Popular Post Fae Briona Posted November 26, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 26, 2020 Baked the bourbon pecan pies for tomorrow (ended up making 2 normal pies instead of 1 deep dish), and did some of the food prep. That should help me get through tomorrow w/o too much joint pain. Two of the sides can be baked at the same temp, so that helps too. Still seems like a lot of work for a dinner for TWO PEOPLE. 2 4

That pie sounds amazing! I bailed on making dinner this year. We ordered a fully cooked turkey and trimmings from Publix. I ended up getting the larger meal so I could have leftovers to make turkey pot pie. The dinner we ordered is supposed to feed 12-14 people. There's only going to be three of us. I should probably get 3 pot pies from the leftovers and I'll freeze a couple. Enjoy you dinner tomorrow! 6

Maybe so, but I think you’ll look back on this holiday fondly, because you made it special, because you are both important enough to not let the holiday go by unnoticed. Have a great day the both of you with fond memories of those not with you. 5

I hope you have a nice holiday tomorrow. As for me, the day is winding down, so I’m going to read for a bit before going to bed. Good night DiCers. Sherye Story Reader Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 I lost my chizer in March of this year. He was only a year and a half old. He went outside just like he normally does to go potty. He never came back. I thought he might have ran off cause I never seen him again until my stepson and his wife were bringing all their stuff from storage and my stepson found him in some high grass bringing his riding mower here. He buried him in my pet cemetery. Last night my step daughter in law brought a siamese kitten when they came back from visiting friends out of town for awhile and I asked her if she wanted Nash's little bed for her to sleep in. She said yes. So now the darling kitten has her own bed now! 4 1

Solus Magus Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Thanksgiving question: Since I'm not from the US, what's with the pumpkins? What's the context of it? 4
Popular Post kbois Posted November 26, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 26, 2020 Growing up in Massachusetts we had the whole Thanksgiving tradition thing ingrained into us from the crib. This time of year was all about Pilgrims, Native Americans, cut out turkeys made from colored construction paper and your handprint. Family, food and football was the focus of the day. We didn't do the whole "go around the table and say what you're thankful for" like a lit of people. It was a given that we were all thankful for the people and things that we had. As the years went by the family dynamics shifted to our own spouses and kids and traditions changed. I look back and smile at the memories of past holiday gatherings. This year has thrown huge obstacles at us in regards to being able to get together with those we call family. Phone calls and FaceTime are not quite the same. But regardless of where you are and who you can or cannot get together with today, I hope everyone will enjoy their day. I'm thankful that I have this online family in my life. 1 5

Back then I thought that Thanksgiving was a holiday celebrated internationally like Christmas. I even thought that they're the same at one point! Lol. But it seems that its roots are only exclusive to America. Looking back on history can be quite a fun ride. Bummer that I never appreciated it when I was still studying. 2 4
Popular Post Fae Briona Posted November 26, 2020 Popular Post Posted November 26, 2020 SP and I had our first Thanksgiving together; a couple of issues w. brand new recipes but that's ok - always expect something can go wrong the first time you make something. Thankful for my loving soon-to-be husband -- tomorrow is the one year anniversary of our 1st date -- and thankful for all of you. 9
