these remarkable trees, what they do and where they are, you can read more here. In addition to the above, it is Saturday. Have a good one. 1 6

Popular Post kbois Posted July 26, 2025 Popular Post Posted July 26, 2025 I wish I could remember where I read it, but alas, the file cabinet in my brain is stuck. I read an interesting article a while back about the constant evolution of words. How they come about and how they change in meaning. Reading a book written in the 1800s is almost like reading a foreign language. I wonder what readers in the future will think about the language we use now? Skibidi anyone? I'm off to do some thrift store browsing with a friend. Have a good day everyone! 1 6
Mikiesboy Posted July 26, 2025 Author Posted July 26, 2025 (edited) You can read A Study in Scarlet, which was written in 1886, online. I don't find it to be like a foreign language, but it is wordy, as was the writing style then. You can read it, or have a look at it, for free at: https://sherlock-holm.es/stories/pdf/a4/2-sided/stud.pdf Also, plenty of em dashes and semicolons for those of you who think they are 'out of fashion' for modern writing. Hogwash, i say! Edited July 26, 2025 by Mikiesboy 2 3

We've been having similar issues over in Headstall's Paddock. Random comments---and once, an entire page---disappear for a while. Then, they pop up again as mysteriously as they disappeared. There doesn't seem to be a rhyme or reason to it. 2 3 1

Wayne Gray Posted July 26, 2025 Posted July 26, 2025 Wow. Also, now I can't even quote the comment that included it. When I try, it grabs a different post instead to quote. Huh. 3

kbois Posted July 27, 2025 Posted July 27, 2025 Today's thrift store browsing ended up costing me about $75.... which I guess isn't too bad. Thrifting turned into hanging out at my friend's pool for a couple of hours while her nephew smoked salmon and made bacon wrapped asparagus and dirty rice. Omg... it was sooooo good. After dinner, we played Catan which is a really interesting board game. It seems super complicated, but once you figure out what is actually supposed to happen, it makes sense. Sort of. A few adult beverages help immensely. Let's just say I lost spectacularly. All in all, it was a good day. 5

Page Scrawler Posted July 27, 2025 Posted July 27, 2025 Currently, my family is still on holiday in Washington state. I just learned about an incident at the local "Mart of Walls" in our hometown. I'm just writing to say that I heard from a relative, and nobody in our extended family was hurt. 4

There I was a thing passed about between men and women who were all super tense and wound up. And I was shot like a missile between their shoulder blades. Straight. Gay. Women. Man. All were my targets. Tension was my enemy! I destroyed it. Seeking out tightness and stress like it was my mission. Also, I am drunk and maybe a bit high. 2
